I think Lucs isn't allowed to have over 2000$ so there's not much he can do but spend most of his money anyway. I know he was talking about building his little nest egg but he can't really do that.
In addition to the asset limit, he also can't earn any additional money beyond about $1200/month, which is likely why he was looking for a job around $1k/month, so he could, in theory, max out what he could earn at this fantasy job and not lose his SSDI payouts.
Either that or he was aiming to make roughly what he gets from SSDI.
If his Patreon had inexplicably taken off he'd have been booted off of SSDI with just one person pledging to one of his stupidly high tiers.
But, yeah, he can't build his nest egg or save up for jack shit if he doesn't want to lose his SSDI, and if he loses his SSDI he's
really fucked. He'd have to reapply and getting approved in 2020 is a shitload harder than it was when he got rubber stamped into the system back around 2000.
Honestly, it'd be kind of entertaining watching him try to figure out how to reapply for SSDI without a lawyer and on his phone. While it's very possible to get approved for SSDI without a lawyer, the people who do often spend half their waking hours researching how to do it effectively and rack up a fuckton of medical and specialist appointments in the process because, lawyer or no, you have to contend with government doctors who look at your doctor's stuff and go, "...but are you
really disabled tho?" or who just straight up ignore the parts of your documentation that help your case.
While it's a shitty, stressful system for people who are
actually disabled, seeing it work against a leech like Lucas would be peak entertaining even just imagining him trying to represent himself in a disability court hearing.
