Given the number of highly-publicized violent incidents in response to people being told to wear masks in retail establishments and such, setting loose a bunch of stir-crazy Karens on the streets to lecture anyone out running without a mask seems like a very poorly thought-out plan. Also the article doesn't say if they have any powers to ticket people or refer people for ticketing or any such thing, so what happens when they tell someone to wear a mask and that person just says no?

And tbh anyone trying to talk to me while I'm running had better be faster than me, and I have the sneaking suspicion that anyone who volunteers to be an outdoor maskscold is not going to be in peak physical fitness.

The qualifiers for a position as Mask Enforcer will absolutely be overweight 30-60 years old with danger hair(blue preferred-green or pink ok). I can see them now getting all worked up and sweaty over it in hi-viz vests with clipboards and walkie-talkie sales are going to go up. POC, too. That is pens of colour.

Someone insufferable will probably get punched alot , or shot within 24hrs.

That's for the urban version. Out in the 'burbs, the qualifiers for Mask Enforcers will be leathery, underweight orthorexics and/or exercise addicts, aged 45-60, whose kids have grown and flown the coop, and whose husbands are only still there because a divorce is too expensive. They need something to do since the gyms, salons, Lululemon stores, and wine bars are closed, and they have the ability to sprint across a Costco parking lot and still have enough breath to loudly harangue offenders.

It's easy to espouse the "virtues" of the lockdowns when you're not in danger of losing your income or life's work.

And to no one's surprise, the asshole didn't even bother responding to the blatant hypocrisy going on outside her bar.

The more these bastards keep putting pressure on their constituent's throats, the more likely we'll see revolts in the future.

The (local) disgusting trend of people only covering their mouths with their muzzles - and letting their noses grossly hang out - seems to be going away. I guess the scummy media and "influencers" are bludgeoning people over the head with fearmongering to get them to cover up completely?

(I hate how this tyrannical insanity has made face covering normal for all who aren't Muslim women.)

On a post of yet another local sheriff refusing to enforce lockdowns there was an FB Karen with a STOLEN LAND pfp making bitchy passive aggressive posts about the police not 'protecting us' and then unironically suggesting people should start boycotting 'super spreader businesses'. Special needs students are especially vulnerable. Depending on the nature of their challenges, they often need the stability and structure of schooling at a given time of the day for the entire school year.

Any sort of disruption can be devastating to these students. A few years back, I interacted with a special education teacher whose district had to cancel classes that day after the teacher's union called for a mass sick-out. As much as he understood the reason for the sickout and agreed that issue in question needed to be resolved ASAP, he was pissed off because his students would be unable to handle the disruption to their routine that day and it would be a significant setback for them once they returned to the classroom again.

Multiply that by tens or even hundreds of days for all the school days that have been entirely online this year due to COVID and it becomes a huge problem for these students.
