Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

We won’t, DeSantis is based plus we’re in season now.

Yep, if he wasn’t even willing to lock it down in July and August when we were at 15k cases/day and it was the time everybody is most inclined to stay inside, he sure isn’t going to now that you actually can (sometimes) comfortably dine outdoors and we have all the snowbirds arriving now who are grateful to have escaped lockdowns in other states.

My county is again instituting curfews because Lord Newsom can't get off his power trip. On the bright side the county sheriff has consistently refused to actually enforce social distancing and mask wearing since the beginning of lockdowns and again made a statement saying that his deputies won't be doing shit about the curfew and holiday gatherings and to take any complaints to the county health department so small victories.

There's sometimes I wish then Lord Newsom got corona-chan just to see if he'll use that so-called miraculous medication named remdesivir who's in reality a piece of shit or HCQ.

They keep repeating that the government should take the elite's money and use it to pay everyone to stay locked down. As if, the government and the elite are fine with the current arrangement where governments restrict the plebs and the elites get richer due to it.

For all their apparent concern about income inequality they do seem very in favor of things that'll destroy the middle class. Because it's all good as long as the lower class gets gibs and free stuff, right?
What's even better is how these queer anarchists and commie troons are always saying things like "liberals get the bullet too" and "hang landlords" and talking gleefully about how many people will die in their revolution but when they're actually faced with a scenario where millions will die (according to The Science) if we don't pass measures that coincidentally transfer all wealth to the elite, they just stand back and start simping for the elite. You have a golden opportunity to put your money where your mouth is and kill millions of people (including a lot of those evil boomers and fat Trump-voting trailer trash) to stop a massive, enormous increase in wealth inequality and potentially a famine in parts of the world, but instead they just scream "transfer my wealth harder Daddy Globalists".

That's not even including the CDC study of over 100k deaths in 2020 so far that are caused by suicide and drug overdose. Around September, the CDC confirmed that "deaths caused by despair" are already up 25% this year before even entering Fall.

This ... This just makes me so mad and depressed at the same time.

In Ontario Canada; our Obergruppenfuhrer Doug Ford has locked down and punished restaurants and gyms for his failure (and every other govts failure) to protect the Long term care homes. A perfectly healthy 80 year old living in a retirement home recently opted for medically assisted death because the lockdown (where she was locked in a tiny room for months on end) caused a deterioration both mentally and physically and faced with another lockdown she opted to kill herself. What a great leader!

If Florida gets locked down we know we're fucked.

Florida is the holy land in my eyes. Just to go somewhere most things are back to normal, well as normal as Florida can be; is like the pearly gates of heaven.

Guess his kids aren't good people.

Anyone with pronouns in their bio is a liberal cuck and not even worthy of an opinion; according to me.

Okay, I translate as being strong or being a fucking wimp. Close enough?
I would say anyone who doesn't subscribe to wokeism and idpol qualifies as based, even if they aren't overt about their opposition towards it. If you don't like communism and socialism you also qualify as based.

So theoretically you could be a leftist but still be considered based as long as you don't like wokeism.

Australia goes full circle and becomes a prison colony again...

Update: Now the Aussies canceled that severe lockdown order again, 'cause it was all an overreaction based on a random dude's lie.
Apparently it went something like this:

1) Immigrant worker works at a pizza shop and gets paid in cash to evade taxes.
2) He gets the 'Rona from a coworker.
3) Government scientists questions him about where he's been; He keeps his illicit employment a secret, but says he's been to the pizza place as a customer to pick up a pizza - thinking that this gives them enough information to work with.
4) Government scientists go "REEEEEEE, someone got the 'Rona from a pizza box without directly meeting the infected person? Sound all the alarm bells, this must be a mutated super-killer-strain!!!!!!111"
5) Government goes "Attention citizens, you're all prisoners inside your homes now!"

What a shitshow.

My new theory is that when everything is over (as it would have been anyway), the pod people, and our psycho governers will pat themselves on the back for making hard choices and doing the right thing against all odds, and choose to believe the narrative that they were our saviors and the rest of us were anti-vaxers who only dragged out the pain and economic damage. NPR will sell the story to their loyal, follow-the-science, listeners, and Newsom, Cuomo, and Whitmor will all campaign for the presidency.

I disagree. Believe when everything is over people will realize, even the idiots, that this was one of the biggest, most unnecessary fuckups in American history. On a par with Vietnam, another colossal waste that caused our country terrible societal damage. Might take longer than I think but that's what I see. Also still believe we'll be lucky to get through this shit without widespread civil disobedience and/or McVeighs.

I hope you're right. American critical thinking skills have not impressed me lately.

Oh I'm sure, but it's one of those things that will take a decade-plus, just like it took for Vietnam (or Iraq for that matter) to be regarded as the same. It's the same process as getting the people who'd chew you out as unpatriotic soldier-hater or communist hippie or whatever to say "Hey, maybe spending countless billions of dollars, many thousands of lives, and endless years playing in the jungle/sandbox shooting at zipperheads/towelheads for some reason wasn't the best use of our resources."

For now I think it's had the opposite effect, and probably the intended one--to strengthen public trust in the government. No, they don't care about you or me or anyone questioning the narrative, they care about their own base/prospective base. Trust in government was fucked for years since Watergate, and 9/11, the War on Terror, or the government's role in the housing crisis/recession did nothing to resolve it. Well guess what, now you have a big mass of people slobbering all over Dr. Fauci's cock and demanding the government have more power. I'd love to see some polling on "do you trust the government" now. These people will obviously say "I don't trust Trump/the Feds" but I'm curious to see polling in California, Michigan, New York, etc. on their state government. When Joepedo seizes the White House come January, watch trust in government skyrocket among this crowd. They need more slavish loyalty in their base, and more government worship is as good as anything for them, especially since it helps ignore schisms in their own party, the blatant corruption of the DNC, and preparing for a time when Trump isn't president and they need a new way to get people to the polls beside "Orange Man Bad."

10 years from now, I will definitely enjoy seeing how the Democrats do a 180 on the Corona lockdowns and talk about how the Republican lockdowns negatively impacted people in this country and created greater wealth inequality.

And they'll be older folks like me going "But...but your party were the ones that demanded the lockdowns" and then get called every -ist in the book for suggesting such an insane idea.

Yea that will probably happen. The civil war has already been retconned as racist Republican slaveowners being defeated by brave progressives.
