If you think "technology" and "finance" are legitimate parts of the economy then you've drunk the koolaid. if we instituted protectionism and some form of state socialism then people would have lots of jobs with good wages

But yes, ever since wages increased during 70s and 80s when the economy deindustrialised, you have both parents going out to work. At first, families apparently got richer because of the double income, cheap goods from Asia keeping inflation down but as you said, the economy is artificial, benefits the very few on top and inflation just keeps on pressing on.

In the good old Founding Father Days, you make a living in the fields and the sweatshops. Families started early by getting 14 year olds impregnated. More children means more money in such an economy. Now? You need to spend a lot of money preparing your child to earn money in this fake economy. It is just not worth it.

that is somewhat of a misconception. Because the child mortality rate was so high during those days it made it appear as if the life expectancy was 40, when in reality people regularly lived to 100 (although it was much more rare than today). I know specifically with Japan that because they had such a stable ecology they evolved to age very slowly and hit puberty much later than most other peoples. How could this be the case when the life expectancy in medieval Japan was ~40? It's because the only people who lived to have children were those who made it pass childhood and live a longer life into their 60s or 70s.

This is also to say that the stereotype that people had children at the age of 14 is mostly false. But it is not false to say that it was more common than today.

And about the economy: it's true that children don't pay for themselves anymore, but we must realize that if we artificially made the cost of labour higher wages would rise so that people could pay for their kids. I've heard the argument that we don't really need to raise the wages we just need to tax the rich and give social services, but I don't know if you believe that so I won't address it

You cannot go back to the early-mid 2010s. The same people who cared about lolcows as teenagers and 20-somethings now care about politics. People grow-up. The 2020s will be a decade of politics, not lolcows. This happened on the left as well which is why so many become SJWs.
