So after all the protests and craziness of the BBQ place debacle, the owner; who was only charged for trespassing (on his own fucking property no less) was also slapped with 50k for bail. Our finance minister breached numerous ethics and was slapped with a 200 fine.
Oh Canada!
I am really starting to regret the friends (or lack of) I have in my life. I am trying to respect everyone’s opinion as is their right to be a scared pussy about a overblown cold; however the months have drained on me and having people spend so much effort on telling me how idiotic it is for someone to stand up for our charter of rights; has really sent me over the deep end. It’s a sad reminder that you should never narrow your friends down to only the simple minded. Keep your friend circle wide with many different views.
I’m stuck in a situation where I’m bored and lonely AF but don’t want to spend time with those people (well actually they are all hunkering down for the cold virus apocalypse they think is coming) because it becomes a circle jerk of virtue signalling.

God i can't wait till this insanity ends. To quote akechi:"I refuse to accept a reality concocted by someone else, stuck under their control for the rest of my days.
I don't expect it to end. We live in the era of crisis politics. The war on terror. global warming/climate change and now Covid. It's how the elites have decided to drive change to re-make and reform society to their benefit. All those 'temporary" restrictions on personal liberties will become permanent.

My own take is that most western governments are led by globohomo soft totalitarians. They want to bring in their own versions of the CCP's social credit system, only run by corporations. A weird amalgamation of late stage capitalism, communism and fascism. To protect public health, citizens will have to prove their vaccination status to travel (except for illegal immigrants and asylum seekers obviously). Speaking out of turn on social media about masks, vaccines and lockdowns will also bring punishment. The only thing stopping this is that they're nowhere near the Chinese in terms of population identification and tracking. With the roll out of 5G the expectation is that will change

Georgia update:
As governor Kemp gave no Thanksgiving restrictions, there was a record-breaking spike in cases of the novel unknown coronavirus. The virus has since mutated to quickly turn symptomatic in 24 hours so we definitely know that any spike reported by the tenured epidemiology & virology professors at the media is due to Thanksgiving.
Soon, Georgia will no doubt be leading the country in deaths from the new mystery virus any day now, while the survivors linger on with ever-lasting side effects that damages us for life!

For real though nobody is wearing masks, and outside of cities like Savannah & Brunswick nobody seems to give a fuck anymore. Unfortunately local government & organizations are still cancelling events and making people jump through hoops with reduced hours and what not; but overall not much. Several houses in my parent's neighborhood also had multiple cars over.

Anyway thought I'd give another, and likely my last, update from my pal in Melbourne Australia.

They've now gone 28 days with no cases (officially that means that the virus has been eradicated).

Restrictions still in place:
- Masks still have to be worn in public when inside. They don't have to be worn outside when citizens can safely socially distance but should be worn when they can't. It seems than folks are increasingly ignoring this order and the police have all but given up enforcing it so it's likely this will be dropped soon.

- Limits on restaurants and bars- with maximum number of customers etc. Again my friend tells me that this is being widely flouted. In his experience unless a venue is obviously packed no one give two shits about the limits. The same with tracking and ID’ing customers. Venues are obligated to record the identity of customers. Some will ask you to scan a code with your phone, but won’t bother checking if you have or haven’t. Most will ask patrons to write down their name and number in a register, but no requirements for IDs so it’s pretty much useless.

- Only 25% of a company workforce can work from their office, the rest must work from home. Company's are complying with this although it may be as much to do with the huge cost savings they've enjoyed from having home based workers.

- There are still restrictions on having large groups in homes but again this is being widely ignored.

- Religious services have been resumed but with the same restrictions as apply to shops and cinemas and the like.

All in all life has returned to something approaching normal. Except the economy is completely fucked for many years to come. State and Fed level governments running unprecedented fiscal deficits, mass unemployment hidden under a torrent of government dole, small business facing an avalanche of insolvency after Christmas (it's literally illegal to put a business into involuntary insolvency until then). Fun times.

Boomers made the Internet and yet can't understand it. Go figure.
I thought people like my grandfather (boomer who unplugs his computer whenever he's not using it because he thinks data can be extracted from the device if it's plugged into an outlet -- despite being one of those people who actually helped develop the technology) were few and far in between.

I feel the apathy rising in my area. Those that wear masks do so incorrectly as well so they might as well not bother with it.

Just returned from the commissary (military supermarket) and exchange (military discount/department store). Went today vice Friday because the place was closed yesterday.

Thanks to the fucking media-driven panic buying, have limits on paper products, dishwashing liquid, a couple of other things. Got tissues for us and asswipe for stepdaughter to take home. There was an aisle-long shelf packed with toilet paper/napkins/paper towels. About the only thing I didn't find was a bag of Caesar salad for stepdaughter, but that was likely due to Thanksgiving.

Went by exchange. Got the item I needed and got the fuck out. Place not busy at all, it rarely is.

Added: Got this from a pal. Since it makes sense, the plan is anathema to the fuckwagons who run things.

No virus can get eradicated, even polio can crop up once every blue moon here in the states.

Aussies should enjoy their "freedom" while they can, their leaders will lose their shit when a few new cases pop up.

Cars are the probably the best example of this since they're significantly more dangerous, are full of warning labels, yet people don't care, and predictably, car accidents are the leading cause of death from age 1 to age 40 in most developed countries. If you're under 80 and have a BMI of less than 40, you are far, far, far more likely to die in a car wreck than you are to die of COVID-19 (funny enough, traffic deaths in my state are noticeably up this year compared to last year despite there being almost no traffic in April or May, maybe everyone's just DUI from the misery of 2020 or using the emptier roads to go racing, who knows).

Eh, less than 20k people die from car wrecks every year in America. It's not a great comparison to something that's purportedly responsible for a quarter million deaths, even if the deaths skew to olds and fats. In terms of statistics, it's a little more muddy, for example odds of dying from an auto accident are roughly 1/100 (1%). However that's out of all causes of death, so it doesn't tell you much about your odds of dying on any given day. Odds of simply "being in a fatal car wreck" vary, and are (from a few basic look-sees) more on the order of 1/10,000, so that number would be similar to a 99.99% overall virus survival rate (though not an exact comparison - comparing stuff like this is a mess).

I wanted to add - eradicate the virus, really? WE DID IT REDDIT WE ERADICATED THE (UN)COMMON COLD

Surely people can't be that stupid

It just occurred to me, the ACLU (never mind other similar organizations) has throughout this "pandemic" been pretty much completely silent....Why? Seriously. Their supposed mission statement is to challenge government overreach, hypocrisy, and abuse, and yet none of these so-called rights/liberty advocacy groups have even done so much as raise a finger. Fine, if that's how they're going to behave, then I hope they all go bust for proving to be useless.

Because the ACLU is donning the Joker paint ready to say the meme

Unfortunately, many people are quick to blame Trump, if not the Republican party in general, and feel as if anyone with a (D) after their name is an infallible deity.

I wonder if the entertainment industry brought out their lobby group, attorneys, etc. to lobby for that exemption. Meanwhile, those who live paycheck to paycheck are stuck at home with no idea how they might pay their bills. *sigh*

I think those that aren't blindly obeying the orders realize that the March lockdowns often featured multiple months of subsequent goalpost-moving that they don't want to see again. IMO, I think any upsurge(s) Michigan experienced since the summer is partly because Whitmer kept so many businesses and activites shut down through most of the summer that people fled their houses in droves once they could legally resume the activities they had been missing. Who knows, if things had been permitted on a more gradual scale over the Spring/Summer, maybe we wouldn't be as bad off as we're being told right now. 🤷‍♂️

Most people are truly creatures of habit and gravitate towards a daily routine. The sense of productivity and accomplishment that come with a good day at work, an aerobic workout, or a fun Sunday out with friends and others can do wonders for both the body and the mind. As has been mentioned numerous times, taking that away from people for months at a time is unhealthy.

I think the biggest reason might be that violence would only allow both the mainstream media and Democratic officials imposing the restrictions to further the narrative that it's the right that's violent and selfish when it comes to others and the left are the ones that have everyone's best interest in mind. Sure, that's a rubbish stance, but it's what's being spun -- especially the more people believe Biden is our President-Elect.

I had to go to the hospital lab and my experience was similar in terms of the plexiglass at the check-in windows and mask wearing. Apart from a hand sanitizer station upon arrival into the building and two people performing temperature checks and COVID screenings before people were allowed further into the building, everything else was routine.

At this rate, those cities could make Detroit look more appealing than either of them (and other cities based on the happenings being reported here).

From what I've observed, older people who have to be put into a nursing home because they can't take care of themselves frequently deteriorate quickly or even die a short time later because they see no point in living without any sort of daily purpose or reason to look forward to.

Even for younger people, the lack of anything to look forward to takes a huge mental toll on them. Sure, complaining about the lack of gym workouts, organized sports, or leisure activities may seem like grousing over first-world issues on the surface. However, these are the kind of things that allow people to maintain some sort of physical, mental, and social balance. A life without balance is unhealthy and it can be just as devastating as a sickness or disease.
Honestly watching people blame trump and continue to act like democrats are nigh infallible is a fucking headache
