Hershey's Kisses’ classic Christmas bells ad got a makeover — and people are outraged - If it Ain't Broke dont fix

Imagine giving a shit about commercials

Imagine looking up a commercial in your free time

Imagine getting triggered by a commercial because it's different from the old one.

This is nothing short of peak consumerism, getting attached and sentimental about something designed to sell you more shit you don't need.

Imagine looking up someone looking up a commercial in their freetime and getting mad about it and getting mad about it.

Imagine getting triggered by someone getting triggered by someone getting triggered by a commercial because its different from the old one.

The Hershey's Christmas Bells ad is one of those mainstays in American pop culture that is ingrained in so many people's memories, it's one of the few cases where getting upset isn't consoomer BS simply because it's been in the public consciousness since 1990.
So... an ad designed to sell you chocolate has been playing for so long that people feel nostalgic for it... that's kind of sad.

I never said it was a good thing.

Apparently, the phenomenon of Christmas Bells becoming the holiday mainstay that it is now was all due to the ad execs at Hershey figuring out that it'd be cheaper to reuse the successful ad the next year since holiday-themed ads are a lot more timeless generally speaking. By that point, it became a holiday tradition.

I'd say the same line of logic would apply for the "He does exist!" M&M's commercial from the 90's.

People are just tired of blacks being forced into everything.
I don't know if it's so much that as it is black "culture" being forced into everything. Example, I was at the grocery store the other day and they had some trap-ified version of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from the Nutcracker playing. No, we can't just keep traditions as they are. Gotta throw some trap beats over that shit because it's Current Year.

Don't forget the melting snowman Campbell's soup commercial

Wasn't there that huge nothingburger like a couple years ago with the cheerios commercial that had an interracial couple?
I swear I only saw people talking about people complaining so I'm assuming this is some weird reverse psychology to get more people to watch and talk about it like usual.

Either way hersey wins with the free publicity.

Christmas is already corrupted by Consoomer bullshit that's as obnoxiously pandering as it is every other time of the year.

There's a reason nobody cares for ads nor the sponsors that YouTubers have to waste 5% of a video's length shoehorning in.

Whenever an ad is made that shows a caucasian woman with a black man it feeds into /pol/propaganda that the corporate brands want to genocide the white race.

Because ads really are appearently that powerful to us.

I think part of the prevalence of blacks in commercial advertising is due to the fact they save less and spend more of their income on these non-essential consumer products, so they are an ideal target demographic. If it was purely globohomo virtue signalling at play, there would be more Hispanics and Asiatics in the commercials, but those types are more frugal and less inclined to impulse purchases. So instead it's all blacks and mixed race blacks.

I could understand if it was politically charged aka woke but it's just a dad and his daughter celebrating Christmas.

Agreed completely, but I think more people are pissed that it was inserted into the iconic "Christmas Bells" commercial more than anything else. If the commercial was the same but with a White dad and daughter, there'd still be a backlash.

Ideally, the goal would be to make two different commercials and run them. Christmas Bells is already pre-made and doesn't cost that much for Hershey to run.

Hershey chocolate tastes like throw up, why anyone likes it is beyond me.
the chocolates not that bad, really it's the shortage/near extinction of genuine cacao plants that contributed to the decline in quality of ALL chocolate products. as for the commercial itself, it reminds people of simpler time, a better time, and frankly i couldn't care if the father and daughter was black, white, asian or Hispanic ...just give them their own commercial and leave the old one alone. as the op headline says. If it isn't broke don't fix it
