Yeah so to put that in laymens terms, the education systems teaches people to memorize and how to take tests, not how to process information.

Though your point about "compartmentalization" is on-point.
The biggest example of this in reference to COVID is how they (even people I went through the same damn undergrad with) believe that 1) COVID can transfer no lasting immunity but also that 2) a vaccine is what's needed to stop the virus; holding these beliefs simultaneously without even so much as a forethought that the two are contradictory.

Further compartmentalized insanity:
1) Humans are over-populated.
2) Darwin's theory of Natural Selection is proven science.
3) We must stop people from dying of COVID-19 at all costs.
All at once, without even a drop of doubt that one of those beliefs is invalidated by the other two.

Didn’t Hitler believe in the theory of Natural Selection or something similar? The superior race shit?

I think the most confusing part for me is the why. I am not on board with the ‘great reset’ theory, but i struggle as to the real motivation for almost every single fkn country to take these extreme measures for something so minor.

Is everyone dumb enough to believe anything China says? It’s lunacy.

I've said it before, but another bullshit thing is that while they report on the (inflated) number of cases, they don't tell us how many have recovered. Just like number of deaths is inflated.
A case number will include asymptomatic cases, a handy fear tool
I (fucking) love reddit salt over people ignoring lockdowns.

Sheriffs in a few NY counties have refused to enforce the 10 people per household gathering limit and Cuomo calls them arrogant (archive).

Good on them. The more people stand up to this, the better.
Considering how many law enforcement agencies have been threatened with "defunding" or had their municipalities follow through with funding cuts in light of the summer protests that have yet to end, can one really blame any law enforcement agency that takes this stance?

Even during the spring when many areas issued "stay home" directives, a number of police departments declared that they wouldn't/couldn't enforce them because they lacked the resources (i.e. patrol officers) to do so because of all the frivolous complaints being made. In fact, some departments in my area went as far as to tell their officers to not pull over drivers during the spring lockdowns if the stop would result in nothing more than a civil infraction because of the fear unmasked drivers could spread COVID to the police.

In areas where the state-level health department or its equivalent have issued the latest orders, I can easily see law enforcement telling people calling in with complaints to instead contact their county health department as if to say, "We don't have time to deal with this, so let those making the rules deal with enforcing it."

I was watching an old movie on Oliver Cromwell that seemed scarily relevant with the civil war between the Cavaliers and Roundheads. I can totally see Boris Johnson kicking off the 2nd English Civil War with his bullshit mask mandates.

Never forget, it was Cromwell that banned Christmas. Whatever Boris is, the violent replacement will be worse.

Isn't Boris Johnson like as right-wing as a non-Muslim can get in Britbongistan without being arrested for hate speech given the other side is full of communists? Can't have a civil war when the other side is even worse.

No. The classical right/left dichotomy is a falsehood to begin with, but even the popular right/left dichotomy fails when you look at English politics (not British - English) for even a moment. The key features of English politics are Paternalism and Individualism, rather than "left" and "right". Boris is very much a paternalist, an old tory, who thinks of himself as the "father" of the nation, like a land owner who styles himself as a caring, fatherly figure for his tenants. It can have good outcomes, inculcating a familial cooperation toward common goals, but it can also lead to the worst excesses of tyranny, when the "father" starts to punish his "children" in petty and unjustifiable ways, treating them as mentally stunted ingrates who need to be sent to their room without supper and spanked for misbehaving in public.

Paternalism is a common thread throughout English politics, left or right, authoritarian or liberal, socialist or conservative; they all suffer the same delusion of assumed responsibility for the "care" of each and every citizen, whilst those citizens in turn have absorbed the belief that their putative betters have their best interests at heart, and will act to improve the lot of the individual through the imposition of wise, moderate, and justifiable rules. It's the reason the BBC is so arrogant, and the reason that the English, who arguably spawned the entire modern concept of individual liberty, are nevertheless such craven worshippers of the state.

So no, Boris isn't right wing. If I were forced at gunpoint to classify him, I'd call him centre left, but I'd repeat that it's irrelevant: he has delusions of fatherhood, he believes he knows what's best, and he has arrogated to himself the divine right of kings. He will use socialist, conservative, libertarian, liberal, and any other rhetoric if he feels it would perpetuate his paternalist reign.

And he's also a turk. So fuck him.

We can add school dropout rates, of both the high school and college/technical school variety, to increase because of this as well.

The kids in high school already in a low place trying to stay in school? Yeah they're gonna go.

The people in college? Yeah lots are gonna drop out for having to pay the same price for 1/3 of what you'd usually get.

Technical school? Yeah that's very hands on and in person and if you can't learn it or teach it correctly then there's no point. Same goes for the 4 yr degrees that are very hands on, like nursing (who tf wants to try to be a nurse during COVID? nursing school is hard enough as it is I hear).

Never thought I'd say this but I can see myself withdrawing if shit isn't better after next spring (though that might affect my financial aid I've not looked in to it yet). I do not currently have any debt but I don't want to keep going on like this. Holy shit we can't even do real theatre.

Our government, out of the desperate need to maintain security theatre has instituted "quarantine of the weekend" where everything of value is closed for the weekend.

Now they've treaded water with messages in the press of talks of the second lockdown.

Please, make it stop.

I want to visit my girl. I want this oppressive drumbeat to stop. I don't want to wear a fucking muzzle anymore.

Historically pandemics end when the people say they do. When enough people stand the fk up and push back, they govt will slowly relent, then pretend it never happened.

The endless use of guilt-tripping and other appeals to emotion is ultimately going to result in people hardening their hearts just out of defence. Eventually the thousand-papercuts of daily wheedling pressure is just going to produce people who say: "No, I don't give a fuck at all."
Some of us are already there. Oddly enough, being ostracized for all types of wrongthink this year and then chastised to wear a mask by the same people results in a “lol your shame does not work anymore” attitude.

Boooooooooring. The hysterical side needs to come up with new arguments. Using a Shapiro tagline to get people in line shows how in touch with their opposition these smooth brains are.

In short? Yeah, they seem to be.

The mass hysteria started when this was still mostly in China. There were plenty of doomers expecting some disaster-movie-tier event: “People are dying in the streets! The hospitals and morgues are beyond capacity! The Chinese government is welding people into their apartments! Just watch this video to see what’s really going on, it’s way worse than they’re telling us!” For some reason, nobody seemed to be skeptical of these rumors and supposedly secret videos coming out of China. Nor did they ever consider that maybe the Chinese government was overreacting because it’s an authoritarian nightmare who is deeply concerned about saving face, and having a massive outbreak of SARS 2 right after the world is already looking at them funny over Hong Kong is not exactly something they’re happy about.

Reminder the Indigenous Americans were (admittedly through no fault of their own) effectively isolated from the Old World diseases.

Look how being isolated and confined away from the Smallpox virus was a winning strategy for the Indigenous that we should emulate!

He also got tricked into spunking up that blonde trollope and the power mad bitch is trying to make herself into a first lady.

A cucked spastic with a hardon for churchill and a demented power mad cunt is a botched abortion of a combination but that's what we've got in power.

Been a long time since I have posted on here, where I am at we are going back into lockdown mode. Stupid fat fuck Ford is really getting drunk of the Koolaid at this point with this pandemic response. I've been doing my college remotely, hence the entire year this year is going to be online. They essentially condensed our semesters by two weeks per semester, so realistically I am paying the same amount of money, for a more condensed down version of my classes. I can't really complain too much, just because of the element of being able to do my classes from home actually is kind of nice. I also am back working again, started last month, but the hours are not good. The lockdown has really fucked the restaurants up where I am at. Quite a few places are closed now, meanwhile the once thriving life in the city, has now become relegated of looking like a dystopian nightmare. The people are that are outside walking around just have their stupid masks on. Now what they are doing is they are going to put my city into another lite lockdown like in March. Hours are getting reduced everywhere and they are choking out the small businesses.

Me and my buddy where talking about the new lockdown rules, now they are going to give a fat ass fines if they catch you not masking up. They are sending their Gestapo of undercover glow in the darks to act as patrons in restaurants. If they catch you not masking or following protocol you can get a very large fine. This communist regime in Canada has to go, it's fucking disgusting how far we have fallen in the last several months. They literally want to strip every bit of what makes life worth living for most people and now they are talking about taking away Christmas. I am ashamed of the cowardly chicken headed population that has allowed these fucking legislators to go this far with this thing. Outside of that though, I've been ignoring this retarded pandemic. It should be peoples choice whether or not they would like to take the risk or not and these people spouting "meh science," ignored everything that has come out by the WHO and CDC over the last couple of months. I exercise caution during flu season anyways, just because of the fact that I live with someone who is compromised.

I've been doing my best to get out as much as I can again and it is nice being back to work. "despite the limited capacity." Just for an illusion of safety, we literally have set ourselves into a fucking dark age in the West. Every time you give these fucking people an inch they expect a mile, it's unbelievable how the last year of life has been. Things sort of felt like they were coming back to normal for a few weeks there and then...BAM! I only found out about the new rules from my buddy at work, that is how much I've watched the news. This response has been a monumental failure in every respect and this COVID isn't going away. People need to just except that, let it naturally get weaker, and go on with business. The vaccine news is a bit nice though, so that gives me a shred of optimism that there is some light at the end of this fucking terror year.

I'm glad to see that a lot of the general population is beginning to wake up to the shenanigans at large though. Despite the sheep that think that they cloth mask is going to save them from a bad cold. This thread is an excellent archive of this entire year, and this thread has been light years ahead of every major talking head. Still blows my mind that a website dedicated to archiving the internets most exceptional, has managed to archive the globes most exceptional disease. The propaganda and fear porn have worn off the value once summer hit, the fact the only mode of focus in Canadian media is this virus makes me want to face palm every time I hear the CBC now. The unseen ramifications of this action are beginning to manifest, only a matter of time before people vote these fucking people out. Trudeau hiding in his cabin while getting away of funneling millions of dollars through NGO and implementing the UN mandate on our population makes me seethe. Vote with your wallets and vote with your ballots. People need to realize that paying attention to what these fucking clowns are saying opposed to how the lamestream media parrots things is critical at this stage in the game. Watching the MAGA march was something that made me feel proud and I am hoping for more peaceful gatherings of the silent majority.
