Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

If Hollywood wants us to enjoy things, then maybe they should stop making trash. Ever consider that?
Or......

How about they STOP trying to shove politics down our throats. If they stop trying to make everything political, maybe just maybe I would actually start watching TV again. Maybe I would start going to the movies more and enjoy myself. Maybe I could start watching new stuff instead of having to rely on old classic films. There is a reason why I watch old stuff over new things.

8: Brain runs for president and mind-rapes his wife. This episode also included one of only two debut shorts for the reboot, a small alien trapped as a child’s plaything. It wasn’t funny, and the decision to have the child played by a child did not help.
Did you see the character that kinda looked like Tim Pool in that Pinky and the Brain short?

I think i found the main guy behind all of the horrible woke-ness of the new Animaniacs

Was gonna watch the Animaniacs reboot eventually despite feeling warey of it but this article just turned me off of it entirely
More specificlly this part:
Also missing: Ruegger and most of the original writers, who weren’t asked back.

“They had decided to make the show, and by the time I even heard about it, they had a showrunner and a staff,” Ruegger says. When his agent reached out to the new creative team suggesting they involve Ruegger in the process, they declined, Ruegger says. “He said, ‘Well, at least bring him in to meet them.’ So I went in there with my agent and said, ‘I’d love to be involved in some meaningful way,’ and they said, ‘OK. But we’ve got it under control.'”
There's giving the creator a run around and then there's this shit.

"We've got it under control." What assholes!
:stress:

Dude wasn't even asking to be a part of the creative process at that point, he just to be involved in supervising the project in some way. Something that would've been a free PR boost for the show and would've made older fans happy. And they basically just went "Sit down old man, let the real professionals take care of this." They couldn't even do it over the phone, they just lead him and his agent on until they got there and then promptly told them to fuck off. I mean, fine by me: Ruegger seems more hellbent on working on Freakazoid with his old team again more than being on Animaniacs anyways, and considering how well that TTG crossover episode was received: I wouldn't be surprised if a revival got greenlit within the next 2-3 years. Guy deserves another shot at being showrunner.

(Sidenote: if you wanna see if he's even still able to write clever jokes on his own, without the backing of the old team/TTG team, he's got a social media account where he sometimes post skits. YMMV on if you enjoy them or not, but it at least shows he hasn't gotten rusty.)

Man, I am trying to be optimistic about this show, but the more I see of it, the more worried I become over it turning into woke nonsense.
This is nearly inevitable in any remake, isn't it? How many of these reboot bullshit things have been anything other than absolute crap? Why didn't they bring back any of the writers who made the original a uniformly acclaimed success? Probably because they want to turn it into woke bullshit.
You kiwi farms cretins are incapable of enjoying anything
Also just because I'm here, fuck you fag. You may even actually be right, but still fuck you, you goddamn jackoff.

One of the quickest ways to make me doubt the quality of a reboot, remake, or sequel is when they don't have any of the original staff returning to work on it unless there's a valid reason for it. It makes me feel like they aren't going to respect the original creators intentions and are likely not going to understand what made the original good. Sometime it works out fine but usually it just doesn't.

Why didn't they bring back any of the writers who made the original a uniformly acclaimed success? Probably because they want to turn it into woke bullshit.
I'd see a bigger reason might be either as @rotollo put it or studio desire of control over these projects and in turn hiring spineless chumps that'll nod along to anything the studio wants. If the original people were brought back I would bet that they'd be butting heads over show direction and studio meddling, especially if they felt something was out of character for the creations they built themselves. Big names or even just veterans of the field have a lot more clout to throw around and I could see them being more willing to tell studio heads to pound sand. New writers can get scared into doing whatever as long as there's the implied threat of termination and unlike veterans/Big names they probably don't have much to fall back onto, best to just keep your head down and do what makes the client happy.

With these reboots the studio knows it stands to make money off of nostalgia and maybe in their out of touch minds they think inserting certain things will make it super popular. The studios goal isn't woke shit but just following trends and it just so happens that woke is the current trend, I can't for a second believe those in charge give two shits as long as they think it'll bring in money. Sure, you might have some of the writers be true believers that can't not include their pet cause but studios aren't picking people for the reason of turning stuff into woke shit. All the studio cares about is hiring people that do as they're told when it comes down to it and don't cost too much money.

It's like believing any of the higher ups at places like Disney really care about any of the woke shit they like to slap into their movies. What they want is money and if woke shit virtue signalling has the chance of making more money for them they'll gladly parade it around, just not in any market where doing so might hurt their sales.
