I'd take SJWs more seriously, if they weren't so abjectly WRONG on the history. Check a periodic table sometime, she put TWO of those on there and a third one's NAMED after her.

SJWs like to think the world is more sexist than it really is.

That amazingly extends to denying that the supposedly male-dominated establishment has ever recognized women who've ever accomplished anything groundbreaking.

I think it's more a case of they think they know everything already, so, why do any RESEARCH? Besides, we all know books=patriarchy! History is written by the oppressors!!!!! MUH FEELS TRUMP YOUR REALS!!!!

Yep. That's quite accurate.

However, I'm pretty sure that a lot of SJWs think that the world is more sexist than it is. Some probably even believe that a future right out of Margaret Atwood's nightmares is barking down our door unless we (the SJWs, that is) do something about it.

I feel the need to point out that her ability to isolate radium from uranium ore wasn't so much because of some novel technique, but her sheer skill as a chemist(according to one of my chemisty professors), and that the only reason Rosalynd Franklin didn't get a Nobel for her work on DNA is because they weren't awarded posthumously at that point.

When there is a culture of, "It is not my place to educate you" it tends to suppress curiosity as people then educate themselves but without recieving feedback if they are going on the wrong track.

"It is not my place to educate you" is another way of saying
"I do not want my beliefs challenged"
"I am intellectually lazy"
"I do not talk to unbelievers"

In the SJW community, everyone is afraid to call out when the emperor wears no clothes. If you haven't read the story
http://hca.gilead.org.il/emperor.html

Everyone buys into the narrative lest they are thought sexist/racist/misoginist/etc. The narrative is the emperors clothes. In the story no one calls out that the emporer is wearing no clothes because they are afraid of being stupid. It is only the child, ignorant of the ways of the "adult" world and the importance of saving face calls out the emperor wears no clothes. No one within the community is going to call out the flaws in the narrative, they are all afraid of losing face, because to challenge the "Truth" is to show they are sexist/racist/misoginist/etc.

Those who have not bought into the game and accepted "Truth" are more likely to challenge the narrative. But then, it is not my place to educate you so these. people will only receive affirmations of being "right" when they are following the "Truth" and any critical thought or "thought crime" is purged from the bubble. No one wants to be thought a bad person or stupid and we all do have our reputations to maintain. When we lose our reputation in the community we value we become a pariah, moved to the outsider status, and no longer respected. Humans are social creatures and even the deepest introvert needs some level socialization.

There has been studies that show that people are willing to get an answer wrong and deny what their own eyes are seeing because they are afraid of being wrong. I cite the Soloman Asche study (http://www.age-of-the-sage.org/psychology/social/asch_conformity.html) and the Milgram Experiment (http://nature.berkeley.edu/ucce50/ag-labor/7article/article35.htm) to show to what extent people are willing to betray themselves in the name of conformity.

TL/DR: The SJW community thrives on the human need for belongly to the point where people will betray their own eyes and morality in the name of conformity.

It's super easy to find sexism, racism and any other 'ism when you go hunting for it. If you break down and examine every thing you see and hear under your own special little microscope of course your going yo see what your looking for.

You also get rewarded for such discoveries/accusations with reblogs/retweets/likes.

The difference is in the SJW community they are only too willing to execute the child who says the emperor has no clothes.

You can't fool all of the people all of the time, but you can make those who aren't fooled look bad in the eyes of those who are.

(Incidentally, this whole discussion has given me the idea to write a satire using the story as a base and social justice warriors as the topic...)

I wish I had recorded it but my favourite example of this is from a modern artist called Tracy Emit, she's a famous millionaire modern artist whose work consists of stuff like this and this (An unmade bed being her most famous work selling for 2.5 million GBP (Near 4 million dollars)) and yet during an interview claims that she is being held back and would be far more successful and wealthier if she was a man.

Ah, the infamous Tracey Emin. It's pretty hard to be held back when your 'art' doesn't require any talent whatsoever.

"It would be different if I was a man" is, ironically, as sexist as the discrimination she claims to suffer from. It makes assumptions without proof, based on nothing but stereotypes and ultimately, as an untestable hypothetical, does no good except pre-judge others as "victims" or "privileged/oppressors" I hate when someone goes there in an argument because it's an indefensible point, the same as saying "my success is due to God", you can't prove it, or disprove it, you can only agree or disagree, and disagreement, however logical will be counted against you as doubting someone else's sincerity and/or feelings.

To be fair, that post about gentlemen in dresses can make some sense if the intended message is that the speaker believes that through feminism men will be allowed to wear dresses in public (or more generally take on roles in society traditionally reserved for women and exhibit characteristics which are currently somewhat "taboo" for men)

That's a statement I would find, to use a popular feminist/SJW term, problematic (ha) but at least it makes sense from a (third wave) feminist perspective.

Or maybe its just a batshit SJW making a non-sensical comment and an illogical comparison.

This is what sexism has come to? "I'm successful, but I'm not more successful because I'm a woman?"

I'm sure a man in a dress gets a different reaction from a woman in a dress.

Considering that people like the commenter consider drag queens and the whole notion of men in drag transmisogynistic, why should we want to do so? We're just going to get hatred one way or the other.
