Others have pointed out that this cope is a distraction from something else. Maybe Faith left, maybe he is blowing through his money and he has almost nothing left, maybe pedo girl gave him a STD. Who knows?

But if he was so upset about going to see a movie, there are lots of chains still open. Maybe not the Regal Cinema near him but a lot of AMC's are as well as local chains. Its not like his fat ass waddles to the theater and he has proven he can take road trips. So what is a 30 minute drive as opposed to a 20 minute drive aside from a convenient way to bitch about something other than his hellish life. Just my take.

Much as there's a chuckle to be had at this looking like the obvious sad lonely Gunt shit, lots of folks go see movies on the holidays. I dunno how many times I got hauled off to some shitty movie growing up as a kid during the mandatory gatherings, but then again my extended family is LDS so it was probably just a way of having less kids in the house for a couple hours. As much as the Gunt can go get fucked, it's just such as mundane American thing that I dunno if putting much weight (lol) into it is necessary or warranted.

A pattern of behaviour to look out for with Ralph - the harder he copes and seethes, and in particular the more he lashes out at his haters, the more likely it is that he is battling some serious demons in his personal life. We are like his therapeutic stress ball, an outlet for him to ease the tension.

I'd wager he is building up to another meltdown, either because Faith is gone with the baby, or his mother is dying/dead, or Pantsu laughed his advances off, or all of these and more. At this point predicting a Guntdown is a science we've nailed much like our ancestors did with seasons for the harvest.

I've been to movies on holidays with family. But he's not complaining about not able to go out with your family, merely that you can't go to the movies. He didn't even say, 'I would love to take Faith to the movies, but these stupid lockdown restrictions.' That's to me why it seems like she's gone.
