China definitely coofed. I was more on pointing out the potential for misuse if its ever made possible to slap a bill on someone for unleashing a plague on the world. I don't know of anytime that this was done before. I'd be happy to read on an event in the past in which the point of a plague's origin was chastised.

It is possible to bill a nation for that, you just need to be a big country bullying a little country, and said little country must not be friendly with the United States and Israel. It's the rules of the international game, always has been, always will. You can bet if it was a Middle Eastern shithole like Iran fucking around with viruses then there'd be boots on the ground, the entire government hauled off to an international tribunal (unless they were US/Israel friendly in which case a bunch of sheikhs suddenly vanish and that's it), and that country would never see a penny of oil revenue again.

You can't sue China any more than you can sue the United States. International courts are a joke, a country can literally just say "we hold the court has no jurisdiction over us" and if they're powerful enough that's it, they win. And that's assuming you even get that far, like we can't even sue Saudi Arabia over 9/11.

My father in law is an incredibly smart person who raised four kids in an upper-middle-class lifestyle and operates a charity in his free time. It's crazy to me how nobody is willing to put in any amount of research or critical thinking into this, especially when the restrictions are so extreme. Very sad.
