I really couldn't stand Biggons, he was an embodiment of the perils of Frog's business model in my mind. A tedious, dunderheaded, droning bore who makes Micah Curtis seem like Woody Allen - and you have to be nice to him, because he's pouring money into CG. But at what cost?

He gives you lots of money but then you have to endure him stinking out your livestream with his repellent monotone, for what feels like hours on end even if it only lasts a few minutes.

I would honestly rather listen to a sponsored product being openly shilled at me, than listen to that bloated idiot, patron Piggons, and his dull-witted drawling.

I mean even the ads on television, at least those have good looking women in them right? At least they used to, I don't watch it any more so I don't know. But I actually get nostalgic for the old-style television model, when Frog subjects me to the aural torture that is patron Piggons.

Which I agree with him is something worth celebrating. Cancel Culture being a clear and identifiable problem in mainstream comics. It features a character I like and its held my interest for 30+ issues. Eddie Brock is back in the suit and that was more than enough for me to pick it up. Bonus that it features Eddie struggling with becoming a father, a theme not typically touched on in SJW comic offerings. Is it great? No but its just enough. The art is pretty cool. Again in my subjective point of view this is much more interesting than the Chaplin book.

The great thing about crowdfunding is the market has a pretty good track record of stabilizing and the shitty books don't get funded. There are tons of great comics that are relatively obscure and even better art books that most people have never heard of. The Mouse Guard guy makes fucking bank drawing those mideval mice and he's not exactly the most famous of creators. There's a comic for everyone but finding it can be difficult. I feel like I explain this over and over and over again, and I keep getting met with the same concerns. I'll try again. Meet me where I'm coming from, understanding what I'm trying to do, and THEN ask me your questions.

--I am not interested in "replacing the mainstream." Not in the sense that I want to outdo it, and then overtake it or defeat it. If the mainstream goes away, it'll be in the natural course of business, and I'll have had nothing to do with it. I just want to still be making comics when they're gone.

--Making a traditional comic book company out of the blacklisted pros that make up ComicsGate is pointless:

*None of us agree on anything much
*All of us have different goals
*We're fairly mismatched in the types of comics we make
*Producing more comic books is less profitable than producing fewer comics in my opinion
*Comic companies are usually formed to utilize the Direct Market, which is unstable, and a thing of the past in my opinion

--The point of my version of ComicsGate isn't necessarily to create superior comics. The entire point was to create a substitute mechanism to market, fund and produce comic books. Whether or not they're "good" or "better" depends on the quality of creator who eventually finds our system advantageous to themselves, and therefore, making excellent comic books might take some time. We'll see who else wanders over.

--I, personally, don't care if ComicsGate's books are "good" or "better." I only care that MY books are good and better, and are worthy of my energy. ComicsGate doesn't exist to set me up as a gatekeeper of a movement. I work to build it so that I can make comic books. People who want to help me do so, or who are good for the mechanism that helps market, fund and produce comic books, are invited to join me on my channel, which exists to help me make MY comic books. I like helping talented creators, but it isn't my main purpose.

--I recognize that there are customers who only want to buy product from ComicsGate creators, and that a catalogue or website would be helpful to them. I am not interested in doing this, because I don't actually care if customers only buy ComicsGate created product. It honestly looks pretty bad ass. I have never heard of Matt Martin but his art is incredible. I can see why EVS is running the campaign.

Horses are notoriously a pain in the dick to draw and he pulls it off flawlessly. I was at first a bit skeptical about a comic called "Snowman" and thought it was some gay Christmas comic about Frosty or something similar.
The colorist is going to have to be good to do justice to this kind of hyper detailed inking. Lots of sweet looking guns, violence, a beastly looking ice monster. My only gripe is that the campaign is light on details as to what this comic is actually about or what time period this is supposed to be. Based on the coonskin caps and pioneer garb I'm assuming the later 1700's/early 1800's.

This looks way better than the 90's version of the comic. Clearly Matt has improved in his decades of relative obscurity.

This is definitely a top notch offering from the CG sphere.

I'm sure the funding will increase as more people are exposed to it. The book shouldn't have a problem cracking 100k in sales.

The reason to go into business together wouldn't be out of a mutual hatred of SJWs. We'd be going into business together because we don't want our business fucked with and threatened by SJWs. A creative professional's stake in comics is his livelihood.

The fact that SJWs not only gatekeep and mobilize to cancel professionals is made easier to fight because their comics are usually terrible and weird. And that is our argument to customers, i.e. "You should reconsider how you buy comics and what you buy, because these comics are obviously insulting political propaganda. Ours aren't, but they require crowdfunding and preordering."

we’ve all been around long enough to know that the first day is usually approximate to 1/3 of what the campaign will make. I think it will make over 100k. 250k is stretching it a bit for this campaign.

They're likely both being throttled too, at the start of typing this post the Overlord DVD video was over 89K, now it's magically gone down to 88.77ish - it's been 'unviewed' over 200 times, heh. And now it's back up to 88.95, isn't maths funny. On Google anyway. And now 89K again.

Throttled numbers or not, though, I think he's well on course to running over @FROG's top video of the year in under 24 hours.

It's funny that you mention Simon Cowell and those talent shows, I was just thinking the other day that this is exactly what CG is like, except the problem with CG is that nobody calls anybody else out for being shit. So it's like the ___ Idol shows but without the best part, which is the public humiliation.

I actually would describe those shows as deeper and darker than humiliation, it's about the public execution of someone's inner child, their deepest lifelong hopes and dreams.

It's much like how humans used to enjoy public executions (and indeed Saudis still do), but in modern societies we don't get to hurt the body, so we hurt their insides instead.

The big problem with CG is there's no Simon Cowell. So it leans on the hugboxy side, holding hands and shit. Not stepping on toes.

Smiller would make an excellent Simon Cowell imo. When he was critiquing Big Daddy, Nasser asked him how much would it cost to illustrate Big Daddy's script, and Smiller replied "My soul."

Ha ha, Doomcock never stopped plugging away at STAR WARS videos and has nearly twice my sub count. The fact that some of my videos are getting commensurate views as his is pretty encouraging. I've only been back at it for a month now.

That thing about hurting someone's insides since public executions are no longer a source of entertainment was pretty Zack-esque.

ComicsGate doesn't need a Simon Cowell. The big platforms do.

When Smiller was spamming Nerdrotic's livestream with links for his LONESTAR comic, and Gary HUMILIATED him in front of 5000 viewers, that was pretty close to Simon Cowell.

And I guess I've had the same thing happen with Micah Curtis and Wenger. Varying levels of HUMILIATION required for each of those guys.

And once again, "ComicsGate" is the lure. This is a new way to do business. Do others want to peel away and try it? When you put a label on what we're doing, it terrifies them. ComicsGate takes power away from SJW gatekeepers, and also demonstrates to those working for big corporations that they might do better on their own.
