Their supposed mission statement is to challenge government overreach, hypocrisy, and abuse, and yet none of these so-called rights/liberty advocacy groups have even done so much as raise a finger. Fine, if that's how they're going to behave, then I hope they all go bust for proving to be useless.

I don't expect it to end. We live in the era of crisis politics. The war on terror. global warming/climate change and now Covid. It's how the elites have decided to drive change to re-make and reform society to their benefit. All those 'temporary" restrictions on personal liberties will become permanent.

My own take is that most western governments are led by globohomo soft totalitarians. They want to bring in their own versions of the CCP's social credit system, only run by corporations. A weird amalgamation of late stage capitalism, communism and fascism. To protect public health,citizens will have to prove their vaccination status to travel (except for illegal immigrants and asylum seekers obviously). Speaking out of turn on social media about masks, vaccines and lockdowns will also bring punishment. The only thing stopping this is that they're nowhere near the Chinese in terms of population identification and tracking. With the roll out of 5G the expectation is that will change

I expect it to end at some point. Humanity can't go through life like this. I remember a kiwi on here pages ago said tax season would kill the lockdowns since it'll affect everyone.

This article was quite informative and discusses the COVID topics that people should have been told and kept in the loop about from the start. It's shame that any attempt to propagate this article might result in having this dismissed as fake news if not outright memory holed.

The telling quote for me was the mention that 130 million additional people will starve based on the lockdowns. That's just wow .

But how telling is it that the ACLU lobbies more aggressively in support of illegal aliens than it does for American citizens impacted by overreaching COVID-19 restrictions?

Whitmer has consistently stated her desire for Federal relief funding ever since she imposed the first restrictions this Spring and state tax revenues plummeted. I don't understand where she and other governors think this money will come from given that Federal revenues are also down. Either the US will go deeper into debt to bail out the states or Biden will have to increase taxes on the working class to make this happen. That's even assuming Biden can bail the states out; wouldn't Congress have to approve such an appropriation? With a split Congress, I can see the Republicans either saying, "LOL, no," or passing something that gives each state a small amount far less than what they're demanding.

Speaking as someone living in a blue state, the only thing these governors deserve is a foot in their ass (after getting tarred and feathered, of course) for ruining their states. Let me explain science, the concept itself is is about uncertainty and questioning. Unquestionable fact/true in theory are antonym of science.
Before all that, it was the dark age a world ruled by theocracy. Religion are based on certainty and truth. As rigid and backward this way of life can be it may reassure the dumb and overly emotional populace of the unknown.
Nowadays we technically deleted religion and ''replaced'' with science. But we still have the same dogmatic view and struggle to challenge what we think as hard fact. So in the end we didn't replace we just renamed thing

No. To follow The Science is to live in a cold, emotionless society where you are literally just a few numbers in some database and statistical models which The Scientists are using to make their decisions on how society should be ran today. We're seeing it right now since we turned the world over to unelected "public health" officials and told them to "minimize cases of this disease". This is what we call technocracy and it's widely regarded as inhuman and easily abused.

It's pretty telling the closest we got to a society based on science is the Soviet Union which tried to use all sorts of fancy central planning models to create scientific socialism. It's well-known the USSR failed because the central planners couldn't keep up with the facts on the ground and used inaccurate data for their models (which is inevitable for all societies ran by scientists).

Just like the USSR, when you start asking bureaucrats to maximize some value like the economy you're going to get some pretty awful shit. It's where you get a neoliberal hellscape similar to what we're headed for but one that doesn't even try and look human. Just go to Reddit or wherever and look for economics or urban planning discussions that mention "efficiency". It's where you get living in a pod and eating bugs since single-family dwellings are inefficient and so is eating meat. All pleasures from caffeinated drinks to alcohol are banned because it's inefficient to produce and inefficient to let citizens consoom that product when they can consoom other product. A science-based society is one of pure unadulterated misery for anyone too poor or unconnected to cheat the restrictions (aka most people).

The ACLU has been captured by young wokelings. The veneer of legitimacy they once had due to defending those whose civil liberties had been infringed upon regardless of their political leanings is loooooong gone. ACLU now overtly only supports free speech their staff of under-35 SJWs deems acceptable that afternoon. The older folks are terrified of the younger ones just like corporate always is these days when faced with the chirping grinning feral mob of dangerhairs it deeply regrets employing.

ETA: I’ve made this point before, but this is a difference between left and right. The right stands up think tanks and such and names them something that indicates the opposite of what they’re actually advocating for. The left captures an existing entity so it can ride the brand name and then turns it entirely against its original purpose. IMO, the latter is far FAR more insidious since it is exploiting the trust the brand name had accomplished to sneak in policies and push legislation that is antithetical to the original mission, which is what supporters by and large imagine they are still supporting.

After losing the house from a hurricane from the beginning of November sucks and me and the family stayed with a cousin, we got back on track on getting a new house on a new location. We haven't moved to it yet, just making sure all things are ready then we got a warning that a really long supercell storm front capable of producing tornadoes heading toward us and our area has a higher chance of getting a couple, plus damaging winds, flooding, and whatnot than other areas.

It's even worse because three days ago, I was looking at the weather forecast and dismissed it as a normal storm because nothing bad about it was said in particular but a twinge of me is telling I should pay attention or book a hotel in another place. I dismissed it as my lingering fear because I was hit badly by a hurricane. Two days, got an alert on my phone warning ahead of it. Gut feeling was roaring at me to leave the area, so I told the family about the alert and they dismissed it. Then today, found out that it got even worse. I'm so sorry for not listening to you, gut feeling of mines.
