Time to pay the Corona-chan tax, comrades.

Argentina has passed a new tax on its wealthiest people to pay for medical supplies and relief measures amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Senators passed the one-off levy - dubbed the "millionaire's tax" - by 42 votes to 26 on Friday.

Those with assets worth more than 200 million pesos ($2.5m; £1.8m) - some 12,000 people - will have to pay.

Argentina has recorded close to 1.5 million infections and almost 40,000 deaths from the coronavirus.

It has been hit hard by the pandemic, becoming the fifth country worldwide to report one million confirmed cases in October despite only having a population of about 45 million people - making it the smallest nation at the time to surpass that figure.

Lockdown measures have further dented an economy struggling with unemployment, high poverty levels and massive government debt. Argentina has been in recession since 2018.

One of the law's authors said it would only affect about 0.8% of taxpayers. Those affected will pay a progressive rate of up to 3.5% on wealth in Argentina and up to 5.25% on that outside the country.

AFP news agency reports that of the money raised, 20% will go to medical supplies, 20% to relief for small and medium-sized businesses, 20% to scholarships for students, 15% to social developments, and the remaining 25% to natural gas ventures.

Centre-left President Alberto Fernandez's government hopes to raise 300 billion pesos.

But opposition groups fear it will discourage foreign investors, and that it will not be a one-time tax.

Centre-right party Juntos por el Cambio reportedly described it as "confiscatory".

HAPPY 2k FUCKERS!!

Almost a year later, over a million and a half coofed, a world on lockdown, and on the mist of every Mom and Pop shop in the vastness of Earth ready to get George Foreman curb stomped into bankruptcy because some Karen's gram gram apparently couldn't breathe. Heres to another 2k of coofs, cheers!🍻

Get ready for more feels from my end.

A family friend informed us her 97-year-old mother has pneumonia. She lives at nursing home in Fairfax, VA while the family friend is in Pittsburgh, PA close to her daughter, son-in-law, and 15-month-old grandson. She wants to say goodbye but is concerned about getting the coof and spreading it even though the nursing home is only allowing one hour visits. So in all likelihood she won't be heading to Virginia. The daughter is a physicians assistant but I think she too is swept up in this fearmongering.

How do medical experts like St. Fauci of D.C. go to asleep knowing the damage they did was greater than this virus?

As far as Covid causing blood clotting and lasting damage, I have only personal experience to go on.

When I had it, my blood pressure skyrocketed. Darkness was creeping around my field of vision. It was scary.
Even though I've never had abnormal heart things I started taking half an aspirin a day, just in case. (I have a family history of heart disease and have had varicose veins since I was in my early 20s.)
Now, even though I've been without any Covid symptoms since late October, I will start feeling my pulse pounding in the back of my eyes at random, though not as bad as when I was sickest. If I try going a day without my support stockings (yeah I know, old and lame) my lower legs start feeling like someone's been putting cigarettes out on them.
Are these things residual Covid damage, or just me getting old and decrepit? I don't know and I'm not sure I would trust a doctor to know either.

Be careful, but don't let the bastards get you down. There are a few people in my IRL social circle that I thought for sure would be goners if they caught this thing, and they did and came through it okay.

Right, like putting a large tax on the rich won't cause them to leave and take their money with them. Fucking idiots.
China, a country with a population over one billion, being the origin of Corona, much of its citizens having lackluster hygiene (seriously, look at some of the shit they eat at those markets), and being one of the most polluted nations on Earth. All led by a communist party that's been known to downplay and lie about anything that could make the country look bad.

Imagine being so naïve that you take those numbers at face value instead of being suspicious of the circumstances.
