It might even be a "regional" thing but there was always a "Resource Room" where seemingly normal-appearing (for the most part) persons were there. I remember meeting a hot chick who went to the local high school that I did not attend, I went to a different school in the same region but not my city. Her and I started dating, and then I later was informed she had 4 out of 9 daily periods of the school day "in the resource room". Come to find out, she was a "suicide baiter" type and like had adjustment issues. Some of the other freaks in there were more obvious. However, it was commonly a place where at-risk and behaviorally-demented types could get some one-on-one and much needed help.
