Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Let me see if I got this, around 11 days after you received a creepy stalker-y DM from Liam Gray, one in which he basically promised to financially support you and yours if the SJW's win, you backed his book for over $!k?

Why were you encouraging that sort of behavior from Liam?

The more this shit show known as Comicsgate drags on, the more I'm convinced Ethan is the biggest troll of all time within all culture war hashtag movements. Now, I see where you're going with it. If I was in that position I probably would have, ya know, not answered the messages of someone that's quite possibly a lunatic.

But, Ethan brought us one of the greatest lol cows to be milked and laughed at. You'd think he'd stop after months of making an ass out of himself, but Liam just can't help himself. He's one of the most autistic terminators I've ever seen. He just won't stop. Ever.

As much as I love dancing around in a fountain of Liam milk, the sensible side of me has to side with Boudica in rebellion against you here, Frog.

The more appropriate response to that first message would have been,
"Yeah no way you big spastic you're a MENTALIST"

Frog I vaguely remember you saying you liked Stewart Lee? This scene is actually inspired by an anecdote Lee told the writer of this (Peter Baynham, who went on to write Borat) about how he couldn't get a hotel after a comedy show, and had to crash at a fan's house and sleep in a room with posters of him on the wall.

No, I receive messages like this from dozens of people, and I don't read any of them.

I didn't read that message until I posted it here, and I just picked it at random. There are many more just like it.

I backed his comic because I felt sorry for him. Life is clearly a challenge. This was before he began striking channels, or before I knew much else about him.

Not much differentiates Liam from 75% of the people I've met in comics, both professionally and in the fandom community. Sad but true.

Sounds like the makings of an awesome sequel for the movie Misery. Liam even looks like a ginger Kathy Bates.

"Best-selling novelist Paul Sheldon is on his way home from his Colorado hideaway after completing his latest book, when he crashes his car in a freak blizzard. Paul is critically injured, but is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes, Paul's "number one fan", who takes Paul back to her remote house in the mountains (without bothering to tell anybody). Unfortunately for Paul, Annie is also a headcase. When she discovers that Paul has killed off the heroine in her favorite novels, her reaction leaves Paul shattered (literally)..."

Nasser likes the horror stuff, he should give it a treatment! Who wouldn't buy a 'Liam kidnaps and tortures Frog' comic? CG, OG-CG, anti-CG, etc. Tons of free promotion from the sperg breakdown that would ensue. Public Figures, Parody, Fair Use and all that.

Crossposting this from the lolsuit forum, but the latest update from Ya Boi Zack's Patreon announces that he's dropping the lawsuit against Mark Waid and receiving nothing.

One wonders what effect this will have on Comicsgate and Ya Boi Zack going forward. Has the CG community moved on from its initial rallying cry against Mark Waid's tortious interference? Have Zack's backers for that matter? On the plus side, if his lawsuit was completely invalid in the first place then he's avoided the absolutely worst case scenario, which is entering anti-SLAPP/TCPA counter-litigation like Vic Mignogna did.

I don't see anyone else mentioning this here yet, and I don't see any videos about it either, but I figure if this was sent to people supporting his legal fight, it will get a full public release shortly

I'm kind of disappointed that this didn't go all the way, but I can see the desire to end this hassle, with all of the waiting for a court date to come and then have things thrown into the air for whatever the latest reason was that the court date got moved out.

EDIT: Mr. Dongs beat me to it ;)

This suit is (basically) past that point. Waid spent so much time fighting jurisdiction that the window for TCPA (since this is a Texas case) passed, though they agreed that if certain rules regarding TCPA were to be changed before the end of 2020, that would allow for a TCPA challenge.

EDIT: I was half-joking about Nasser but the more I think about it... Who wouldn't buy a 'Liam kidnaps and tortures Frog' comic? CG, OG-CG, anti-CG, etc. Tons of free promotion from the sperg breakdown that would ensue. Public Figures, Parody, Fair Use and all that.

I wonder if Liam will be more like the film Annie, who hobbles Paul by smashing his feet with a sledgehammer, or the book Annie, who fully chops off his feet and then seals up the bleeding stumps with a blowtorch.

It's an interesting case study for Nasser to explore. The change for the movie was made by the legendary screenwriter William Goldman, adapting King's novel for the screen.

His reasoning for changing it was that he believed the amputation version can work in literary description, but to actually depict it as cinema would have been too much for the audience to recover from, it would be so graphic that it would break people out of engagement in the story. So he changed it to the hobbling - which still holds up as one of the great horror moments in cinema.

So what about a comic Nasser? How would YOU adapt it for the medium? Should it become more graphic, or less?

These are rhetorical questions for you to mull over, you needn't actually reply.

The change for the movie was definitely the right way to go.

Actually it would be hilarious to see the sperging that Liam would do, if Nasser put together a Misery parody with Liam in the Kathy Bates role and EVS in the James Caan role.

Even if EVS were to give his blessing to such a project(which potentially would be funny as hell), I doubt Nasser would want to set Liam off on his false flagging happy ways again.

On the positive side, Waid probably won't try anything like this again as the Covid collapse of civilization should keep him out of unnecessary entanglements and jobs get tougher to find.

On the negative, if there is some sort of muzzle on Meyer from even mentioning Waid, it'll feel like he lost a good deal of his critical edge. I really wanted Waid to be legally recognized as a scumbag too.

This is a website that revolves around doxxing and "invasion of privacy".

Twitter is the appropriate platform to winge about 'muh privacy', not Kiwi Farms

I think there will be a significant number of people who miss despising Micah when he fades into further obscurity.

Indeed. What sane man lets a guy who stalked his family on social media into his figurative house? The only sensible responses involve fire arms or at least intentional and deliberate distancing. Back away from the orange psycho.

"Come on my show, I'll promote your manga rip off", would have never crossed my mind.
He also backed Liam book 12 times so it makes perfect sense NOT

I wonder which party approached the other first?
If Meyer was the one who came to Waid and said "Look, I want to drop the suit," then I'm beyond disappointed.
If it was Waid, then it won't be too bad as long as a settlement was reached that addressed Meyer's grievances.

Okay, if I'm to understand this correctly, Ethan first became aware Liam's apparent inappropriate communication with his family during the FaceBook era of Ethan's social media saga. I'm not sure I buy it that Liam was being anything other than an autist back then because 7-9 years later Ethan is backing Liam's campaign to the tune of 4 figures with messages that he "cares" about his "stalker".

If this is a stalker/victim relationship then both parties are behaving very very strangely.

For the record, I think Liam IS unhinged and obsessed with the Frog but the evidence indicates that's a more recent development and likely the result of Liam's fanatical support of ComicsGate and by proxy it's defacto figure head than a long standing infatuation. Ethan was elevated to "savior of comics" status to a lot of dull individuals in the last three years. Before that? not so much. I'm not especially convinced Liam was stalking Ethan when he made an autistic comment about Ethan's then father in law.

If I'm wrong, and I certainly could be, then why has Ethan been platforming, encouraging and giving money to his stalker with notes saying "I care about you"?

I have zero doubt that Liam is an unstable LoLcow obsessed with Ethan at this point. My question is why would Ethan encourage that kind of behavior?

"Liam has been noticeably creeping on me and my family since before my last marriage ended but we got along well until last week."

Something doesn't add up.

Not much differentiates Liam from 75% of the people I've met in comics, both professionally and in the fandom community. Sad but true.
You'd put 75% of your support base in the same category as Liam? That's not an especially charitable outlook for your fanbase. Some might even call that contemptuous.

I wouldn't say that 75% of people in the comics industry and fandom are unhinged stalker types but then I quit following your exploits because of the unhinged behavior of your fan club WarCampaign along with your behavior and your circle, so maybe your right. When RoyCornball was inserting Edwin into blow bang porn with your blessing it was pretty clear to me that your circle wasn't what I would call "well adjusted".

Or maybe it isn't everyone in comics but rather the people in comics you decide to cultivate relationships with like Liam, Micah, Ro, Sketch Therapy, Pan, WarCampaign and so on. Perhaps it's not 75% of people who think Spider-Man is cool, but rather 75% of people who think that @FROG is cool.

I mean what kind of people do you expect to attract when you tell Liam you 'care about him' while giving him money and you give SKETCH THERAPY a wrench to moderate your chat?

If you don't want unhinged retards fucking with your shit I would suggest you stop encouraging them.

IMO he was just emulating Howard Stern's Wack Pack from the old days before Stern cucked. Mal-adjusted or defective scrunts who'll degrade themselves for free (or promotion) is easy content. Great way to fill three hours and the world needs a Stuttering Cecil..

Those clowns eventually became a liability for Stern too and he had to cut off and distance himself from most.

EDIT: Liam's been streaming for 90 mins...

Only 1 problem with that theory.
The same court that Meyer v. Waid was being litigated ruled in a 2019 case that the TCPA was not applicable in the jurisdiction of Federal court.
Since Meyer v. Waid was a FEDERAL lawsuit and not a STATE lawsuit, thus whether or not Waid could even file the TCPA came into question.
We'll never know, but it would have been interesting if Waid lost a crucial tool in his toolbox.

I think by now a lawsuit would not be beneficial to either of them.

Because Mark Wiad is on his way down because of a dying mainstream industry and Rich is on his way up as a fully established comic book publisher. Neither of them can really afford to push through with a lawsuit that has pretty much become pointless due to the Comic Book crowd on both sides not really giving a damn about the outcome anymore.

Basically, Rich got what he wanted and became a part of the comic book industry and Waid got exposed as the villain he really is but, still got away with keeping Rich away from being published by a mainstream publisher.
So at the end this was kind of a draw.

If someone sues you and the lawsuit goes away that's a win.

If you sue someone and the lawsuit goes away that's a loss.

I imagine Mr Biggun's doesn't see this as a win. Didn't he supposedly donate 5 figures to that GFM to see it through?

I guess it would be more of a win on Waid’s part, but the lawsuit did benefit Rich a lot more than it did Waid. The lawsuit might have went away but Ward’s reputation is damaged and he did not prevent Rich from becoming a force in the industry. That’s why I see it as a draw.

As for Mr Bigguns, a fool and his money are easily parted.
