Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

My sister’s boyfriend’s grandad died of the coof. He had heart problems, went to the hospital for that, then caught the coof at the hospital and the combination of the two did him in.

I think my parents want to celebrate Christmas properly but I overheard them stressing out about how there’ll be more cars parked outside than the government-mandated maximum amount of 3 households. They genuinely seem to think the police are ready to leap out of the bushes any second to ask if they have a loisence for their wholesome Christmas gathering. Then again, I live in England so anything is possible I suppose. Perhaps they’re scared someone on my Nan’s street is a snitch or something...

I feel sorry for one of my sister’s friends who is at university. One of his flatmates tested positive and even though everyone isolated themselves and all the other people including him tested negative, his parents are such hypochondriacs that they aren’t letting him come home for Christmas, so he’s gonna be stuck in his room alone all day.
Your friends parents are cunts. Seriously. That is fucking vile of them, Christmas is a month off yet.

Short check in from my neck of the woods.

My neighbor is a physical therapist who used to work at a local hospital. When Corona hit, she was put on administrative duty b/c they stopped taking surgical patients. She was eventually laid off and never retrieved her personal equipment. This is becoming important since her unemployment is about to run out, she wants to do private service but can't without a standing table.

Anyhow, she went back to the hospital today to get her gear back. Most of the floors are closed except for the emergency room and the physician's office building. She found out her former studio has been converted into an unlicensed day care for the staff. Kids were playing on exercise balls, they had AV equipment pulled out from the cabinets, and there were at least 40 kids running around with one adult to supervise them. The place smelled, some of the lights weren't working and - most importantly - she was never challenged when she entered the building. People could walk in and out through an entrance to the physician's office building and it had unlocked doors leading into the 3rd floor.

We're on total lockdown where I am, you can't go outside without a mask. Meanwhile, parts of the hospital are being repurposed for the benefit of a small group of staff that remains. She wants to go back and make a video, thinking people will wake up. I told her good luck, the fear is so think people can't think about right and wrong anymore.

I knew we'd see shit about elves and Santa wearing masks. Maybe I'm a bit romantic, but it really disgusts me. Let kids have a bit of magic without this bullshit. "Don't worry about it, Santa is immune to COVID" is one of the only things Fauci said I thought was coming from a good place.

Believe me, kids already know all this shit is going on, just give them a nice holiday where at least part of it is untouched by this crap.

More and more I am disturbed by the fact that some people seem to take glee in taking away the innocence of children. What is wrong with people?

...this is not up for debate or compromise. These scumbags allowed Antifa/BLM to riot and loot without impunity and without being lectured to abide by lockdown restrictions. If they along with all these scumbag politicians, "journalists", and "experts' can get away with such hypocrisy, than the people can do what they want when they want. No more compromising.

I'm incredibly tired of getting admonished by the very same sanctimonious fucking asshats who didn't have one negative word to say about the Burn Loot Murder "protests" that happened over the Summer, yet they expect everyone else to now cancel Thanksgiving, not travel to visit family, and not invite grandma over for dinner. If you really do believe that this virus is so fucking deadly and so very contagious, to the point where you're trying to limit how many people someone invites over for Thanksgiving dinner, where the fuck were you when hundreds, sometimes thousands of people filled the streets asses-to-elbows screaming in people's faces and hacking up tear gas?

I was one of the "eh, it's a pain in the ass but just wear a mask I guess" people for a long time, and for many months I did take this shit seriously. I think most of us were pretty fucking wary when this shit started coming out, especially with the death rate in Italy and people in China just keeling over in public. But at this point, the "pandemic" is blatantly, openly, obviously being used as a political bludgeon against people with the "wrong" opinions. If all of these chucklefucks had come out in late May or June with: "Hey dumbfucks, this shit isn't over, stop crowding in the streets screaming over a guy that died of an overdose" maybe I'd have a little more respect for them and maybe I'd be inclined to take them seriously. Likewise, I would be more inclined to listen to them if they, oh, I dunno, followed their own fucking rules? But they don't.

They pass down from their towers all of these laws and rules and bans and fucking edicts that you must adhere to or else, but they're still having upscale dinner parties. They're still traveling from state to state. They're still having big shin-digs and get-togethers. They're still getting their hair done. They'll wear a mask while they deliver whatever stupid fucking remarks they want, but when they're hob-knobbing with their equals, hell no they won't wear it. "Are you kidding? You thought the same rules applied to your betters? Ha, hardly!" Not to mention the fact that this shit was used as a springboard for a whole lot of election fuckery.

I'm over the whole fuckin' deal. This thing is just not as lethal as we first believed it might be. There are now therapeutics and treatments that can be used, since doctors have had enough time and experience to understand it better. Most people are washing their hands often and trying to avoid coughing on people. Hell, melatonin, Vitamin D supplementation and even zinc can seemingly reduce the risk of contracting it. You'd think that would be good enough and we could all collectively get on with our god damn lives. We haven't even really begun to feel the brunt of the economic damage done by the first shutdown, and now we're doing another one. We know what we're dealing with now: something with a slightly higher lethality rate than the flu that is somewhat more infectious.

And the media is just as, if not more so, complicit in this as the nanny state fuckwits. All you see is constant fucking hysteria. They'll pound the daily number of cases into you and never mention how many people are critically ill, and of course they won't brush upon how many people successfully recovered from it.

I thought that maybe we'd all learned something from the 9/11 era, that sacrificing liberties for "safety" was a shit way of going about things. But no, there's still a rather sizeable portion of the populace that is ecstatic about their rights being trampled on and clamoring for even more. Mandatory vaccines are almost certainly coming down the pike next and most of these assholes will welcome it. The slow boil method has worked so well on these shitheads that they're asking for someone to turn up the burner.

Wow holy shit, Pasadena's full of suburban soccer moms and rich people who run "art societies". Huh! Pleasantly surprised at their backbone.

My daughter isn’t thrilled that for the first time in her life, she has breakouts on her face. Right around the sides of her mouth. Funny that these appeared after she had to wear a mask all day every day for months. And yes, she wears a clean mask every day. Nothing helps. Oh well, at least the mask covers up the rash the mask is causing.
Have her wear those disposable kinds only for a few hours at a time, and have her take the mask off whenever she gets a chance. If anyone complains she can just lie and say she has a breathing problem. And have her check out the skincare thread!

She really, really should consider doing that. Serously.

So is anyone actually cancelling their plans for Thanksgiving (and presumably Christmas because (((they))) want that too), or is it literally just brain-dead redditors? As smokingpig said, even these liberal mayors aren't practicing what they preach.
Yes and no. Have a family member that had polio and now has cop so their primary care givers (all family) and doing a thanksgiving with her and everyone else is business as usual. Although, with the point she’s we would’ve done the same anyways. hell had to a few years ago due another family members health so yeah

I notice restrictions and lockdowns have been getting harsher as Trump has been scoring legal victories in his election fight which supports my theory that the majority of this was designed to hurt his re election bid.
Makes you wonder how loose and chill they would be with the restrictions if Trump conceded and started the transition immediately with none of his character fuss. "He's literally killing all of us!!!"

I'm totally expecting yet another record-breaking day of cases if more victories crop up. And if he flips a state, Christmas is on the chopping block, but for "take this all the way to court" real.

Look at what they do not what they say.

Nancy getting her hair styled, no mask and inside.

Newsom hosting a dinner party at an upscale restaurant, sharing food with no masks, with fucking health officials no less. You know the people that are advising politicians to close down the entire hospitality industry.

That retard in Denver who tweeted that we have to cancel Thanksgiving and definitely not travel, and then hopped on a plane 30 minutes later to spend Thanksgiving with his family in Mississippi.

The numerous journalists who have been recorded lecturing normies about masks caught on video taking theirs off when they think the cameras aren't running.

All of these fucks know that Covid is a nothing burger. They're given the actual stats not the juiced up bullshit they release to the public. Does anyone think they'd be behaving this way if they really thought that Covid was the Spanish flu?

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends. Though I’ve been on the farms shitposting for a while now, this thread is really helping me get through this, just simply because I see how many others feel the same way. Resistance can be a lonely island sometimes.

Macy's Parade with no crowds is giving me a sad.
This is absurd. I look forward to seeing the ball drop on NYE to an empty Times Square. Nothing really conveys the spirit of the holidays like forced isolation and face masks.

Statement from the Mayor of Denver, after he was found out:
I fully acknowledge that I have urged everyone to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. I have shared how my family cancelled our plans for our traditional multi-household Thanksgiving celebration.

What I did not share, but should have, is that my wife and my daughter have been in Mississippi, where my daughter recently took a job. As the holiday approached, I decided it would be safer for me to travel to see them than to have two family members travel back to Denver.

I recognize that my decision has disappointed many who believe it would have been better to spend Thanksgiving alone. As a public official, whose conduct is rightly scrutinized for the message it sends to others...

...I apologize to the residents of Denver who see my decision as conflicting with the guidance to stay at home for all but essential travel.

I made my decision as a husband and father, and for those who are angry and disappointed, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions that are borne of my heart and not my head.

Our family is having our traditional Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon with zero changes due to the virus. The only person who will be missing is a relative who had a heart surgery recently and is still recovering. It should be a good day.

Ohhhhh so it is ok to disregard orders if the decision came from our hearts. He gave us the elite secret! Fuck this guy.

My CEO is whining about a report and how we got knocked for not innovating this year. Gee, maybe not being face to face at all has a detrimental effect when trying to create a new product. The company will not even allow us to have small team get togethers. The watercooler talk they pretend is not important is where we learn what others are doing, where we get ideas and other paths to try. I am not holding my breath that he will realize his own policies are part of the problem.

Happy Thanksgiving, Kiwis!

Okay never mind Covid, those augmented reality balloons in the Macy's parade are giving me cancer. America, take back your country and never let this happen again!

You mean these?

Now you know you are not alone. Some great people here.

Hey, the Supremes are finally protecting some First Amendment rights. ACB was the deciding vote. 👍 Helps make the day!
