Self reliance is one of the biggest virtues on the site. Doing your own research and bringing something to the table is a high virtue here and shows you are willing to try and put effort into your posts (usually). The fact that you couldn't search before making a new topic was seen by others as a show of laziness and forcing the work on others, as well as someone who doesn't care enough to try and learn something by yourself. If you can't be informative, be funny, if you can't be funny, be informative, and if you can't be either, sit back and throw useless stickers at people.

Getting upset on the internet over harsh language and meaningless reaction emoticons is something kiwis harshly judge upon: most of us came to the site for free speech and to say the most uncouth stuff without being banned for our humor. If you don't enjoy that you have to excuse yourself from the table. Yes, even when you say something innocuous and someone jumps on your ass about it you should do your damndest to either be mature & ignore them or shitpost back at them. What anyone from a forum filled with morons who judge other morons for existing should not be taken into consideration to your life, both online and off. Besides, if the person to got assblasted at you first its likely that other people will make fun of them instead of you.

I don't know if you're a troll or not, but you gave me some place to put a few thoughts I had about the forums culture and such, so thanks for that. Good luck if you stay.
