Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Why are we giving it to octogenarians and nonagenarians?

They are the perfect lab ra- I mean, test subject.

They are very old so they dont have much time to live anyway. If they die, it was either covid or age, if they dont, its obviously thanks to the vaccines.

Low risk high reward for them.

Even though I want nothing to do with the vaccine as an otherwise healthy young person. Ive recommended my grandparents and such get it. At their age covid has an appreciable chance of killing them so its worth the unknown probably slight long term risk.

Plus it will make the onus of their safety on them again instead of everyone else like its been the last 9 months.

Sorry, the one they are releasing in the UK and the one they want to in the US.
The Oxford one is the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein jammed onto a chimp adenovirus. The ones in the US are both mRNA.

The Chinese and Russian ones are attenuated.

e: ah shit, the vaccine rollout isn't going great. Already had two cases of anaphylaxis.

oh right one sec, that's not all of it.

Four trial volunteers who got Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine developed Bell's palsy
Take it with a grain of salt however.

The observed frequency of reported Bell’s palsy in the vaccine group is consistent with the expected background rate in the general population, and there is no clear basis upon which to conclude a causal relationship at this time, but FDA will recommend surveillance for cases of Bell’s palsy with deployment of the vaccine into larger populations.
I don't know the samepl size for the study but I do know the "background rate in the general population" for bell's palsy is like 0.023 percent.

I tried to research what precisely is in them
The excipients weren't listed in the provider packet I got, which is pretty weird. I had to hunt them down.

Pfizer said:
ALC-0315 = (4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate)
ALC-0159 = 2[(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide
1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine
cholesterol
potassium chloride
potassium dihydrogen phosphate
sodium chloride
disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate
sucrose

Moderna said:
The mRNA-1273 IP is an LNP dispersion of an mRNA encoding the prefusion stabilized S protein of SARS-CoV-2 formulated in LNPs composed of 4 lipids (1 proprietary and 3 commercially available): the proprietary ionizable lipid SM-102; cholesterol; 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3 phosphocholine (DSPC); and 1monomethoxypolyethyleneglycol-2,3-dimyristylglycerol with polyethylene glycol of average molecular weight 2000 (PEG2000-DMG). The mRNA-1273 is provided as a sterile liquid for injection and is a white to off-white dispersion in appearance, at a concentration of 0.2 mg/mL in 20 mM Tris buffer containing 87mg/mL sucrose and 10.7 mM sodium acetate at pH 7.5.

They looks similar, not sure what's causing anaphylaxis there. Also apparently the Moderna study's placebo was just NS instead of the excipients, which is also rather strange.

It can fuck things up though. I had to quit work from it, I got it while pregnant and my job required good levels of manual dexterity which can't happen if one side has a total loss of muscle tone. I was well enough to work in five months but the break in my work meant I took an unrelated filler job and it took me a year to get back into my original field.

But you know fuck me and my career, gotta keep the oldiewonks and the fat cunts safe from a nothing of a virus that was no big deal to me, right, and fuck anyone who thinks that.

Fatties and old cunts are the reason the economy is being crippled and your kids are being psychologically fucked beyond repair.

While I intend to get the vaccine when available, I am greatly concerned at how hard the media is pushing "where are your papers" angle. Multiple talking heads, both in media and government, are lobbying that people shouldn't be able to shop, work, or even leave home without having a vaccination card.

That shit is IMO really concerning. It'll be really hard if not impossible to ever roll that back. Also very, very easy to pervert to something really nasty.

I and I alone decide who gets to know my medical history.

More whining from the state of Insanity (California). Dude doesn't realize nobody cares. Not affecting much that I can see. They can just fucking eat me, and no, I have no plans to get any fucking vaccine. I don't even want to be tested, upsets me greatly to know my test, however it comes out, will be used to keep people out of work and keep people fucked over. Have asked God to forgive me for my however unwilling complicity in this sin.

I do have a question for the group here. Early on, I predicted shortages of Chinese-made products, specifically electronic items. However, never saw that shortage materialize. Am guessing we had huge stocks of these products in warehouses here and in other places, and the Chinese put reopening the associated factories as a top priority. Did anyone see such shortages? Just wondering.

Electronic shortages did happen. Especially in certain general part sectors. Without powerleveling, I know major parts used in tv's and video players were hit especially hard.

The reason why it isn't as noticeable is that demand dropped sharply when the markets and shutdowns started happening. This allowed stock levels to recover for a bit since no one was buying.

Edit: And before anyone comes in saying "But video games and graphics cards...", Sony, MS, and Nividia all sourced the raw components for their stuff pre-pandemic and had a considerable stockpile. They were able to weather the ripple effect port shutdowns had on the general market.

We had crazy medication shortages at the start (like around March or April.) Fuckin' China not giving us our ketamine.

Gatekeeping basic societal necessities like food, gainful employment, banking, travel and other things by requiring proof of a dubious vaccination is already "really nasty." People who have spent the last few years whining about Trump's fairly benign bumbling governance being "fascist" are going to learn what it's like to live under actual totalitarian oppression if this shit is rolled out. The fact that it will likely be the private sector imposing these requirements, rather than governments, should make absolutely no difference to anyone with more than two brain cells. This will ultimately be enforced and legitimized by the courts under the guise of freedom to contract, right to control access to private property and so on. Don't like it? Better start grappling with the idea of being locked out of mundane aspects of polite society that you've been taking for granted your entire life. Why wouldn't you want to SAVE LIVES you monster?

I've never had to seriously consider how far I'm willing to go to defend my own autonomy, but this COVID vaccination has now forced me to confront that question directly. This is easily the most disturbing potential development for personal liberties that anyone alive has seen, at least in the United States. I really can't adequately express how deeply I despise everyone who is behind all of this, and everyone who foolishly cheerleads it all. These people are both stupid and evil in tremendous measure and deserve contempt.

That is literally just the symptoms I had when I had corona.

I could not regulate my body tempature at all and shivered like crazy when not under the covers.

I had the same issue when I got H1N1, 105 degree fever and shivering all over the place. I tend to get pretty high fevers when sick and never had seizures or anything like that from it luckily but it felt like having a super hangover while still slightly drunk. Ear or kidney infections that start to go septic, same deal, but antibiotics provide relief fairly fast if you're lucky. I know people get mad when covid is dismissed as "just a flu bro" but I think that's because people don't realize how utterly miserable actual influenza can be, or they think they've had it when they haven't. Flu vaccines are a powerful weapon to keep it in check but I absolutely believe it can kill old people, cause pneumonia, or badly harm pregnant women every bit as easily as covid can, yet no one gives a shit. Doc checked vitals, said to have some tylenol and orange juice, sleep it off and quit being a pussy (they were nice about it, I'm paraphrasing, but when you're in your 20s, non-smoker and pretty healthy you're as close to invincible as you can get). Oh and we have Tamiflu I guess but I rarely see doctors prescribe that unless someone's old as fuck or has terminal cancer or something. Apparently it was given to kids and made them delirious? We tried it on covid I think but it must not have worked.

Oh yeah and it helped that I was able to quietly take a couple days off and didn't get branded with a coof Star of David and sent to a leper colony, suspended for 14 days and not allowed back until I showed papers, get outed as a coofer in the newspaper, have everyone I talked to in the previous month harassed by the cheka, or get my work shut down. It was just "nah we don't need a medical note, you have good attendance and you do kinda look like shit. Call when you feel better." Now who would ever want to admit they coofed? I fucking sure wouldn't.

I could be fucking dreaming but I remember there being a shortage of high end graphics processors because people were using them to mine bitcoins. Not sure if that had anything to do with coof though. I noticed a delay in cheap Chinese crap I ordered off ebay early this year and mild rationing of important stuff but everyone had plenty to get by, it was more to keep hoarding, panic buying and price gouging in check. I think it was difficult to get a Nintendo for a while. Locking everything down to essentials only here for a while and the Corrupt Chinese Pricks throwing the undesirables into plague hospitals and ordering everyone else back to work kept the supply chain surprisingly stable. I think electronics were made a priority because it was obvious people would only stay home if they had TV, internet and vidya to stay occupied and computers good enough to work from home once offices and schools made the transition. I was shit out of luck on craft supplies but big fucking deal.

We had plenty, though they were stingy with them just in case so that probably helped. Pharma workers were drafted into crazy overtime to produce assloads of antibiotics and the drugs needed to keep people sedated in the ICU and I believe we pulled from pandemic planning stockpiles but we didn't really end up needing them. Elective procedures being shitcanned probably reduced demand as well but that's going to bite us in the ass at some point.

Pardon me if this is retarded because university was a long time ago and this stuff didn't exist then, but if the mRNA is supposedly stripped of the parts that could create proteins that trigger a severe immune response, but whatever the fuck is in the proprietary stuff is supposed to make it amplify itself in your cells, material from your own cells could potentially mess that up and produce mRNAs whose products gain back the function, thus triggering anaphylaxis or an anyphylactoid reaction? Like if the person was previously exposed to coof or something coof adjacent and didn't know? Considering the vaxxes all require two doses I hope this isn't possible, or it's just a plain allergy to another ingredient that has nothing to do with the mRNA. Kindly correct me if I'm being a dumbass.

The sample size was 43,252, so an expected number would be about 10, or 5 if you only look at the vaccine group and not the placebo. The article doesn't say if these were exclusively within the vaccine group or in both groups, so I wouldn't worry about getting Bell's palsy with the vaccine.

I believe- though could be wrong, I'd love to hear from anyone more e experienced than I- the reason it causes a anaphylactic reaction is because the jag is designed to provoke an immune response. That's what a anaphylactic reaction is at it's most basic level. For the people made sick, this is what it's done. sent their immune system totally spastic and its caused an anaphylactic reaction.

One more reason to add to the list for people wanting a pass. I would suggest anyone who gets hayfever or any kind of allergies, especially to meds or vaccines speak to their doctors now, get in and do so and get it noted on your file now.

Likewise any family history of lupus, RA, type one diabetes- all these are immune system disorders. Any type of epilepsy (the six in one vaccine causes fits and convulsions in people with epilepsy in their families) and any women of childbearing age. If you are on BC and can change provider for it, then tell your regular doctor you are TTC, or say you would be open to keeping a whoospie baby all the better.

My point is, get in there and get it done because you an always change your mind later, but its best to get the paper trail covering your arse sooner not later.

I'm not telling people at work to lie their fucking asses off, that would be unethical, but I am sure as hell finding an awful lot of plausible deniability everywhere and documenting it thoroughly in very technical sounding language should anyone ever need to reference it again for any reason. Just being thorough, the government takes public health very seriously, as does my institution, and it's best practice to document everything if you are ever unsure. I also have misgivings about revealing peoples' private health information to anyone, including government agencies, because violating PHIPA means your career and if you ever have a shadow of a doubt, it is wiser to err on the side of keeping your mouth shut. If you really need disclosure you can get a fucking warrant.

Or, providing you're not abusing a kid because of it, you can just claim a religious exemption to nearly anything because you practice Zoroastrianism, no one knows what the fuck that is.

Also on a completely unrelated note: It is perfectly legal to be batshit insane, provided you're not immediately dangerous, and people usually go out of their way to avoid dealing with crazy people. There is no objective medical test to quantify beliefs, either. If you say something that sounds retarded but don't otherwise seem retarded, crazy is usually the default assumption.

We had crazy medication shortages at the start (like around March or April.) Fuckin' China not giving us our ketamine.
There has been an ongoing shortage of prednisolone (and a couple of other corticosteroids) since September, as hospitals started stockpiling them to treat potential second-wave Covid cases. It's not made in coofin' China, but it might as well be at this point.

A 90-day supply of 5mg tablets for my cat used to be $8; it's always been one of the cheapest and most basic drugs around. Now I have to pay $45 to get the same amount in a liquid suspension from a compounding pharmacy.

The woman who handles pharmacy requests at my vet's office now has actual nightmares about not being able to get this drug because so many animals in the practice are on it, and affording the compounded version is hard for a lot of their owners. It's just crazy. I keep checking with my regular pharmacy each week, and it's still on backorder.

So there's that.

It is a massive HIPAA violation waiting to happen, but I think there's another purpose.

SALUBRIOUS'S BASELESS CONSPIRACY THEORY TIME!

It will take months and months to distribute the virus to 340M Americans. So because this process will take so long, they are moving the goalposts in order to keep their power grabbing restrictions in place.

"We need to keep locking people down until EVERYONE gets the vaccine to keep you safe!"

Why would they wait 24 hours to give the warning that anyone with severe allergies shouldn't get it? Surely they would have known that people can have allergic reactions to things (duh) ahead of time, so did they just not give a shit who they were giving it to? I would have thought precautions like that would be standard procedure, they usually ask about allergies and things for normal flu shots. Sounds like more of a cock up with the distribution than the testing, honestly. They're also reporting that the vaccine should only be given where facilities for resuscitation are available which makes sense but is a bit ominous. Guess that sinks the idea of doling it out in every GP's office and pharmacy.

I'm in one of the groups that was specifically excluded from the trials so in theory I shouldn't be expected to get the vaccine until more is known about it, which is the main thing I was worried about in the first place.
