Dude wasn't even asking to be a part of the creative process at that point, he just to be involved in supervising the project in some way. Something that would've been a free PR boost for the show and would've made older fans happy. And they basically just went "Sit down old man, let the
real professionals take care of this." They couldn't even do it over the phone, they just lead him and his agent on until they got there and then promptly told them to fuck off. I mean, fine by me: Ruegger seems more hellbent on working on Freakazoid with his old team again more than being on Animaniacs anyways, and considering how well that TTG crossover episode was received: I wouldn't be surprised if a revival got greenlit within the next 2-3 years. Guy deserves another shot at being showrunner.
(Sidenote: if you wanna see if he's even still able to write clever jokes on his own, without the backing of the old team/TTG team, he's got a social media account where he sometimes post skits. YMMV on if you enjoy them or not, but it at least shows he hasn't gotten rusty.)
