Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Tom McGillis, one of the producers of of the Fresh TV Cartoons in 6teen, Total Drama, and Stoked, hinted that one of those shows may return in the future. I don't see it working at all for any of those shows at all. 6teen was pretty much wrapped up with it's finale, and the mall setting would be dated for 2020 standards. Stoked was pretty much dead on arrival, and the later Total Drama seasons were a big enough train wreck that a revival of it would probably do more damage to the show's reputation. Not to mention that Total DramaRama Season 3 is currently in production...
oh god not a 6teen reboot it was tried already...somewhat and it was pure cringe

You know what, I will say that the 3 shows are good.

I feel that each did a good job writing teen characters to be very believable and each had at least one iconic aspect. The biggest flaw these shows had though was the dated premises. 6Teen and Stoked are largely stuck in the 2000s to the point of being unable to truly make a return. Total Drama also shot itself in parodying 2000s Survivor, but I think the show has had the fortune to ingrain itself in popular culture to such a degree that most know and appreciate the parody over the source material. I have no idea how any of these can truly come back though. The day of living at the mall are over and many 2000s brands parodied by 6Teen are dead. Stoked is only remembered for the theme song, if even that. If you bring that back, you may as well bring back 6Teen as Stoked was a poor imitation. Finally, Total Drama has largely been tainted after season 3 where it peaked, and it already has a spin off that is still going. What could they do?

Season 2 of Hilda is out on Netflix now.

I'd forgotten how ugly the FreshTV art style was. I think Stoked looked the worst, though.

Agreed halfway. I thought Total Drama's designs weren't bad. The more new characters they added showed how much they loved recycling designs. Mighty Magswords was the same way.

Damn, this shit looks good.
Didn't back the kickstarter because I wasn't interested at the time and all the big kickstarter flops were starting to appear but man I kinda wish I did.
Animation takes a fuckon amount of time. If you think putting faith and money into something and waiting years and years for it without feeling a little ripped off is worth it then go ahead. Besides there wasn't any exclusivity with LGG's updates. Whatever they shared with backers they shared with the public. Not a good strategy to paying customers but you get what you pay for.

That aside, I’ve been doing some thinking lately; after seeing the direction indie cartoons are going in, my faith in the industry has been renewed. Even reboots don’t look that bad.

Does that mean your little buzzkill episode is over now? The good stuff does exist you just got to find it. Compaining about it won't make it happen any faster (quite the opposite ironically, ask the author of hunger games).

Back on topic, Space Jam 2's teaser is out. The gang's jerseys look like one-piece suits now. Tacky. 🚬

The Long Gone Gulch teaser has been released.
Let’s hope they can keep this date. I know animation takes a while but that was still a whole year missed. At least this can kick off the 2020s right.

Most of it is in trippy animated shorts. The other series being put out are going to have a hard time competing with what’s being put out in the industry right now. But who knows.
If Lola Bunny is going to be back in this film, is she going to be the token female of the original or the Looney Tunes Show version?
And if they do go with the Looney Tunes Show version, how hard will furries seethe?
