Furry Fandom and Drama General

FNAF porn got out of control fast .

There was porn of Chica long before she got her FNAF 2 make-over. Some furfag looked at this and thought to himself, "I'd hit that."

Thank god I only know this because Markiplier commented on it during his let's play.

This may sound like A-logging, but where does one separate those who use anthropomorphic animals in Sword and Sorcery/Science Fiction stories and plain out furries? Are furries a specific breed of the anthropomorphic animal fan, or are all anthropomorphic animal fans furries? I feel like being a furry is a mentality more than an umbrella term. But that might be because I like the idea of Lizard People fighting ab-human apes in the depths of the Hyborian age.

I think it's definitely a mentality and as well as the context of the media and the viewer. You enjoy lizard men? Okay, fine. Do you want to BE a lizard man? If no, then you're probably not a furry. If yes, I've got some bad news, my friend.

A lot of it, as much as every "clean" furries will deny it, is about sex. In your example again, liking lizard men can be okay, but liking the thought of them doing the lizard nasty, not so much.

To me, it's a lot like My Little Pony fans. There's the Bronies, and then there's women who've been collecting since before Friendship is Magic. They're definitely both weird and more than likely on the fringe of socially acceptable due to liking a show for little girls, but the collectors/admirers are nowhere near as far gone and depraved as Bronies.

Liking anthropomorphic animals has been a thing since ancient BC as seen in some artifacts of animal men that have been discovered. People just inherently associate animals with human traits. It's when you start assimilating into the subculture that it becomes something bad.

In summary: if it's not being fetishized or sexualized in context, it 99% of the time isn't furry.

Can you explain? I don't see any good for someone drawing large dick dog women.

@lolwut pretty much got it. Negating the nature of Winger's artwork, he was modest, frank, and approachable. I did not personally know him, but during the height of my time within the fandom he was one of the artists whose work cropped up more often than others. In terms of the content of his work, yeah that's a little questionable, but in a sense the responsible outward image he projected was not unlike people who are open and frank about BDSM.

This thread has been very....informative. I learned a lot about furry subculture while reading this thread.

A couple of years ago, one of my best friends admittedly to me that she was a furry. Initially, I didn't really give a shit nor do I now. While she has a few lolcow-ish tendencies, she's never been the type to masturbate to furry dicks and whatnot (And if she does, then she does a superb job at hiding it for all these years). The only thing alarming that came of it happened over a decade ago. When we were in middle school, she was obsessed with the Sly Cooper video game series and had a crush on the titular character. She even had her own OC, who she shipped with him and wrote fanfic about it. To this day, I don't take it that seriously because I just chalk it up to typical middle school nonsense. I don't know if she still considers herself a furry these days and I'm kinda afraid to ask. Recently however, we did have the same observation that the upcoming Disney movie Zootopia was gonna be big with furries while watching the teaser trailer. Basically, as long as someone who just has affinity for certain animals considers them a furry, then whatever. But it always fun to make fun of the more crazy ones.

I'm obviously not well versed in furry drama but I do follow this one blog called furrytrainwrecks. A couple of months ago, I guess they were documenting this one furry who recently beat cancer. Cool, right? Well apparently, she gets her first paycheck since and guess what the first thing she spends it on? A tattoo. Normally, this wouldn't be so bad if she was a very young adult. But she's not. She apparently has bills to pay and even a child to take care of. The mod of this particular blog commented on this, stating that they personally thought this was irresponsible. Cue several members of the furry fandom coming after them because 'OMG HOW DARE YOU TELL A CANCER SURVIVOR WHAT TO DO WITH THEIR MONEY!" I know this is rather tame compared to the other shit that has been brought up on here but I still thought it was relevant considering that earlier in the thread we were talking about furries and money problems.

Here's the url for furrytrainwrecks in case anyone wants to look at it. It's hilarious, although NSFW at times. I think the blog is even run by a furry
