I needed to protect my worldview from the personal testimony of my sister, so I started to argue with her that she is wrong, thereby ruining Thanksgiving for everybody. Am I the asshole?

Wouldn't surprise me how the same people would share and upvote other stories about liberal and left-wing people ranting and raving over holidays ruining family gatherings without seeing the irony or the contradiction.

Honestly, don't talk about this shit, especially in this fucking year. Real men would realize the holidays means putting aside political differences for a little while for the sake of being together.

Based on what little I saw on this site, his historical observations are often horribly bad takes too. "The Confederacy could have just won the civil war if they kept advancing after Bull Run" is absolute nonsense and shows he knows nothing about military history at all. He also said the Axis could have won WW2 if Japan had attacked the USSR, even though the reason Japan attacked the USA and the Dutch East Indies was because the USA had put an oil embargo on them so they wouldn't have been able to support an industrial war effort without seizing the Indonesian oil fields. Not to mention that Far Eastern Siberia is quite a long way from most of the USSR's industry and population and they couldn't "just" march across Siberia until they got to the Urals.

I actually like alternate history to some extent, but only if it's reasonably plausible, not "my side won because they were awesome geniuses and the other side just gave up". Moldbug was obviously reading that kind.

I gave up on The New Order: Last Days Of Europe after it was full of unrealistic nonsense like Atlantropa and various insane Russian warlords being capable of anything but collapsing, but even that was realistic compared to Moldbug.

I’m not sure I totally agree with this. Biden is currently telling people he thinks he can work with Mitch McConnell because they were in the Senate together for years. That sounds very much like delusional centrist Obama 2008 talk.

Personally I’d put Biden and Obama right there together.
