But actual racism is hard to fight. It would also involve potentially dealing with a racist who won't immediately bow down and apologise the moment they're called out, like most of these people do.
Far, far easier to find an absolutely nothing issue online and try to make it a big deal. No real threats to your personal safety, no dealing with complex issues and nuances, and whether it backfires or not you can always play the victim while bullying someone.
These are simple thinkers with little in the way of complex thought, and they're lazy cowards to boot. No wonder they only fight the most inconsequential fights.
As I recall, it wasn't until Happy Home Designer that you could choose to melanate yourself without standing outside for hours in July. I don't know if New Leaf's update fixed that because I no longer have it. Before that people understandably complained that you were limited to a single skin tone. There was an afro wig but I think that was it in terms of black styles. However, you may have noticed that A LOT of Japanese games with character customization have afro wigs. Why? I do not know. It's usually a huge blaxploitation parody fro too. Didn't FF13 have a guy with a bird living in his fro?
It seems anything where certain customization choices can be made that skew towards one group or another attract a lot of Twitter spergery. Just look at The Sims. They want to gatekeep when anyone with hair can do whatever they want with it in the Western world.

It is totally made for Twitter and it's ilk. Anything fun and creative gets hijacked as soon as a tiny bit of representation is given. This is why you usually want to stay away from video game franchise communities.
Anyway, I had to google space buns because I have never ever heard these words together in my life. It's like Sailor Moon without the pigtails. HHD (and I think NL) also had something sorta similar Chinese buns style. The buns were uncovered. It was the closest thing to afro puffs I guess. No one said you had to be Chinese to wear them. No one said you had to be Japanese to wear the Kintaro wig. But make some afro puffs and bam! Girlfriend you better be black or I'm gonna cut you.

I don’t remember it all that well, but he may have posited that just like everything else influenced by geography, the available animals impacted how society developed (or did not develop). I thought the thing with sub Saharan Africa was more about the north-south thing, though, since donkeys would not seem to be necessary when one has like, elephants or something around to fill the niche.

Not sure what stardewleaf's bf was trying to prove by posting pics of himself on his alt but he posted an image with a large paragraph and three pictures of himself. (tweet | archive) keep in mind both he and stardewleaf are in their thirties and have been feeding the trolls and making questionable decisions that some of their followers questioned them for. It's mostly her bf who has been messing up and picking fights with people like one of the mods on their discord who told stardewleaf that it was a bad idea to retweet from one of the accounts that posted about Dylan.
There's other stuff to add to this stupid drama but at this point it's devolved into watching two groups of idiots fling shit at each other.
