I guess I should know better after reading these threads, but it blows my mind that any doctor would agree to castrate a healthy 21yo man. He's fucked up so badly and starting to realise it now, but how do you coma back from chopping your balls and putting some balloons in your chest?

However, if anyone wants to know how easy it is to get yourself diagnosed as gender dysphoric: a general practitioner, not even my primary care physician, allowed me to point out which specific diagnosis I wanted after I told him I was feeling that way. I literally stood behind him at the computer in the checkup room and showed him where to find the ICD-10-CM code on the list. Therapy was never required, and I could have taken that diagnosis and ran my ass to the nearby informed consent clinic to start taking hormones.

I know several FTMs who did just that, and they only had one trans-affirmative therapy session before being given their prescriptions. These people don't care about their patients in the slightest, and they basically told a former FTM friend of mine that he was shit out of luck when he started having a major allergic reaction to the type of testosterone they were prescribing him. Skin redness (not even at the injection site, it was on his legs) and minor bubbling are just a feature, not a bug!

That's just unbelievable. If you don't mind me asking, were they a psychologist or a psychiatrist? What was your impression of them? Did they actually make any questions to you, to get to know you a little, before asking you to self diagnose yourself? I mean, what the fuck? How do these doctors get their degrees?

I cannot believe that therapy was not required at all. I guess nowadays they call it gatekeeping... This is very dodgy.

Gender stereotypes dont explain it in todays western culture. What I have seen from the tranny and lgbt communities I've been into is that transmen tend to be hetero women who are into gay men (there is this one tumblr cow whi has a thread here who draws a lot of M/M porn, I forget her name, she perfectly represents this) or hetero men who are into either lesbians or women who hate men.

All the trans servers I've been in have been "truscum" servers, meaning every member who was admitted needed to have a solid grasp on the concept of gender dysphoria and its necessity to medically define transsexualism. There was a screening process, and non-dysphoric people (as well as people who did not adhere to TruScum Beliefs) were not allowed entry as per the rules. We had several members on HRT, some who had even undergone double mastectomies, that would absolutely SHIT all over phalloplasty and metoidioplasty on the regular and attack their fellow users. When I say pre-operative, I mean in the sense that these people had yet to undergo a "bottom surgery" procedure, not that they were pre-HRT or pre-mastectomy.

Even the "true transsexual scum" trans people hate each other and will attack each other over any perceived fault, and this includes any negative beliefs about the efficacy of surgeons or the necessity of medical transition. Their servers are as much of a hugbox as any other trans server, and they will ostracize you with the same manic glee as other troons if you commit wrongthink. I walked into the doctor's office for a checkup, got told that my usual doctor was out for the day, ended up with some random new guy I had never met before, and told him my gender hurt. There was very little in the way of conversation, and he seemed confused on what he could do for me, so I more or less nudged him towards diagnosing me. I don't think he knew anything about the whole "trans" thing (nor the proper guidelines for it) and was earnestly trying to help me in any way that he could.

I still have the diagnosis on my medical records.

So he wasn't even a psychologist or psychiatrist, just like a normal GP? And he basically was really confused and had no idea about gender dysphoria but he really wanted to help you and let you take the lead on the diagnosis and best treatment. That's fucked up. Were you young?
