Back during the early holo era, lots of indie vtubers' goal are actually to get noticed and scouted/auditioned by agencies like Cover or Ichikara. This happened not only on Japan, but also like Indonesia where NijiID is more popular than HoloID. The same thing also happened, I think, when Cover announced they' were going tk start an audition for HoloEN

Vshojo was a group that was started by TheGunRun and MowTenDoo, and contains basically a who's who of English Vtubers from the Twitch scene along with some relative unknowns. As for who these two chucklefucks are, TheGunRun is Justin, aka the Justin.tv Justin. Co-founder of Twitch. I'm not sure what he's been up to now but I'm pretty sure he's handed off Twitch long ago and is no longer in any sort of managerial position. MowTenDoo is a programmer and video editor who supposedly made a bunch of games nobody heard about, and is more famous for his song edits on Youtube; Blend W and Weed La Weed are his most popular ones but by far not his only recognized works.

As for who they recruited: ProjektMelody, IronMouse, SilverVale, Nyanners are their main draws; I wouldn't be surprised if this agency was their idea and they only really did it because they're fucking stupid when it comes to actually running a business (most streamers are) and needed that level of protection in case something like Mel's bullshit ever happens again. The other 3 recruits are Zentreya (there's enough here on her that you can make your own decision), Froot (actually BSApricot, a prominent artist for the main 4) and Hajime Hime (Gigguk's fiancee Sydsnap). The reason people here are looking at this group and waiting for an implosion is because Zen and Silver are borderline lolcows in their own right. Mel just has a lot of shit thrown at her and is dumb as a box of rocks, Nyanners is a chan traitor, and Mouse is honestly a very sweet person whose life is fucking rough, to put it mildly, and probably deserves success more than anyone else. I don't think anyone has anything on Froot and good fucking luck trying to get anything out of Syd, that woman is fucking insane as it is but not necessarily a lolcow.

Edit: In possibly the weirdest fucking brand deal ever made, Amelia did a Bookwalker sponsored stream to read a trashy isekai light novel. If I see Calli do a sponsored deal with Raid Shadow Legends I'm fucking out.

The current batch of Indies was more or less a direct result of them failing to get into HoloEN. I don’t think I could name a SINGLE 100k+ chuuba in the ENsphere before HoloMYTH debuted, but after they blew past expectations everyone tried getting a piece of the pie.

but here's the thing: Most of these figures are more fucking grey than the chalk itself since most of them don't interact a lot with the community and they only focus on the donos like that's all of it, zero chat interaction even if its common that a chat moves 2fast since holding up about 5k viewers is not something anyone can handle. zentreya's team VSW = Virtual Streamers Worldwide was made for independent and starters vtubers to be part of this group and in some kind of way to help each other to grow some exposure and after the vshojo announcement many was clearly pointing a huge let down from zentreya to this group and as far i got told he/she/it is not longer the head in charge of such group both on discord or the twitch team.
silvervale its a certified fakeass bitch leeching off exposure from the other girls, same repetitive garbage content and no intentions to actually perform decent contentwise!
ironmouse story may be truth or not but whatever if she's a goodie 2 shoes gal, that doesn't take the fact that she have a cancer community being run by incels and bigot bitches with power-hungry intentions all over her discord server which gives iron an awful looking if anyone is planning to join her community.

What's the deal with Silver? She seems the most "normal" of the group, although I'm getting the impression that doesn't mean much when the others have such a reputation.

Melody seems more primed for a downfall than the others. I looked up her debut streams from earlier this year and she seemed somewhat "with it" then, but she sounds way off now. Her brain works like a fucking markov chain.

I kinda had that inkling prickling the back of my neck this morning too and, going back and thinking about it, it's probably a little of column A, a little of column B. The girls are all gonna be grinding like meth-heads the next few weeks, and I think all that stress Gen 4 is under for being the opening act for both days of the concert, cramming singing and dance lessons, and who the fuck knows what else they have to do, partnered with chinky-winkies bombarding Coco nonstop and getting her visibly frustrated, is probably why she decided to step back from streaming for now and just focus on the BIG part of her job coming up.

Oh, and to be fair to Coco's singing, she has actually improved a great deal from when she first debuted. It's just that, like, 98% of the time, when she's doing singing streams, she's memeing her tits off and not actually trying. On the very rare occasion she does try, she sounds much better than 9+ months ago.
