Yeah I think there are particular issues. High status, even if 'other' in Asia. Life of privilege even without that much money (by global standards) because lots of poor people in Asia to do shit for you. Move to Europe and suddenly you have no status, no cheap food, and have to do everything for yourselfI knew people who turned out like this in SEA. Perfectly fine while growing up in Asia. Spend a few years abroad in university and they become bitter, everything is racist people. If he's half, from Singapore, and now works in the UK in something related to Kew Gardens, he's likely from a very wealthy background. Very weird seeing this half asian act as if he's fully Chinese when he's not. Just a case of upbringing I guess.
It turns out his undergraduate degree was in business administration (https://www.hortweek.com/interview-...ile-grow-own-drugs/ornamentals/article/981579) , now called Business, though more recent reports have incorrectly stated he came to the UK to study ethnobotany. (https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/3382152/james-wong-chelsea-flower-show-countryfile/)
His biology qualifcation is just a 1-year MSc https://www.kent.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/189/ethnobotany which his business degree didn't equip him for in anyway. [Edit: this is not a biology qualification, it's a social science . It's not about the mechanisms in plants or whatever, it's anthropology with plants. So he's very poorly qualified on matters like food safety or whatever, because he doesn't really have any kind of science education.]
His claims seem quite fluid
(He went to UWCSEA)
Good grades?
But:
(He did not in fact do any A Levels.)
I found it highly doubtful that of all the many English-speaking ambitious children that there were in Singapore who had better grades than him that he was awarded a scholarship to study in the UK. It is much more likely, especially studying archetypal 'Asian' degree Business, that his parents paid for him as an international student (it's somewhat possible in 1999 he would have been free because he had a UK passport or otherwise scammed in his way into the system.)
I'm not sure how difficult it is to get to work for Kew, as it's not obviously well-paid, and if he spent the last 20 years identifying as Asian, then this would have opened doors for him as he would have been a novelty as a non-white (kinda) person interested in gardening. I don't think this comes from this family wealth.
Which is a lie. Business is from the Management School
Business BSc (Hons) including two six-month placements
Learn the practical, analytical and critical skills you need to become a business leader. Get real professional experience with two placements.

Economics is a different department entirely
Department of Economics
We conduct high quality research and teaching in economics. Our graduates have excellent employment prospects due to our established industry placements scheme.

You studied like Econ 101. you don't have an economics degree.
He likes to attack people who criticise him based on his 'Borneo' identity
Note the idiot responding to him
She has some virtue-signalling about Native Americans, and I guess she is rightly pointing out that some people don't like the term 'tribal'. And he's like 'STFU you white bitch, I can say what I'm like because I'm not white, and you need to shut your damn mouth'
I mean wtf does a guy who is half white, half Chinese known what it's like to be looked down as part of a primitive tribe? In Malaysia the actual native (non-Muslim) tribes are looked down as primitive by the Muslim majority

They call us pigs in school, says Orang Asli
Rahman, an Orang Asli, wants Malaysians to start treating his people with respect.

which is the same thing in Indonesia https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-41981430
The Muslim majority literally wants to eradicate every part of their culture and replace it with 'allahu akbar' and camel fucker costumes, and they see absolutely no value whatsoever in their traditions, and because those people live in the jungle and don't have any money or influence, they will die out in a generation or two. This guy's Chinese identity otoh is shared with 1.3 billion people many of whom spend very large amounts of money preserving their historic culture, language, religion, etc., and is no way threatened by anything.
And he's like 'I'm fRoM BoRNeo'.
He definitely has a lot of chutzpah, and this angry IDpol stuff seems to work out well for him, as opposed to the normal Chinese route of 'working harder and smarter than other people'. I mean, Chinese getting turned down from Harvard with better scores than blacks don't talk like this at all. Hell Chinese people in Malaysia definitely won't get anywhere with his approach.
