Okay, the narrative for this has gotten so goddamn muddy that I feel it's worth breaking a few things down.Isn't it risky to let foreign powers have a hand in voting systems, though? The US elections are a big deal, foreigners have plenty of incentives to make the machines vulnerable. This is particularly true when said foreign powers are
Dominion does not hold any sway over votes or our counting of them. They develop hardware and software for voting and tabulating machines.
Now, when it comes to the machines themselves, there are two methods that the US employs based on each state.
Precinct Voting and Central Voting.
Precinct Voting is when the voting machine is set to a specific are and does not connect in any way to a server. These machines are closed networks that are physically picked up and totaled later.
Central Voting is where each machine in a state's various precincts are connected to a centralized server that compiles and totals votes for that state.
There is zero times in which this information goes anywhere outside of the states as even if they were sent back to Dominion HQ & Manufacturing, it would most likely go to their Denver, Colorado branch. And if they were -for whatever crazy reason- to leave the country, they would go to Canada to their Toronto branch
So I don't think we have much to worry about, it would also be incredibly unlikely that a massive hack could take place by China or Russia or whomever because they would have an incredibly short amount of time to hack Central Voting systems, and even then, they would ONLY get the Central systems of that state.
As for Precinct Voting systems being hacked they would have to physically infiltrate and sabotage those machines.
Which is again, unlikely.
