Does anyone know if Maricopa county still has that third-world tent city jail? I'm not sure if it went away when Arpaio left or not.

He was picked up by Scottsdale PD so would have gone into their jail, not the county jail, which the sheriff is in charge of.
It was pretty shit for that asshole to act like he was entitled to punish people. Most people in there hadn't even been convicted of anything yet. The point of pretrial detention is to make sure people show up, not to provide a pool of victims for some sadistic cocksucker.
A punch (at least by someone who is not a complete pussy like Baked) is actually a lot more likely to lead to some kind of permanent injury. People have needed facial reconstructive surgery after a single punch. Pepper spray is less likely to lead to serious injury. Still, it's classified as a felony some places (like Virginia with Chris-Chan) just because it's the use of something other than your body to attack someone. Arizona doesn't seem to be one of these places.
