Regarding the apparent and imminent repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the future of this website.

Lol, did you vote for biden to repeal 230 instead?

Hurr durr trump made biden think of it! The democrats never wanted to restrict speech before him!
Lol assuming I’d vote for anyone who would vote to repeal it.
Just because I think Trump is a diaper shitting retard doesn’t mean I think Biden is any better.

All the 8chan refugees that flocked here because they thought the farms were a pro-trump hugbox are now on suicide watch. In all seriousness though this is fucking AIDS. Ever since Section 230 began to be a center of discussion the narrative of it being “the communist law that lets twitter ban me for being right wing” has been spread around and it’s infuriating. Section 230 getting repealed is only going to make sites like Twitter and Facebook become even more empowered to hyper-censor their platforms to the degree that even Youtube in its current form will look like 4chan’s early days by comparison.

First of all, saying that because I disagree with Dear Leader I must support the entirety of your enemy's beliefs is exactly the sort of argument that a Reddit SJW would make, so careful with the fedoralord libertarianism there, frienderino.

Second of all, acting like there is literally no space between Reddit and KiwiFarms is obviously false. If his vision of the future is correct and no site like KiwiFarms could exist post-230, then Null can run a site that is some percentage of his perfect website, or he can run nothing at all. Nothing could accelerate the collapse of free expression on the internet more than every site right of Reddit shutting itself down out of fear and not even trying to fight. Null knows lawyers, programmers, "influencers", etc. - there absolutely is some way that websites will be able to survive the future and he knows people who could help him do so. Worst-case scenario might be that the site has to go down for a while as Null figures out how to legally cover his ass and reopen with some restrictions.

You act like me saying that compromise is an option is worse than me advocating for the total destruction of the freedoms you are trying to protect. Null is not fighting for freedom by destroying the site - he's actively shifting the landscape towards the Reddits of the world.

Have fun talking to nobody, alone in your room, because the absolute purity of your beliefs couldn't be reconciled with a hostile social environment for a little while. That sounds so much better than being able to express yourself with a somewhat limited vocabulary on a website that otherwise still provided diversity of thought. And I am sure Null will be so much happier in 10 years as he works in his cubicle making someone else rich and knowing that there are gossip sites out there who ate KiwiFarms' corpse and built a fortune out of a market he abandoned.

Again, he should fight for his sake, not for your sake or my sake or the sake of freeze peach - but him choosing not to fight hurts all of the above and helps nobody.

So if I took a big shit in your icecream sundae, you'd still eat it?

Late, but this makes me so sad. Going to miss you all. I'm hopeful that this is all a huge bluff and the free Internet lives to see another day.

Our only hope is that the internet becomes so shit no one uses it anymore, the industry around it dies, and we get some sort of internet renaissance in a decade.
The likelihood is that you will be paying your bills with the Facebook™ Cashapp™ App for Justice to pay the carbon taxes on your pod, watching a legally mandatory ad for the blackwashed Citizen Kane remake directed by Jordan Peele between each bill, while your phone camera streams everything you do to a state corona-compliance manager outsourced in pakistan. If you take your mask off for more than 10 seconds your pod will initiate sensitivity training before temporarily suspending you from life without the ability to appeal (because you're dead.)

There are men with a lot of money and power who want America to go back to the Main Street of small retail businesses and a news landscape of three TV channels, a single daily newspaper, and the odd AM radio station, all of which say pretty much the same thing. Jay Rockefeller has said that we must go back to before the internet.
None of these powerful interests want to go back to "Main Street" or "small retail businesses".

Godspeed, lads. Never thought I’d create an account here after lurking and knowing the potential dangers for several years. Have had a ton of fun and unironically met a ton of great people in this shithole. In the event the site does tumble down, I don’t regret this timesink at all.
