He's a medical ethicist. If you see some of the proposals that medical ethicists put forward, you will see that a frightening number of them are truly evil. Give them enough power, and they would be the same kind of inhuman creatures that ran the Tuskegee Experiments or Unit 731.
Realistically, there's not going to be a situation where they do get that power right? I'm just sick of these sociopathic boomers with too much money, suffering from potential midlife crisis/middle schooler-tier edge phase openly talking about wanting to do inhumane shit to average-joes who clean their shit-filled toliets. Its getting annoying.

Something occurred to me (though doomers will inevitably rate me late on it). You know how Lolberts like to say "A state that can give you everything can take everything away"? Maybe all this is a direct counter to that point, "See, the State can take everything from you, whether socialist, crony capitalist or otherwise. All it needs is a good excuse. Now getting a little back from the state doesn't sound so bad in that light, does it?" Are our overlords autistic enough to engineer a crisis just to discredit some boomer meme?

Jeebus, That is a horrifying flipside to the usual. Worst part is I really haven't got a practical answer to it aside from agreeing.

In that vein, 2020 can do the needful with a rusty cactus. I've had about enough of... Everything.

So hypothetically lets say covid-21 is a thing and its more virulent too lets say 10% of untreated people would die regardless of age and health, what would be the red-pill take on that are you gonna comply or are you gonna rebel? Because In the event there is an actual deadly virus on the loose are you gonna run the same gambit?
Define "comply".

If I believe a virus presents serious risk to myself, my family or my friends then I'm going to take the precautions that I feel are necessary - NOT what government-appointed "public health officials" and journo-roaches deem to be necessary.

If I thought COVID-19 were a serious threat, I wouldn't be fucking around with cloth or cheap disposable facemasks, I'd be wearing a fucking P-100, changing the filters after use, keeping my face shaven, showering as soon as I get home, etc. I'd follow the same damn procedures that I followed when working in the proximity of pathogenic fungi at a bare minimum.
10% fatality would be huge, no doubt. It would fuck up a lot, including some critical infrastructure, and a lot of people would die. But I'd rather die free.
That's basically the average smallpox fatality rate.

Crazy how in these "unprecedented times" we are talking hypotheticals about a disease with a similar fatality rate to a pair of species which plagued most major civilizations for over 1,000 years.
You ever sit down and wonder what possible reason they could have had for sending corona infected patients to nursing homes?

See this is what fucking pisses me off - the fucking projection from these people!

I simply advocate that the livelihoods and freedom of movement for the healthy & fit (including socialization & reproductive success) should not be forcibly curtailed for the benefit of the unhealthy & unfit - and somehow I'm a eugenicist who want's to physically remove all the boomers & down-syndrome kids.

But then, we get this fucking "ethical" horseshit about over-population and human consumption, and why everyone needs to stop having kids and btw living past 75 is just excessive and selfish!
Like piss off with your Malthusian "we need to intentionally have less kids/get rid of old people" if you are going to fucking assmad because I dare to think that maybe Natural Selection is, you know, natural and all.

Fuck that and fuck them in the ass with a big, barbed-wire wrapped wooden dick. I do as I please.

Here's someone else who needs that wire-wrapped dick up his ass - Moreno, the "health director" of the county I live in. Today's latest bullshit...

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE CARMEL PINE CONE

December 15, 2020, 4:52 p.m.

MORENO SAYS 'VACCINES FOR GENERAL PUBLIC MAY BE AVAILABLE BY EARLY SUMMER"

• County's cases continue to surge

In a statement released late this afternoon, Monterey County Health Officer Dr. Ed Moreno called it a "tremendous accomplishment" that vaccines to stop the coronavirus from spreading have been developed "just one year after this virus first emerged." (Suck my balls, Moreno. - JS 🖕)

The first doses are being administered now, in conformance with state and federal guidelines, he said, to some of the Greater Bay Area's "nurses, doctors and other healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients." He said the next group to be inoculated would include "those living in skilled nursing facilities and other settings where elderly, vulnerable members of our communities are more likely to have severe illness and die from Covid-19." (I don't give a fuck, still not getting the vaccine. - JS)

But he also said vaccines for the "general public" may not be available until "early summer," and he warned that until they come into widespread use it will be important for everyone to "continue wearing face coverings, avoiding gatherings, postponing travel, and staying home whenever possible." (Fuck you, bitch. - JS)

"The first batches of vaccine will protect those individuals at highest risk of infection and serious illness. As more vaccine becomes available in the months ahead, each of us must continue to do our part to reduce the spread of Covid-19," added Moreno, whose statement was issued jointly with other county health officers from the Bay Area.

CHOMP CREATES WEBSITE WITH VACCINE INFO

Additional information about vaccine distribution on the Monterey Peninsula will be available on a new website created by CHOMP to help meet what the public sees as an urgent need for the latest information.

"We are getting a lot of calls and questions regarding the Covid-19 vaccine," hospital spokesperson Monica Sciuto said this morning. "As many of you know, we are still awaiting the vaccine and are hoping for its receipt by the end of the week."

Since the supply is very limited at this time, she said, "The federal and state governments have developed a phased system to guide who should be vaccinated first, with the focus on vaccinating healthcare workers and long-term care residents, based on who is at the highest risk of becoming infected or severely ill."

She said CHOMP anticipates getting a small supply of vaccine in the first allocation, and, following state guidance, "will be vaccinating staff and medical staff members according to their risk."

To keep up with the latest vaccine news at CHOMP, she urged everyone to check the hospital's new new website devoted to the coronavirus vaccine on a regular basis. CHOMP also has a website for more general information about the coronavirus. (I don't fucking care. Eat me, - JS)

COUNTY'S CASES CONTINUE TO SURGE

Highlighting the urgent need for the vaccines to start becoming widely available here, Monterey County's coronavirus cases have continued to grow rapidly, with 295 new cases reported today by the health department. Of those, 233 were in Salinas and the Salinas Valley and 31 were on the Monterey Peninsula, including 12 in Marina, nine in Seaside, 5 in Monterey, 4 in Pacific Grove, one in Carmel Valley and none in Big Sur, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel area (93923), or Pebble Beach.

Hospitalizations have continued to grow, as well. CHOMP says it now has a total of 35 coronavirus-positive inpatients, including 10 in the ICU, with only one ICU bed open. SVMH says it has 43 coronavirus-infected inpatients, an increase 26 percent from last week. Countywide, there are 25 ICU patients with Covid-19 and 16 available ICU beds, according to the California Department of Public Health.

@Fanatical Pragmatist - Why don't these "ethicists" put their money where their mouths are and off themselves? Believe we would all be mighty grateful if that happened. 👍

Maybe the counter-argument to theoretical government omnipotence over the lives of its citizens are examples of real government incompetence. And they can't just come out and say that it's to liquidate the kulaks like Stalin did, it requires a bunch of smoke and mirrors, and all the rules require little exceptions to make the whole thing bearable.

That could be. At this point I'm just so tired of everything that crawling into a hole and pulling the entrance inside with me for six months or a year is looking really good from where I'm sitting. Poking the fast-forward button on the whole world for a bit is starting to look pretty good.

People with vaccine certificates to face fewer restrictions on life

Vaccine certificates may be needed to attend social gatherings or sporting events once the majority of the population are vaccinated.

I swear every bit of news like this that comes out makes me more and more convinced not to get it. I have all my vaccines, I usually get the flu shot every year, and I was up for this one a few months ago but they've completely lost me with this. If I don't manage to get a medical exemption, I'll get a forged cert. I don't care how effective this thing is, keep it the fuck away from me.

Tom Cruise went apeshit on the MI7 crew for breaking COVID protocols. He’s yelling at 2 people who were too close to one another in front of a computer screen.

Most people on Twitter and YouTube are praising him, by the way.

Y'know what? I'm okay with this.

Thousands, if not millions, of Californians are watching their businesses fall to pieces around them, all while the ratfuck Newsom declares the entertainment industry "essential" and allows it to keep running. If they're gonna get special treatment to be allowed to stay open while the plebs suffer, then I'd rather they get chewed out over breaking restrictions every single time; even better if it comes from someone they're not allowed to talk back to like Cruise. Hold them to the exacting standards that their special status should require of them. It's not gonna make up for countless innocent people losing their jobs and livelihood due to the fucktard in charge's decrees, but it sure won't hurt.

(Side note: I'm not arguing in favor of restrictions, as anyone who's followed my posts in the thread will attest; I was done with them months ago, and it's heartbreaking whenever I see another city or state cracking down again and again. Those workers also assuredly didn't deserve to get berated as they did, and that's probably the last thing they need while trying to jump through all the other hoops they need to. I'm just sick of the rank hypocrisy from those that play with the lives and livelihoods of their constituents while they deem themselves above the restrictions they place on others, with Newsom being pretty much top of the list. He should be thanking his lucky stars every night that a mob hasn't shown up to put his head on a pike (in Minecraft).)

Meanwhile in the UK, there's a glimpse of hope about Covid passports...for now. https://summit.news/2020/12/15/uk-vaccine-minister-u-turn-absolutely-no-plans-for-covid-passports/

Britain’s vaccines minister announced Monday that the government will definitely not mandate the coronavirus shot, and that it has no plans to introduce immunity passports, or place restrictions on those who do not take the jab.
Nadhim Zahawi made the announcement after a petition with more than 324,000 signatures against the so called ‘COVID passports’ was debated in parliament.
“I think mandating vaccinations is discriminatory and completely wrong… and I would urge businesses listening to this debate today not to even think about this,” Zahawi said.
He added that “We have absolutely no plans for vaccine passporting.”
The petition states “I want the Government to prevent any restrictions being placed on those who refuse to have any potential Covid-19 vaccine. This includes restrictions on travel, social events, such as concerts or sports. No restrictions whatsoever.”
Civil liberties groups labeled Zahawi’s comments “a welcome return to rationality”:

Vaccine certificates may be needed to attend social gatherings or sporting events once the majority of the population are vaccinated.
They "may be needed" huh? The subtle weaselly use of language like this to justify authoritarian control is really a sight to see. I'd really like to talk to someone who is legitimately in favor of this "papers, please" approach just to pick their brain and learn where they're coming from. I've discussed the vaccine with people in my life who are definitely excited about taking it, but they really demur when asked whether proof should be presented to access public locations and basic services. I expect intense and sustained propaganda to be directed toward this end over the next year, probably coupled with some sort of announcement about how "it's not getting better!" or "there's a bad new strain!"
