Tl;dr - vtubers are like wwe superstars in that it's 70% themselves, 20% pandering, 10% character concept. Risu is only partially right.

She's probably right that most of them are giving it their all and their lives probably now revolve around streaming. That actually jives with the pro wrestling comparison because those guys are also giving it their all and training, performing, and filling their role. Like, you look at Hulk Hogan and you know that he probably doesn't get called Hulk at home, that's just a character, but you do know he's busting his ass and his pride and behavior and all that are really part of who he is. Maybe some others are more conceptual (Dustin Rhodes is a far cry from Goldust) but the person playing it is putting much of themselves into it.

At the same time, Risu is telling us that she's giving her "true self" while streaming as a squirrel doing a high voice and avoiding all personally identifying information because it would break her character and end with her suspension if that stuff (i.e., her actual self) ever became widely known. That's much less like pro wrestling; virtually every character has a real name and personal/professional history associated with them. It's why someone like Chris Jericho can be some blustering aging newbie on AEW but everyone knows he's fucking Chris Jericho and has been everywhere and done everything for decades, meanwhile someone like Botan, who has been doing FPS streams for a Jericho-esque length of time, is a 5th gen kouhai.

Rate me autistic if you like, it's just fun to think bout this sort of stuff.

So opinions now that id gen 2 is done debuting? I was expecting the peacock thing to be the good one but I ended up not liking her voice at all. Sword is meh and zombie girl is way too genki but ends up being the most palatable. I hope they evolve a lot cause otherwise this might be a flop gen.

Zombie girl is currently totally unwatchable, but then again, I thought the same thing about Polka during her debut and now she's wonderful. Haven't watched much of the other two, just highlights from Peacock and I think they should AZKi-hole her if her singing is passable; she seems like a normie and I don't love rude/bossy characters. Overall, sorta weak but my hopes are high.

Whichever one of you chucklefucks this is, please stop playing Anonymous on twitter. Please. I'm getting secondhand embarrassment for you and I don't like it.

Anyway, I just don't understand how Calli keeps doxxing herself. I get it, she's stressed, keeping in character for hours on end is difficult, but I can't think of a single time I've accidentally said my own name ever. It's weird and goofy, yet somehow endearing. Get it together, Karen.
This is the exact type of person who ruins sites.

Casual reminder that Akai Haato was a tsundere at debut and Usada Pekora a shy princess. Now look at them.

Is a long standing fact that before 4th gen almost all of them started in a some kind of seiso point only to say fuck it and devolve in the gremlins we have today, is from there than the "dream of yagoo meme is dying" comes from
You know, looking back, I feel like it was only at Gen 5 where we started to see Cover just letting people start out as Gremlins, with Polka, which continued with Amelia, and now Ollie.

In other news, looks like Lamy got her drink on during the Gen 5 Disney vacation.

Two beers with a side of fries just to get started on the little trip.

I want to see Lamy and Mori argue about Wine vs. Sake, is that weird?

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this.
A Mexican (I think) vtuber with a 'trap' gimmick and who sounds like Eric Cartman.
Its just very strange when you step back, and look at it for what it is.
This is the main reason i don't want HoloES to happen, if you think a american would blow their spaguetti on stream, any Latin american or Spaniard WILL do it on day 2 if possible, the entire scene is a fucking cesspool of drama queens and bitches and i really refuse to recommend or even humour the mere thought of someone entering that scene, you think vshoujo is bad? you have see nothing

I passed 2 hours listening to her sperging about optimal temperatures for serving sake, if she is not a pro on getting wasted she has some kind of barman training, Calli i see as the person that goes to a licor store pick the first thing that is strong and cheap enough and get wasted alone in her couch while watching netflix

You know how sometimes there are streams where the girls teach each other shit like katakana or English phrases? How about Lamy and Aki teach Calli how to get properly blasted in Japanese.

Hispanics shouldn't be allowed to exist, much less become vtubers

Speaking seriously though hearing a vtuber talking in your native language feels pretty damn weird, how do you guys do this

I'd be more concerned about HoloBR, the number of brazillians that flock to smaller vtubers and spend the entire time trying to get the tuber either say their name, or some random portuguese phrase is staggering.

Most VTubers don't sound like Eric Cartman / Toad from Mario Party pretending to be a girl. Even JP trap tubers tend to have a female seiyuu.

It's true. I enjoy watching vtubers reacting to their debuts. The change is always eye-opening, it is why I wouldn't put too much stock into people's debuts. For example I heard Korone's first stream was a gigantic mess with tons of technical issues and she has to get Okayu and Fubuki to step in to help. And the debut had to turn into an impromptu collab cus she was fucking everything up. But guess who got to 1 million first?

HoloBR will technically never happen, there is no huge market for a language that is mostly talked in shitholes and Portugal will not carry a entire brand, spanish you could dance it because almost all latin america (and spain) speak it but it will be spotty in terms of revenue, for context the max superchat that you can do in argentina is merely 19 bucks
