There was news this week that there might be a sequel to Keanu Reeves' Constantine film based off the DC Character. My guess is Film Robert googled Constantine to have some useless DC Knowledge to act like he knows comics and discovered there was a Roman Emperor named Constantine who was responsible for Christianity become mainstream in Rome and has been salivating to use this new knowledge for days waiting for the right tweet to sound smart.

I swear he really is Fredo.

The original Godzilla (1954) is highly regarded amongst critics now.
View attachment 1756067

However you have to keep in mind these are "retrospective" reviews. Most critics back in the 50s seemed to hate the American version of the film (which itself was HEAVILY altered from the Japanese one). The original Japanese Godzilla is less "goofy men in suits fight each other for kids entertainment" and more "post-WWII metaphor for the devastation of nuclear weapons as expressed by a country still hurting from them". For example after Godzilla's attack on Tokyo you get depressing, lingering shots of city ruins and over-capacity hospitals trying desperately to save injured survivors with an atmosphere more akin to a war film than what you'd typically expect from a Godzilla film.

In a previous video Bob acknowledged these somber themes but also seemed pissed that critics viewed it that way instead of just a big dumb fun monster movie: https://youtu.be/RkIPtaoEqOk?t=152 (2:32)

Big difference between the original Godzilla:

And what Bob wants Godzilla to be:

I kind of liked Shin Godzilla (for a modern Godzilla movie) due to the fact it touched on some of those ideas from the original source (kinda sorta). It was more a movie about how would the government/ cast of characters representing authority deal with a big monster rampaging around. Not to mention that has one of my favorite interpretations of Godzilla being a monstrous genetic mutant. All in all a pretty fun take on the whole series.

It's like Bob is a pseudo intellectual faggot who is more interested in sounding smart than in actually refining his palate to a degree necessary to critique an actual work of art.
Honestly I have more respect for children that say "I want to see Godzilla slap around other monsters" then I do with Bob acting like this is some sort of important cultural movie or whatever. These are stupid popcorn movies, and you aren't missing out just watching it on a monitor at home.
Then again I can't help but think its all mostly Bob getting mad that he is missing an excuse to eat a couple hundred dollars worth of theater candy with a extra large double buttered popcorn for a chaser.

Yeah, that was what I was referring to when I mentioned the critics. When Godzilla 1985 came out, one critic hated that it wasn't funny, not even understanding what Godzilla is supposed to be a metaphor for.

Making a mental note that the next MCU movie is called "Black Widow" in the event Bob randomly starts tweeting spider facts.

I actually tried looking up earlier if Bob had said anything about Shin Godzilla but couldn't find anything. Considering how recent it is and how much praise it got you'd think Bob (who is supposedly such a huge fan) would have said something about it. That he apparently didn't only further shows that Bob only cares about the silly schlocky "Godzilla vs ____" movies rather than any which try to convey more serious themes like the original.

We all know that Blob didn't know how to spell Nicaea or what date the council was held. So he googled it to then tweet it and seem smart to his pack of retards.

The funny thing is, that's the sort of thing that I'd do when I was a smug teenager trying to impress others. Poor Bob really never aged mentally.
Nah he was reading the thread then googled all the terms we were throwing around.

Is it bad if I only know Constantine through his appearance in the Arrowverse? Then again, I probably still know more about the character than Bob does.

It's a movie about the bureaucracy and shittyness of the modern Japanese government. It draws on the imagery of the 2011 tsunami, in a similar manner the original Godzilla drew imagery from the dropping of the atomic bombs. It uses the original as a base and modernizes the message for a modern Japan. It's not just about how the government would react.

In your defense, the Arrowverse Constantine seems to be more well known with DC fans than Keanu Reeve's version (also the actor for the Arrowverse Constantine voiced the character in some DC animated movies).

I agree with @Caustic Gelatin that Shin Godzilla is a compelling watch and one of the few, maybe the only film of the franchise on par with the 54 original.
I’m also very curious if cinephile robertus has seen it and what he thinks, but wouldn’t be shocked if his conclusion went something like “it was okay but couldn’t compare to the cheesy monster vs monster slugfests of muh childhood.”
After all, he is a braindead consoomer who would rather not contend with something thematically deeper than a puddle, instead assigning such value to glorified toy advertisements he finds comforting Escapism in.

I know its Film Robert's thread but I have to say since the pic is here but Damn Dan Olson looks like a Pedo in that group shot.
He always looks like a pedo. Because he is a pedo.
Am I blind or has Kino Robert's latest deleted John Galt moment not been posted yet?

Bob, just because you were called a weirdo doesn't mean that you are extraordinary. Or at least not in any good way. Also, extraordinary people build off the numerous, small discoveries made by less remarkable people, and all of them depend on the labor of the common man to do anything at all. Extraordinary works of genius are necessary for human progress but geniuses are not the only people who matter.
Goddamn he is retarded. Imagine thinking anyone cares about an interview with some literally-who former video store employee, let alone is clamoring so hard to hear it that they’d pay you money every month. :story: As always, Chris is greeted with zero likes, comments or shares no matter how many unnecessary exclamation points he forced into the post. And like a true lolcow, he will continue refusing to learn, and will continue doubling down.

Guy's, he's "worked several video stores in Canada"! That cracks me up that Chris thinks that anyone wants to hear that. I've worked some menial jobs too in my life but you don't see me trying to get on podcasts for it.
This is not only an amazing display of ignorance but it isn't even compatible with Bob's insane hateful beliefs either. I mean, up until now he's claimed that these people are completely irredeemable subhumans. If they're just sick people who need pills, wanting them dead is some serious Aktion T4 stuff.

I haven't watched any of the WB DC shows in like 3 or so years it seems like, but I'm glad to see that Matt Ryan is still playing Constantine. Before he did voice work for the movies he was on a Constantine show in 2015 on NBC, I thought it was pretty good, I was apparently one of the only ones who thought so though so it got only one season. He was a more faithful version of the character than the Reeves version.

Breaking News, (And likely a few sofas,) Blobert just called the Council of Nicaea the worlds first "big stupid fan campaign"

I can almost hear the groan of his chair as he leans back smugly, euphoric at his own intelligence.
This is Bob in a nutshell. Always trying to grab hold of a ring that is well out of his intellectual reach, missing, and not skipping a beat before doubling down on his completely wrong premise.

I don't know if he has a deep insecurity that causes him to do this in hopes that people will be fooled into thinking he is some kind of genius or if he really doesn't know that he misunderstands almost everything that he talks about.

But one of the most grating things about this guy is he is constantly using language and concepts incorrectly, not just twisting the meaning but he can't even connect things into a coherent sentence.

Ignoring for a moment that religious schisms and reconciliations were a thing for thousands of years before Christianity, Nicea was the exact opposite of a fan movement. If he had said the Arian controversy/heresy it would have at least matched the stupid concept that he was trying to link in spite of being a fairly late example of the phenomenon in human history.

But I guess that wouldn't have given him the satisfaction of thinking he had blown everyone's mind by bringing up something he heard in a freshman humanities class.

And surprise surprise, when people end up owing you their lives, they tend to sign up for your little religion.
One of my favorite things is that the Muslims would learn to pick up this trick a few centuries later.

I see Moviebob is still trucking along after getting chumbawumba'ed. And I'm very disappointed in his brother. Like what the fuck did Bob tell him? Because you would think a guy with like three kids, a wife, a 4 year degree, and a house would have some self awareness. Some knowledge of the world, and how to survive, but nope. Pissed it away. Like, how the shit does that happen to a guy.

So, I'm not a native English speaker, and I always thought that "butch" and "dyke" were pejorative terms when referring to lesbians. I'm pretty sure lefties got mad at Christopher Hitchens for that video in which he explains why he thinks women aren't funny, and says that women comedians are all "butches and dykes" or something like that.

Anyway, I'm just posting this to ask native English speakers how offensive those terms are. Since Bob is using it here and his fans seem to have no problem with it, I'm confused. Sorry for the off-topic post. Just in case, to keep it on-topic: Bob is fat.
"Butch" just mean "manly". In the not-distant-past you could call a man "butch" but nowadays the connotation is invariably "lesbian". "Butch" is widely accepted by lesbians themselves so is not considered a term of abuse, indeed the offending term in Bobby's description is not "butch", but "hot", which turns women into sexual objects.

The word "dyke" has sexual connotation so, although the term is likewise accepted by lesbos, it has bigger potential to insult and objectify.

Robert is currently angry over people making fun of him over his capeshit fetish:

As if people laughed at him simply for reviewing MCU. It isn't as though he said stupid things like comparing MCU to Sophocles and Shakespeare.

The arrowverse version is more accurate to the canon.

Also it's half a continuation of...
