Regarding the apparent and imminent repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the future of this website.

Honestly, I hope that his real intentions is the repeal of that 'crucial spending bill' (the National Defense Authorization Act)... or getting the megacompanies to play by their own rules.
Donald Trump did this 'look over there!' trick already with other bills.
I dont know how you people can still pretend this guy is playing 4d chess or some gay shit like that

I haven't even been here for very long, and now it's very likely that this place will shut down. :heart-empty:

Shit news I'f it ain't doomposting.

Thanks to @Null for keeping the site up and every faggot posting for putting a smile to my face every day for five years. It's been a pleasure lurking and (only recently) posting.

I'll miss this place. Perversely enough for a forum dedicated to laughing at people, it's one of the few civilized places left on an increasingly nightmarish Internet.

Null did great work keep it going for as long as he did but perhaps it's for the best.

All these people like me who spent far too much time on here need to go out and talk to people in the real world. The Internet will be hostile territory for anyone who isn't a complete communist and hopefully, that will get them involved in things that can make a real-world difference.

The hug box is closed and the world is going to shit. Go out and do something to stop that.

Now where will I make libelous claims and direct harassment at people I dont like?

The lolcow farms are the problem, the free speech a&h, deep thoughts, etc are the parts of the site with some value, even though the shit lolcow moderators ruin that a bit.

There's nothing noble about doxing and harassing people. Boohoo I might be liable for the damage I purposely inflict!

Lol you don't even know what section 230 is or does if you think it has anything to do with bad words.
Kill yourself immediately.

You may think that I live overseas, and therefore do not have to worry about American law. This is false. I am not a fugitive from the law, I am not hiding from my government, and almost all of my real assets are in the United States. I am, more so than most other people, beholden to the rule of law in the United States. You cannot ask that I become a fugitive from the law, that I go to Russia or China and live my life there for the sake of this website. I would choose not to. Perhaps the next person to try this will, but this is where my line is. I am having my 28th birthday this month, and my priorities are changing to that of a man nearing his thirties. I can no longer be a renegade.

This particular part hits home for me. I started joining this site on the first day of the new year, and I have noticed more people like yourself now struggling with the idea that living in America’s version of the Internet is not the same as it used to be. It also hurts that we have to probably start thinking about moving to different places around the world that have no time or issue(s) to worry about nonsensical phrasing like “hate speech” or “the Internet being a free and fair place for all” being said by Silicon Valley.

@Null you are not the only one that thinks this, and if you shut down this site, I won’t be sad or mad. Still, it will be disappointing and concerning that we have now have to be suited towards the idea that people that don’t know how to use the Internet, and people having to fake the “family friendly” persona to portray a fake version of themselves online will now REPEAL 230 as an excuse to destroy the rest of us that remember when the Internet was just a unique place for all sorts of characters to use.

Hopefully something changes here, because if it’s not Trump, it could be Biden who will be pushed over to do something like this. We know his team has seen the “Dementia Joe” memes on here or 4chan.
