His recent activism is the start of a pivot in my opinion, even if its only a small one. He's going for the big leagues by trying to win over large swaths of people who attended in person, and push them towards his side. If you listen to any of his speeches he spends a good amount of time going after opposition such as Charlie Kirk and various congressmen. These people are his competitors and by weakening the opinion of a solid chunk of the conservative base I think he's making a power play. He's either going to try and go 3rd party with some sort of America First party, or attempt to form a coalition of republican's in line with his goals.
It never ceases to amaze me how someone with an IQ above jogger sea level could begin to take this seriously for even one second. It speaks volumes about the levels of collective delusion the groypers have built up.

It wouldn't have taken a particularly large brain or interdimensional 4d chess skills to have seen the shitstorm this would bring about. Definitely no need for 20/20 since even a few long time groypers turned against Nick over it.
The absolute caliber of the savior of the white race, who is going to outsmart the GOP zog machinations with optics and irony, is put on display more or less every day for the world to see.
On a more serious note, this speaks to the problem amnats are having where they are running out of people to bring over to their side. They've won over as many polacks and alt-liters as they're ever going to get. Hell, they've even dug so low as to bring well established lolcows like Matt Forney into the fold, who is now big with the irony bros. Hilarious when you consider how years ago Anglin would write blog posts breaking his balls. Or the literal borderline rapist Roosh who is now another one of the most pious trad christians around.
As for how many Qtards Fuentes is going to charm into his kekistani 2.0 big tent, it will directly correlate to how much he'll get away blessing Israel and how good he can keep the cookie monster under wraps from them. If there's one thing that's absolutely certain, it is that not even an army of groypers would ever be able to redpill one single boomer on that front. Also the amnats are coping hard right now that with all the chaos going on and the Jones endorsement, his opponents have somehow magically lost all power. In reality, there's more material then ever to pick from, and the media only have to wait for the opportune moment, when the next hitpiece will tear up any gains he might've made with normies.
But even going with the best case scenario where he dilutes his message so much that he manages to convert part of the boomerwaffen to his side, getting anywhere close to taking over the GOP is still quite the reach, to put it very nicely.
Now that he sees another opening to gain relevance (possibly with the help of Milo and/or feds) and the irl streamers like Baked or people like Ralph are a liability, because yes, they are terrible optics for anyone trying to be mainstream. But even with disavowals, are they too entrenched? Are you going to tell one of your best friends Baked to stay away? Is he going to tell Ralph to keep his name out of his mouth when the groypers make up some of the DLive audience and he needs all the clout he can get? I think it might be too late. If he gets even close to the mainstream, the press has a truckload of bad things to say about him and people will bring up Kami and Baked.
We already have tradcath Baked Alaska slapping a drunk twerking coalburner's ass on stream, as recently as last month. Fuentes will not disavow Baked period. This is the guy who leaves a wreak behind every movement he gets even tangentially involved with. The levels of drama that he would be capable of stirring up if he felt truly slighted by his best friend would make internet history for all eternity. Again, this is Beaked Alaska we're talking about, the biggest optics respecting, Christ fearing Trump supporter there is and whose time has now come, 5th? year running. He is capable of single handedly crashing AF with no survivors, both intentionally and unintentionally.
