Spent 39 months in Korea, two tours. Koreans often wore masks in the winter. Same thing in Japan and much of China. But these masks were obviously no good in Wuhan, and don't see how good they have ever been. All just a measure of political control.
People are tired of all the house arrests. "They" are becoming ever more shrill in their fearmongering. "They" simply do not or don't want to realize "they" are putting the final nails in the coffin of their credibility. The more shrill the message, the less anyone with a brain believes them.
I walk around, and as appropriate ask people if they trust the government any more to handle anything like this again. The answer is "no", every time. Believe this attitude is growing by leaps and bounds. You can figure the amount of societal damage governmental lust for power and fearmongering has caused, is causing, and will be causing. This damage will take a long time and be very difficult to fix, and to certain extents cannot be repaired at all.
Folks, if someone here advocates wearing a mask cut them some slack. Let them do as they please, not harming you. Perhaps they have reasons to be so afraid.
Am not so sanguine, though, about those still supporting house arrests. These have done and are doing a tremendous amount of damage as they have been carried out. If back in March after two weeks the hot spots and buffer zones had been quarantined, and everyone else released, believe we could have gone with that. When the house arrests turned into unbridled power trips by little Hitlers they turned into oppressive measures against innocent people. And I wonder why the incarceration of Japanese-Americans in concentration camps has just come to mind. What we have here today is, in concept, the same thing - depriving American citizens of their civil rights for no good reason and without due process. The judicial system gets a black mark for their slowness in defending our rights. Law enforcement, too.
"They" are sowing the seeds of societal poison. God only knows what fruit will come of them. Just my thoughts.
Added: @benutz - I'd bet certain US intelligence agencies know the whole story behind China and the ChiCom Flu. Bet it is very compartmented and very close-hold, meaning only a relative few know the whole thing.
Added some more: @ADHD - Am pretty sure those willing to pay $25K for the vaccination are getting it. Money doesn't talk, it screams. ALWAYS ways to shake a few doses loose and make some big bucks, especially in SoCal. I shit you not.
