General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I'm only just now getting into this stuff, and something about it is really confusing me. Is there a divide between the Japanese HL folks like Marine and the Western ones like Kiara and Watson? I see people talking about these different 'classes' and shit and it's all extremely confusing.

There is none all hololives are only separated by generation but they can collab with their juniors/seniors after the test period of 1 month after debut

I found Marine to be one of the most talented among the HoloJP, especially for voice acting. I think she's talented enough to even go pro
If Cover can extend their influence and/or power in the industry, Vtubers doing VA jobs is not that far fetched of an idea considering the talents the girls and boys have

Marine seems to be a clear example of "jack of all trades, master of none"
For example
-Fubuki is a better VA
-Kanata is a better singer
-Coco is a better entertainer/shitposter

The only area where she shines is drawing, and that until you add the EN branch, since you could debate that Ina is a better artist than her.
I mean, I still adore the horny captain and is on my top 5 holos

No, JP and EN bros get along surprisingly well, they finally know what the overseas audiences feel. Loving something even though you cant understand what they are saying.
CN and everyone else tho...

And by classes people mean generations, all girls (except 5, rip aloe) have 5 members on their gen, and even then there are subgroups like OKFAMS, GAMERS or BAKATARE, they all can collab with each other without apparent restrictions.

Cover has divided Hololive into regional branches and then into generations. HoloJP, the Japanese girls, is the largest and most popular. HoloCN had 6 members and recently disbanded, HoloID has one generation with 3 members that do modestly well, HoloEN just debuted a couple months ago and has 5 members and they're all doing well, and HoloStars debuted over a year ago and has 3 generations with 10 members in total though some are doing better than others.

So this is just a new form of Idol stuff. Optimistic about it maybe not being as toxic a culture. The folks involved seem to get along well.

For the most part they get along very well. A lot of the worst shit about idol culture hasn't made its way in but some has, like overwork, fans obsessed with purity, the no-boys-allowed rules, and the constant vigilance needed to keep private and streaming lives separate. They don't get much in the way of sexual harassment, ageism, or being exploited by everything and everyone in their market, but they get to replace those with Streamer Problems, like license and youtube issues.

I'd genuinely be interested in seeing guys doing it. There's some dude who does a similar shtick online with an Engineer avi from TF2 and I think that shit's hilarious, and especially with weeb chicks there's a market for 'soft uwu bois'.
