While I gave up on the podcast a while ago I was amazed at how shitty other options are, which is the basis for my statement. Terrestrial radio? Maybe if you are still entertained by fart soundboard you can do that, but you are gonna have to deal with ads too. Any one of a million true crime broadcasts voyueristicly masturbating to real kidnappings, murders, and rapes? Fuck that. Joe Rogan? Real hit or miss on interviews and never challenges any of the guests on anything they say (besides Alex Jones). The rest of the podcasts seem to be unable to make non-TDS/TES humor of literally the funniest politcal landscape in recent history.
The Dick Show has suffered a large decline in quality in the last year or so (I haven't heard an episode with him defending cuties so I'm a bit out of depth on that) but he's certainly not the only one going down in quality, so I don't think he's bled all of his blue collar following. The retarded political takes he gives are contrasted by a landscape of Hollywood homosexuals talking about there bizarre and foreign lifestyles with other equally out of touch Hollywood types.
I've been in that situation for a while
I've started listening to two newer ones:
Wild Ride with Steve-O, he's a pretty great host and he keeps politics and preachy bullshit off of his show. If you want some starting points, the
Chris Pontius one has some great stories and the
Jonathan Davis (lead singer of KoRn) one is comfy and interesting.
Another one is
Sardonicast, starring Adum from YourMovieSucks, Alex from I Hate Everything, and Ralphthemoviemaker; they're all chill and keep their politics out of the show, and they tend to have interesting stuff to say about the films they watch. It's not high energy at all so I wouldn't recommend it to @Ped Xing as something to keep him alert, but its been a nice way to fill the void. As for starting points, I dunno, just browse through there and listen to any episode covering a movie you've seen, but otherwise I guess I'd suggest starting with the one where they cover
The Matrix trilogy and the one where they cover
Rise of the Skywalker and Space Jam because I like hearing people shit on Disney Star Wars. I know I'll get shit for this, but Adum's a really smart person who gets very introspective about the films he watches, and he's able to put his feelings into words extremely well.
But then again, neither of those match the energy of The Dick Show, and I'm another person who likes to listen while I work, so energy is an important thing for me and I'd not have much to say in this thread if it weren't for fucking Cuties and the train of spazzes he's had as guests lately. Like is it really that hard to get anyone at all to just show up and tell interesting stories? Shit, just have on someone from here and ask them to tell weird stories from their jobs or something.
