Honestly, Doug is a straight up boomer who never seems to have a handle on the people he brings in outside of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." He's not heartless enough to take notes from EVS, so he should just stick to focusing on the artwork. Amazingly, he still has Preston on as a regular guest. Good thing the EWJ comics don't bring any of this mess with them.
Ethan actively selects the most dysfunctional and tucks it under his wing to grow his little freak subculture. I'm loving the projection onto Mike about his gayops, when Sciverfrog wrote the book on how to do it. The way Ethan has it setup, any one of his loyalists could be banished or reaccepted based on whether they will agree to his unique brand of blame outsourcing and controversy management. If the outrageously maligned Marky Mills could ever be offered a truce, you just know Ro and select WCers aren't too far behind. Liam too!
I also can't rule out Gayfabe in all this. Liam has been knocking it out of the park with his sudden ultra-heel turn. Could this be a way of Ethan keeping Nasser in check while revenging himself on certain longstanding enemies without being directly associated with an attack? It's a longshot. Ethan isn't so much a mastermind as as master manipulator. You can see through it as long as you don't fall in love with a manufactured sense of belonging. People won't find out the price they really paid until after the heist is over. School bus Joker grift.
