I'm always willing to give other vtubers the benefit of the doubt and I won't assume/claim any are using a voice changer when they sound like girls but a flat out text to speech program like Zen screams "I'm actually a man"

And yet they amazingly would love to watch any vtuber getting washed by playing smash just because audience want to see variety on the games that vtuber plays.
Either there's a team/manager behind her (the "science team"), or the general aloof-ness is a put on for the Twitch audience. Either scenario is believable at this point IMO, but I subscribe to the latter. Listen to her voice in a "normal" (NSFW) video and a more recent video, for example. It's like two completely different people. I'm not about to tune into her CB streams to see what she sounds like there, but as far as her vtuber career on Twitch goes, the character sucks ass and will be the #1 hurdle for new viewers. Boring as shit. Nyyaners (or however you spell it) was outperforming her today in viewership, although admittedly the stream was unplanned.
She seems good at FPSes like Apex, to my untrained eyes.
Her character setting is that she's a NetNanny-style AI that got exposed to too much degeneracy. But I got the impression that while the sex stuff was the official purpose for her shows on CB, the actual draw was that she was way better at actually interacting with her audience than normal camgirls, so the diddling was sort of like the alcohol at a social gathering; yes, it's why everyone is at that particular spot, but only the hardcore alkies are there primarily for it.
Or that doesn't have a moving background making her motion sick so she has to close her eyes, while not knowing how to make Ness go up.

Trans is trans. I actually know some cool trans people so I try to at least be respectful to them. A dude with a voice changer isn't trans, they're just...a dude. This is why I don't really respect Zen.. He's not trans, he's just a fucking liar. Someone linked it earlier in the thread, but there's a clip of Zen's "real voice" (actually his girlfriend) while Zen accidentally answered a question that he had fed his girlfriend to answer for him.
The science team is her fanbase name, like how Calliope has the DeadBeats or Pekora has the Nousagi. They're not her actual management staff. And her "normal video" is scripted to hell and back. It really is hard to tell how someone sounds when they're reading off a script vs when they're being put live on the spot. Some people are natural entertainers and can do both, but others are terrible at live improv. Mel may be in the latter camp. She's definitely knowledgeable about hentai and Japanese culture but it still surprises me that she doesn't know basic shit like fucking Disney movies or even Internet culture despite probably having grown up with the Internet.
