Feedback Technical Grievances

The weird thing is that ProtonVPN was working just fine for me on both Firefox and Chrome and across my phone and computers until literally yesterday. I put in a support ticket to see what the resolution will be

Browsers cache ip addresses so they don't have to DNS search every time. The name resolutions expire in a few days and then it checks the DNS server again. That's probably why. Different browsers would have different refresh times too.

Their DNS is fucked up and is apparently also railing to resolve crypto mining pools. If they're actually running some kind of blacklist that is probably cause to drop them so if it doesn't fix itself shortly we should try to find out.

ETA: in fact it does look like they are running a blacklist against crypto sites. We're probably still falsely in there because of our entirely consensual use of Monero a couple years ago.

That's pretty much a dealbreaker. Anyone got another free/cheap VPN?

Well that's annoying, I use a VPN to hide my IP address in case of data leaks, not to have the web filtered like I'm a retard who clicks on every "CLICK HERE TO SPEED UP YOUR PC" virus download. I hope they walk back on that a bit and make website/DNS filtering an opt-in feature.

They've apparently said they're going to but I haven't seen it happen yet.

It seems the .net domain is working again with ProtonVPN. (the mining pools mentioned in the reddit thread in the previous page are working too.)

Can confirm. I put in a support ticket for it a couple of days ago and it was resolved fairly quickly. Works on both Brave and Firefox and on iOS and Android devices... at least on my end.

We were definitely caught in their weird jihad against crypto. And it went away as soon as that went away.

the .net domain is still not working for me, but maybe it just hasn't proliferated to my dns server.

I do have a feature request though. If you're currently on the .is domain, when you click a kiwifarms.net hyperlink, can that redirect you to the .is version please?

Are the wordfilters working only for some people? I see the phrase "pozloading my neghole" appear for some people but when Null posts what I suspect was the same thing:

Is anyone else having problems logging in?

I typed in the right password, but I had to reset it to get it to work.

after... way too long, it seems that the .net domain is working on all of proton's domain name servers again. Before it was just the North American ones.

I found a workaround for the "can only rate PMs like" issue. It's cumbersome and autistic but if you absolutely must, here's the issue. Apparently the javascript or whatever is broken so it doesn't give you the menu on mouseover. But you can do it manually. For instance, when you mouseover "like," you get a link like this (for the post above):
Just edit the url to change the number at the end to the appropriate reaction. Here are all the reactions:
2 agree
3 disagree
5 winner
6 informative
7 feels
9 optimistic
11 late
13 autistic
14 dislike
16 mad at the internet
17 dumb
22 drink
25 horrifying
26 semper fidelis
27 deviant
28 trophy (you probably can't use this)
29 tmi
30 islamic content
31 thunkful
32 lunacy

This also goes for profile posts.

It does create the reaction tooltip, it's just not shown (look in element inspector). It doesn't have hidden display set on it, and everything's fine, the only issue is that it's devoid of contents.

The reason for this seems to be that the script tag with ID xfReactTooltipTemplate is empty. It seems to cache this on page load, which is why changing it in the web inspector doesn't solve the problem.

If you look at a thread page, it will have this set to the standard reaction template. If you look at a PM/profile page, it will not.

I’m not seeing word filters at all. I miss seeing them.

Is there a workaround for being able to rate forum posts whatever we want?
