Wow. I haven't watched AVGN in a couple of years and now that I heard Mike left I come back to see that the whole channel is just utter, abysmal garbage.

I feel that the "golden age" of AVGN was around season 3 or 4, sometime before episode 100 and his piece of garbage movie. He's been coasting ever since, but there WERE a couple of bright spots. But whereas I used to watch all the time, even turned his episodes into mp3s to listen to on the way to work, I got to the point where I just sort of forgot about him until ten more episodes had been released.

Now I look at the channel and I'm honestly shocked. What a fucking lazy sellout. It's totally James' prerogative and he owes me nothing, especially since I DID get several years' worth of entertainment when he actually gave a shit, but I'm just honestly surprised that he's demonstrating such a lack of integrity now. Selling his entire channel to a bunch of useless, fat, unfunny-ass faggots, acting as if they're some kind of great friends (too bad they aren't, otherwise they would have been screwed over like Bootsy by now), when in fact they're just talentless leech hangers-on that can't be satisfied connecting themselves to his brand, they have to actually appear in his shows. Now every damn video has a stupid sponsorship, Mike has left (not that I care, but just another nail in the coffin), and James himself can't even be bothered to WRITE his own material anymore because he's too busy...putting together a fucking band? Seriously? I honestly thought that this was a joke. People actually give a shit about this plan?

What a change a few years makes. I used to really respect this guy, his ambition, his drive, his creativity. And again, while I acknowledge that he can do whatever he wants and owes me nothing, I have to admit that I'm really disappointed to see that he's just decided to say fuck all and coast along on his name recognition and some monthly paychecks from sponsors and a collection of pedophile-friendly social miscreants that no one wants to look at.

Super Best Friends, Achievement Hunter, now AVGN. The reliable, relatable Youtuber is dead.

I don't really care that much either way about the current state of things with AVGN considering the overall state of YouTube and I feel like James decided "fuck it, time to ride this out" while focusing on things he actually cares about now in his own time.

The crew is surprisingly inept and unfamiliar with movies and lazily do their homework. Shocker that fat, dirty dudes have shit work ethic even on things they're paid to pretend to care about.

ps mike matei fucking sucks, imagine where he'd be without james.

I've always suspected that Mike got paid good with Cinemassacre because for years I have suspected he was a junkie based on looks and mannerisms. Just a junkie with enough work ethic to maintain their habit.

I've never liked Mike, always found him an annoying spergy faggot, but I will give him credit in that he seemed to do a lot of work for James and the AVGN brand. I wonder if the reason he parted ways isn't so much to focus on his own content, but because he saw which way the winds were blowing with the Screenwave idiots, how big a dip in quality the series had taken, tried getting James to listen to reason, saw James doesn't give a fuck anymore and an argument led to his departure. Probably overanalyzing this, but it seems odd after 13+ years, your best friend would just up and leave with only a vague explanation.

I typically find most "Youtubers" to be obnoxious, annoying, fever-sperging douchebags. I had AVGN, the Best Friends, and Achievement Hunter. That's all I could find. Three whole channels (out of probably thousands) that I enjoyed listening to when it came to gaming. Now, in one way or another, they're all gone. It's sad.

Two things you forgot:

1. Underbelly was apart of the first Normal Boots, which is why they hacked the Continue?! sub-reddit. It's not really spoke about because who the fuck cares about the names that got booted off pre-JonTron fame.

2. Midway into Silvermania, they attempted a LP channel called JAGS - Just Another Game Show

Don't forget that he has gone on the record as saying that he only eats take out or readily-prepared food for every meal and has for quite some time. He even got into an argument with people on Twitter for telling him that was lazy and unhealthy.

Kieran and friends remind me of all of the unfunny "nerd savvy lol so wacky" faggots I had the displeasure of dealing with in real life and offline in the 2000s and 2010s. Like, this is 2020, have your balls dropped yet and bother to turn on the lights in your basements? Think about actually making real content instead of trying to coattail Big Bang Theory and MST3K and Collegehumor? No? Have fun on that trainwreck when you get there. I should had known the red flags when Kieran opened up his weeaboo mouth about Street Fighter anime movies on Rental Reviews. That's always a red flag right there. Those faggots are insufferable. And to know that they are writing all of James's work these days, that's pretty shit. Mike, I could ignore him. He had the decency to just pop up and do his own shit on the side. If I wanted to see it, great. Don't get me wrong though, that shitty kneejerk "improv" take on being MST3K with a Sesame Street movie put me off for a few years, but that was his own shit. The fact that the three fat chicks in party hats are taking over James' reviews is another story. The only thing memorable about Rental Reviews was a comment asking how it would smell in that studio, and everyone said a combination of gross but accurate things for neckbeards. TL;DR I hope "pop culture humor" dies for a good few years until someone like James again comes along. Even shit like VG Cats and Penny Arcade is professionally made than this shit.

Honestly, Seanbaby is divisive in hindsight overall. He does write for Cracked and he does work for the dollar for those cucks, but Seanbaby has painted himself as a superior minded genius of America like a proto-Bob Chipman since he founded his website, hoping that politicians would rescind necessary procedures to keep warning labels on plastic bags and other hazardous things because he feels the world needs to be a constant Darwin Awards contest, a proto-fedora lord by being a know it all atheist "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE" jerkoff who thought he was the only smart person in college, and as an edgier Maddox. He was funny in his Absoludicrous reviews, some of his insights on life's absurdities, and some of the things he published for EGM, but as time tells us, it devolved into a shitty Ad Libs game all ending in "Phil Colins's penis".

So yeah, I'm surprised he doesn't have a thread yet, but I can see how he doesn't. I would like to know more about what kind of bullshit clickbait he's writing up these days though just to mock how he's fallen from grace.
