Funny thing about armor in general: I've also heard the complaint that armor that actually is protective and looks similar to what men wear is sexist because then you're not creating something specifically for women and thus fall victim to the infamous "man in drag" depiction of a woman.
You just can't win with these people, can you?

I don't know how we got to the point where somebody whose expertise seems to lie more in television shows and Disney movies managed to become the Queen of Feminist Vidya Critique (despite not caring for the medium at all), but the fact that more life-long, female gamers aren't bothered by this is concerning to me.

And she was kind of full of shit about that, too. Look at her critique of that one episode of the Powerpuff Girls about feminism.

Honestly, this is one of our foremost cultural critics these days? This is who we have to measure up against the likes of Gilbert Seldes?... Our culture has deevolved.

She needs to keep her filthy mitts off that episode. Incidentally it wasn't about feminism but misandry. . .it was actually about people like Anita Sarkeesian. Incidentally, Lauren Faust storyboarded the episode.

Kind of makes me sad that the new PPG remake has literally no one involved with the original series involved and has a bunch of SJWs on the writing/VA staff. Sadly Faust seems to have become much more like Sarkeesian as time went on, I'm guessing she was (and still is) made to feel guilty about a lot of things and has to say it was all mistakes.

Was it any surprise that she didn't get the joke?

I hope it tanks. At least the execs aren't going to want to remake, say, Johnny Bravo or Ed, Edd n Eddy or even Cow and Chicken. Imagine what clusterfucks those would be.

She apparently thinks that the subject was a little too heavy for a kids' show, but you know what? So what. It was a lesson that needed to be told.

Lauren Faust at least hasn't gone full SJW...

I don't think is that big. Given how toxic are the SJW and their ability to backstab anyone, I bet many are just afraid of being in the middle of a crossfire and losing friends; and let's face it, is truly an small group and there is nightmare stories of female gamers getting harassed before the SJW decided leech on this. People follow Anita not because she is a good cultural critic but because she has constructed the image of a martyr. Her actual opinion, ironically, doesn't matter as much of her 'fight'. In that regard, many people (not only female gamers) can disregard her contradictions and her ignorance of the games she is bitching about because she is "fighting for all". And if you are not fighting for her is more easy to disgregard you.

Anita fans have the horrible habit of calling anyone names because you disregard a minor thing in her video. So most people just want to this shit to be over.

I'm going to say that if she's seemed more extreme, it's the uberfeminists basically forcing her to, or else she'd be forced out of the industry by a lynch mob. to this day though, her main complaint about that episode is that so few people actually comprehended the fucking point.

And if I'm not wrong, Lauren got a lot of shit for that episode and general for her view on feminism.

This bolded here is something that bothers me too, I still remember her initial kickstarter where she got shitload of money because she was harassed. I myself was staying away from it, and I guess this sentiment went for other people who saw trough bullshit but didn't bother pointing out her fallacy. Fuck, even this person that I used to follow for a good time, only thing she said about it that Anita doesn't deserve harassment (and I stay by that sentiment too) but in same sentence used misogynistic neck beard bros and that just struck me by, so ok, they said that, but Anita isn't harrassed because she's a woman, she's harassed because she's a person who's coining this weird and shitty paranoid narrative around medium for which she gives zero fucks that everything is sexist and misogynistic. It made me realize many are still pussyfooting around this unfortunately, myself included. I also witnessed other side that just recently got into gaming like 2 years ago, and they follow Anita on twitter and regularly bitch about games in same asinine way Anita does. No research, no knowledge, just straight on bitching about because someone there out on tumblr/twitter told her it was problematic. She saw somewhere on twitter that this E3 FINALLY HAS SOME FEMALE PROTAGONISTS! WHAT A SHOCK, WHAT A NEW THING! (ignoring that E3 was filled basically with sequels and almost zero original stuff except for The Last Guardian, I might be wrong in this)

That's how far it fucking goes. I dare to say that female gamers probably hang out mostly on other places aside of Tumblr and they are keeping to themselves their opinion. If people reblogged more about pointing shit in Anita's stuff there would be more information floating around, but I guess good portion either doesn't care or won't do it because they are scared of backslash. And I forgot to mention our usual Tumblr type of people, ones who will gobble up everything that reads how someone hurts their fee fees and makes them triggered.

But even then I think people will start to slowly see trough this false narrative. What Anita and Josh are doing, it isn't bettering the situation, it's making other people who might wanna try gaming out a doubt and scare because there's this imaginary bogey man in shape of Doritos and Mountain Dew lurking around. This is utter bullshit.

Uhh, I might went overboard with a rant :V.

Nah, the funny/sad thing was how pissed SJWs got at the original staff/VAs of the show not even being asked/informed about the remake. Just accusing them of racism/sexism/ageism and everything else under the sun.

IIRC, she doesn't like it now simply because she said it wasn't fun enough. But yeah, she has gotten more extreme. Shirtgate was quite an infamous event to show how she has, she would never be quiet about it.

I don't know whether to let that go or criticize them for it...

I still say she's not as extreme as Anita. Probably not full-on SJW. Admittedly, I can understand why she thought it wasn't fun enough... But how fun can an episode like that get?

(Thankfully "Buffalo Gals" was only ever shown once...)

That's because women do not actually enjoy looking sexy, they are conditioned to think so by the Patriarchy. Once they go through proper reeducation they will learn to stop looking sexy, the bitchesbecome fully and properly liberated womyn who don't care about looking attractive to anyone unless it leads to immediate benefit.

Maybe if they want people to stop using stereotypes of feminists as women who are just jealous of other women who are prettier than them, maybe they shouldn't focus on things women do to make themselves pretty? I hear this stuff all the time about how they go up to women on college campuses and tell them to stop wearing makeup because of patriarchy or something.

Also, a general trait of the sorceress and wizards in the Witcher world is that they are kind of vain in general, even if the are decent-good persons. Thought I agree that Ciri has little excuse given she is a powerful warrior trained by the best witchers of the world in the run of a interdimensional army and she cannot look pretty when most fights with her end with she covered in enemy blood or transporting from one place to another to dismember arms from different guys and monsters ... is good that she is not only higheels damesel being there to show boobs, right Anita?

It seems that Anita is starting to get into the act as well with a character from Witcher 3.

I understand how silly high heels can look on a female fighter though.

EDIT: The Assassin's Creed outfits (even the guys) are not accurate enough and are a bit problamatic.
Just gonna say about high heels: they were first used by Persian archers when on horse back in order to be more stable when using a bow. Also, when they were in Europe, they were more for fashion purposes and who is to say the sorceress from Witcher 3 wears the high heels for something else other than fashion? One can get in to a deep discussion as to why high heels are bad on a battlefield but when considering how a video game can make some things null and void like with say having your head hit with in arrow in Oblivion and you don't take much damage, one may as well ask how much logic is really just being employed and how much of everything is being handled in terms of mechanics.

Also, looking the high heels Siri worn, whose to say Siri didn't get use to fighting in high heels, not to mention having the mutations and benefits of being a witcher like Geralt?

Are people fucking with Bayonetta?

Where?! Where are they?! I'll make them pay for mocking high heels like that!
You had some people say Bayonetta is problematic because of said high heels. Same went for Samus. As much as how logic could be on their side, Bayonetta has something like magic and Samus is using advanced technology (along with having some alien DNA). Those can render some logic moot.
