People are acting like the use of the word 'apartheid', at all, is the worst thing ever and that it can never be represented in games?

NeoGaf already spinning the controversy with "first time that I heard about a controversy" and "the dev wrote it in KiA. He is a piece of shit that doesn't want a honest discussion".

9 months ago, nascent parts of GamerGate was saying "Keep progressive politics out of videogames!" and anti-GG were saying "Politics in video games is an important way to educate people."

Now it's the other way around. The mind boggles. Who besides revanchist white supremacist South Africans could get offended at a video game showing the evils of apartheid? The SJWs found a way.

I think the important thing is that GG was mostly campaigning to keep progressive politics for the sake of progressive politics out of games. Deus Ex gets away with it because it's not preachy, it's not in your face, and most of all, DEUS EX IS FUN.

NeoGAF is the same site that purports to be about social justice whilst being run by an open misogynist. It stopped being relevant ages ago and we'll be richer for having lost it.

To be clear, the argument wasn't "Keep progressive politics out of games," it was "Keep politics out of games that don't fucking need them." There's plenty of games which are good, if not great specifically because of political involvement or discussion. Fucking everything in the Ivalice canon from Square counts, as does Front Mission. Plenty of other games address it just fine, too, from the Assassin's Creed series to the later Hitman titles. People didn't want Social Justice/Identity Politics fail in their games, and that was the centerpiece of the opposition.

Really though, this is just the anti side trying to redirect criticism to the AAA publishers again. A rainbow-haired indie dev could churn out a game called "Apartheid", make it all about the struggles of an -insert member of acceptable minority group here-, have the dialogue consist of nothing but the word 'apartheid,' and they'd lap that shit up like ice cream.

Like I said in a previous comment of mine, Bob is still in the mentality of Mario and Sonic rival age. Ironically he's amongst the many anti gg vg critic who said that 'vidya gaems need to grow up'. Either all that fat is getting to his drone brain or Anita's honeyed lies are able to sway him to do stupider comments.

That actually has a bit of a story behind it:

Back when Blod was still with the Escapist he was doing his the Big Picture series. In one of the early episodes he was talking about Halo Reach when all of a sudden he pointed out the fact that in the video on the background the soldier's eyes turned into blue. He then put a picture of a hitler smiley face (can't remember the exact image but I am 100% sure it was a reference to hitler's aryan race). Thus in Fatoverthinker's mind Halo = white supremacy.

Also as I mentioned before Moviefart still lives in the NES era mentality, so for him Halo, COD and any other game from after the 90s is a 13 year old screaming in the mic white boy game.
