Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Im not epileptic but this is annoying. Hope they fix it.

The chick from the very first teaser trailer.

Did she make it into the final game? How many dicks does she have and were her blade arms replaced with dildos?
I have wondered whether at the time that trailer came out they were imagining a much more focused and constrained game with more of a tight thriller plotline. I mean, what they're showing there - a chick who's gone nuts due to augmentation being taken away by the Psycho Squad, then her apparently becoming a member of that squad - seems like a setup for a set protagonist rather than one who's closer to a blank slate. Tbh I probably would've preferred that, as I'm more interested in playing someone within these dystopian power structures (albeit probably going rogue) than another GTA-type protagonist.

Also I can't discuss that trailer without using an excuse to post a picture of the model they used. Fucking UNF:

This is what the women and the "women" CDPR hired took from us.

I guess PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY was too violent and upsetting.
God the original Cyberpunk reveal trailer was so fucking based. Just look at the original design concept compared to what we have.

Trailer starts with slow-mo shots of a crime scene. Blood and guts everywhere, bullets flying through the air, and an otherworldly beautiful woman sitting in a pile of blood. Shots slowly begin to show more, revealing the woman is a Cyberpsycho who has augmented herself to all fucking hell and has murdered all these people. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY intensifies in the background by this point, cementing that her poor impulse control has lead to her current situation, and now a dozen people or more are dead and she is being shot at by cops.

And now we've got... This. God fucking damn it. Why can't we have nice things bros?!

I'm still a bit miffed.
All endings except one fuck you over, and its not even a path to successfully fight off Johnny and V celebrating, its just V... leaving.
Why did nobody think of that one, is that what V wants anyway? Why is a little self-contained victory not even thought about for motivation or an ending, but it has to be about the whole city fucking V over for some reason?

I actually like that from a theme perspective. The world of Cyberpunk is just diseased—rotted to the core. You can't fight the system because the system has become so entrenched nothing can be done to fix it. All the cool cats who fought are dead, or have turned out like Silverhand. You're left with three options; become another victim of the world, sacrifice yourself to burn it all down, or save yourself and leave this sick and demented world behind.

Reminds me of what Pondsmith said about the game a few years back. It's not about saving the world, it's about saving yourself. The original trailer for the game seemed to focus heavily on the idea of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and the idea that if your life is terrible it's ultimately your fault and the fault of your decisions. While a lot of that seems to be gone in this, "Haha. It's GTA 5 but the future with girls with dicks!" You can still see a little bit of it in the main story, and some of the side-quests; especially the ones that punish the player for making poor decisions.

I dunno. I feel like this game was very different before they decided to release for current/next gen. Back when it was supposed to be released in 2017-ish the design concepts seemed more polished and the idea for the game was just so fucking unique. It sounded a lot like it was trying to recreate what Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines did, but for a next gen game that was actually fun to play. As in, literally trying to make a true to form TTRPG inspired video game complete with stats and classes from the game. Part of the reason VTMB is so loved is because of the freedom it gives you with your character in the game, and the narrative that carries it. It felt like, back then, that Cyberpunk was trying to be that but with a really solid gameplay loop to make the game enjoyable to play.

Now, we've got Farcry 7: Night City.

Maybe suicide-by-nuke isn't such a bad ending after all. You get to take yourself out for being a meatsuit for some dead guy in your head, who also can't seem to bag any of the hot, non-bitchy women whilst also wiping the physical, mental and social dregs that you constantly find yourself surrounded with off the face of the Earth.

Basedpunk2077.
That'll be the ending I'm going with. Running away like a pussy is for cucks. Destroy the world and create it anew. Taking all the assholes with you is a plus.
I'm enjoying the implication that if you play as fem V you're out there scissoring the hell out of hookers and Johnny Silverhand is just sitting back in your head going "oh yea! shake it baby! capital knockers!"
Better yet, genitals aren't tied to sex so just play a dick girl and hit up all the Lesbians. "Yeah. Haha. I'm totally a lesbian. Don't mind the floppy penis baby."

I feel like how the game is now is the result of bad management decisions. CD Projekt Red’s management wanted to crunch the game to come out in 2017, but their dev team wasn’t willing to put up with it so the game was put in limbo until new employees could be hired. Not enough assets or even a setting could be referenced so the new dev team had to wing it with... what you see now. So they get a prototype up and running and... they see Death Stranding using star power as their selling point. Stop what they’re doing and bring in Keanu Reeves because John Wick is fucking huge at the time. So then they had to redesign the game again around totally not John Wick causing the delays. I garuntee this game had to be remade from scratch at least three times because of those decisions I described above.

I feel like this game went way over the line with ego and aggressive marketing because CD Projekt Red is riding high off of Witcher 3’s success and while I personally might and will have fun with it, I still have to admit this game has had poor upper management decisions from top to bottom. There was no reason to put Keanu Reeves in the game as a face scan and actor other than celebrity cameos are what sells these days. There was no reason to have all this aggressive marketing because just off the teaser alone I was sold.

And I’m sure there’s other plenty of baffling management choices they’ve made in the past that I’m spacing out on, but it’s blatantly obvious with this game and it’s inconsistent art design from the teaser to the final product.

TL;DR CD Projekt Red’s upper management is inept and out of touch and Cyberpunk 2077 is the result of that.

Also I think this game seems to make the error of letting its celebrity overshadow the player. BIG mistake.
Game really should have been about Johnny Silverhand taking revenge on Arasaka at this point. Main character and everything. You already took away the class abilities you promised years ago, so just streamline it. Let Johnny play like a Solo/Rockerboy mix. Hell, you can even keep the character creator in the game. Use the same excuse that Johnny is hitching a ride in someone else's body, but forego the voiced protagonist all together.

We know it was remade from scratch at least once. There was a 33% completed early last gen game (meaning Xbox 360/Xbox One and Ps3/Ps4 release) that got completely fucking scrapped when the team was all like, "Oh shit. This isn't going to be out in time for current gen consoles! FUCK WE GOT TO BUILD EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH FOR NEXT GEN AHASHAHGAGAYSHSHFU!"

Is the entire game just Keanu Reeves cucking you?
Pretty much, but the game goes out of its way to tell that the chip is doing it, not Johnny. So even if Johnny didn't want your body, the chip is going to force him to take over. But at certain points of the game, Johnny will take control our of his free will. You'll know since the hud goes from red to green.

You know what's kinda ironic? This game is a dystopian horror future, but I bet no character in this whole game says the n-word once or does anything else that could be seen as truly offensive. Of course I could be proven wrong, but I really doubt it. A company that fires employees over a joke on Twitter has no backbone to do anything truly edgy. Instead they make it super PC and compensate the PC-ness with ugly clothes, dirt maps and tattoos to give the pretense of grittiness without actually being gritty.
In all fairness. The V rape scene is pretty fucking edgy if it's true.
The febreeze in the background really sells it. You know that room constantly smells like shit.

Reactions: Brain Problems
These story beats are beginning to sound like Guild Wars 2, a game that had you play errand boy for a group of someone else's OC. For this mission we're getting a cool sword. What? No you don't get to keep it, it's for this plant guy. Not gonna get into the other problems that game had but I hate that shit, even if you don't get to pretend to be your own character. Final Fantasy X is not Tidus' story, it's Yuna's or could arguably be Auron's which would be way better.

oh no 10 hours of a 200 hour game focus around a major npc the game is ruined forever unlike fallout new vegas (which was totally flawless and perfect guys why can't every game be like fallout new vegas which would never have celebrity self insert companions into major factions like the brotherhood of steel because it is just thag good)

Either this is a troll or you have shit taste.

In F:NV, I can murder every single faction in the game and still win. If I don't like an NPC? I kill them. If I hate all the bullshit going on in the Desert, I murder everyone and just leave it in chaos. I don't want to be a bitch boy for a shitty OC, thanks. Sort of defeats the fucking purpose.

Honestly, it feels so much better than what we got. So much wasted potential. Also the development of this game reeked of too many cooks in the kitchen.
I think you summed up my biggest complaints pretty well. No patch or mod will fix the fact that it feels like Pondsmith is just using this game to jack off his OC and your face is supposed to provide the facial. I don't give a singular shit about Johnny. I want nothing to do with Johnny. Why would I play an open-world RPG just to be the supporting cast to a character that I can't tolerate before the game is even in my hands?

Why is it that DA: O, a game from 2009, is still one of the better RPGs that I've ever played? I don't need the world to revolve around my character, mind, but it leaves a sour taste to watch it revolve around another character. If the entire game is just escorting Johnny to him mindbreaking you and nuking Night City to prove some autistic "nobody's the good guy" point, I'm gonna ask my friend if he can refund the game.
I mean, yeah, you're not out to change the world or save it, but all of the endings are over the top grimdark trash except for one. There's no 'The Shield' ending where you fuck over everyone who liked you for your own selfish reasons. That's cyberpunk. Having 2 endings where you become a meat-puppet is lazy as fuck.

Honestly, the game fell in love with Keanu way too fucking much. I don't want to pal around with an OC Marty Sue who is what he feels like. Fuck, just make us BE a meat puppet for him if that's what you want. At leas then the story centers around the character I'm playing. I mean, that's what they're basically doing anyway to get around the 'well, we want YOU to be the character'. Looks like that was a fucking lie.

In all seriousness, it reads like a shitty GM running a campaign forcing you to deal with his TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME OC. And you can't kill the OC because its in your brain and any ending to get rid of him is a bad one. You can't fuck him over without fucking yourself over.

Where's the ending where I isolate this asshole in a chip and sell him to be a slave for a corporation to retire off of? Where's the ending where I isolate him and crush the chip under my boot? Where's the ending where I secure him a body, shake his hand, then execute him by blowing his fucking head off? They're not there because the GM doesn't want you to hurt or ruin his precious character. All of those are perfectly Cyberpunk endings. The endings right now are because the game is fucking masturbating this OC and after the Keanu moment they had to shoe-horn him into the fucking plot.

I remember they didn't want you to play a cop because it would be 'too constraining'. So instead they force you to be a meat puppet for Keanu Reeves? Seriously, get fucked. I'd rather a campaign with that chick from the trailer who is an absolute sociopath who gets recruited to the psycho squad. You're this person losing their sanity and unsure of what is real or not, ala 'A Scanner Darkly'. That's an interesting idea. Not this terrible shit "Oh yeah, you've got the ghost of a rock and roller inside your head and you are generic criminal person". WOW SO INTRIGUING. I literally don't give a shit about any of that. Grand Theft Cyberpunk.

Congrats CD Projekt, you made it. You're AAA trash now.

Running away like a pussy is for cucks.

> Implying the entire plot revolving around Keanu taking over your body isn't the ultimate cuck in of itself.

But yeah, I'm with you on this one. It seems like the one decision you can choose in the game that you make of your own agency that ultimately ends up with you keeping (and dying) with your identity intact. I guess if you go the pussy route and take off it's open to interpretation as to whether or not the chip was eventually removed unless there's an epilogue or some shit.

My question now is - if the game is successful and with the endings already spoiled - how the hell are they gonna implement DLC into the story? With any major AAA game nowadays it's a given due to those sweet, sweet shekels and if your character dies in the end and you can't continue the game what other choice do we have besides starting a new one? How are they gonna sell DLC when we all know full well our character's fate so what's the point in even buying/pirating/playing it?

DLC will probably take place in pre-2077 Night City set around the Cyberpunk Red timeline. That's how I'd do it.
