Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

What's the future of Jim's fans? People have stuck around through the wrestling shit and the pansexual shit because they like his core content enough, but there has to be a breaking point where people will finally start to leave. At that point Jim could only cement xirself as lefttube's hardcore gamr. Hs audience might stick around for longer but they could absolutely leave him one day. The question is what would he do from there?
Complain on twitter and his podcast that ists and phobes are targeting him

Huh.. Jim Sterling is going to troon soon.
Good thing that TB didn't have to witness this.

If you're a fat white man on the internet and trying to get serious, you have to become a fat white "beautiful woman" that immediately makes you immune to all and every kind of criticism.
Good choice for hi-he-fuck him.

Personally If I was jim making that kind of money and have that kind of fanbase, I'd look into re-routing comparitive influence into some sort of good. Maybe some sort of grassroots campaigningfor a proto-union/more rights for game developers or a retainer lawyer for basic worker disputes......he could probably start using his voice for a gaming fuppa which is funded by public.. He clearly hates the system and he has some strength so why not fight?
the problem with forming unions is that you have to be in a profession that isn't completely over-saturated with people desperate to work in it. ironically, that's also the reason why everyone complains they need unions in the vidya world in the first place, because there's so many people that want to work in vidya that there's little repercussion for burning people out and throwing them away.

i mean, little repercussion outside of the actual quality of the end product anyways.

Probably, but their's still plenty of options Jim can explore were he's able to level the playing field.

People like Jim will always have a small contingent of crazy dedicated fans that'll watch anything he makes, no matter how far downhill he goes. They're the ones that treat him as sort of a pretend-internet-friend experience. Everyone else will just drift off. I'm sure that's happened to some degree this year. I used to write up gigantic posts in this very thread dismantling each Jimquisition, but there came a time where there just wasn't anything much to go on. Jim kept reiterating his points so often that even I got sick of reiterating my own retorts over and over every week. It's like he had maybe 5 or 6 different shows he'd just paint a different color and post every week. Only the most retarded of fans wouldn't notice that, and Jim sure seems to have a lot of retards in his audience.

I liked Jim around 2017 I heard about him through the Digital Homicide lawsuit enjoying the back and forth. The thing that put me off him was him playing the worst steam game series. Unlike AVGN who would make horrible games fun through his over-the-top humor, Jim would just play these asset flip games one after another and it just seemed like low effort content. As time went on I cared less about games and now I just go to people I know and ask, hey what's your opinion on this and at that point why listen to Jim at all.

It's my understanding Jim has gotten very political since I stop watching as even my left-leaning friends think he's a wackjob. I also don't understand his fight against "crunch" as everyone from teachers to mechanical engineers have points where they work more or less in the year. 14 hours a day isn't fun but I've heard of far far worse and Jim acting like it's the plight of the working class comes across as misinformed and silly. and can someone please explain why a cis man is taking estrogen? does this have something to do with his wife?

ResetEra confirms he is a tranny now

This is always my argument when the masses get worked up over "crunch" again, how many professions out there don't go through such a period with more relaxed periods in between? All I've ever gotten as a response to that is shouts of "but thats different" or "but its worse in the games industry" which never get any elaboration when asked why. Surely everyone knows that late night panic to get an essay ready for a deadline, this is just the industry equivalent.

Personally I like the relax/crunch cycle at work, make fuck loads of overtime for like 3-4 weeks then have 6 months or more doing my normal hours for my regular salary before something else takes up every waking hour. I would argue that is less likely to cause employee burn out that if the load was averaged to give constant longer weeks and deadline pressure, people just can't live in a heightened state of pressure every week for their entire working life.

I got into Jims content around the same time I got into TB, which is right about the time when TB started to get really popular. I remember Jim having okish reviews of games but I enjoyed his commentary, when I really wanted to know something about a game I looked to see if TB had said anything about it.

Jim today is a fucking disgrace, for the past year he's made different versions of the same fucking video and then a month or so ago he whined about the "youtube algorithim" fucking up his views for new video. I can just about guarantee that a lot of his longtime fans did the same thing I did when it came to his new videos:

  1. Press play
  2. press 1 so I can skip the retarded waste of time that is the intro to each of his videos.
  3. then keep pressing numbers to jump thru the video to get the jist of what he's talking about, usually I would get to about 4 when I'd just close the video as it would be a carbon copy of a video he made within the past few months.
Jim very clearly has zero respect for his audiences time or he wouldn't waste as much of it putting stupid shit in his videos to pad play time. Do we really need to have 5 minutes at the beginning of each video of the fat manchild playing dress up, or showing off yet another toy?

On a side note does anybody have a reviewer who took TBs place for you when it comes to "trusted reviewer"?

Good question. I originally subbed to him a few years ago because I found his piss-off attitude about bullshit in the gaming industry endearing. But now his constant sperging about equal representation for .0000001% of the population is getting old. He's obviously completely miserable. If he goes full troon and chops his dick off we could easily see him joining the 50% club.

trooning out is always a last resort

He did a Jimquisition back in March called "mr negative" where he just endlessly complained about how he needs to keep doing the same thing over and over again because when he tries something new with Jimquisition it doesn't get any views. So basically it's the audience's fault and Null's theory about him hating video games is true.

Same in my career field. Around May to September is our 'busy' time, where you can easily work seven days a week if you want to. Meanwhile this is our current down period in business. I still work an eight hour shift, but I honestly only do about thirty minutes worth of work a day.

It makes it nice for the holidays knowing that I can relax at work.

I checked out this year. He used to sometimes talk about dynasty warriors or dark souls, but Christ everything is crunch and microtransactions and crunchotransactions and transotransactions now, and it's all in the triple a capitalism voice.

I cannot even muster up morbid curiosity for the videos anymore now that the person ostensibly making a show about video games cannot even seem to talk about a video game he has recently played. Maybe this is all on purpose. Maybe if his YouTube channel fails, his wife's boyfriends will let him devote himself to gay wrestling full time
