Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

I quickly skimmed the thread and didn't see MrBallen mentioned.

If you get past all of his video titles and thumbnails being cringiest clickbait imaginable, you find that he's actually a really good narrator and the content is solid. The videos vary between a mix of things: True stories (caving, cave diving, sailing accidents), older stories (Skinwalker Ranch) and paranormal stuff (Missing 411, hauntings).

I particularly like the Missing 411 playlist.

Came back from the dead thanks to the latest Nexpo vid being another gay REDDIT SCARY WOW DARK AND MYSTERIOUS video. I love how he claims that what makes that story believable is the guy's first comment after he supposedly started tripping on datura going "Google.com how normal again stop now"

Yes because when I'm high off my fucking mind my first plan of action is to conveniently go back to the reddit thread I made and comment my stoned google search there, totally inconspicuous.

Anyway, I saw people mentioning JCS, there's another guy that popped out named Matt Orchard who makes similar high quality videos. It's a nice gap fill when JCS is on hiatus, I really liked his Holtzclaw video, it's a long watch but if you're looking for some nice background noise it's great.

90% of videos by these sorts of channels are shit. No I don't care about this week's viral marketing ARG youtube channel featuring a missing girl who posts on a subreddit full of random numbers that's tied to a spooky mobile game you get from a QR code on posters put up overnight all around portland with a phone number that leads to a voicemail about dreams that's a coded message to a URL with only a password field.

But the other 10% is, like, real world mysteries that I find fascinating. So I'm glad they show up in my recommended a lot.

Just fucking stop with the ARGs for christ's sake.

I wish Nexpo would stop sucking Reddit's cock every time he talks about it. We know it's the "front page of the internet", you've already told us a million times. The fact you use it so much isn't relatable, it's just sad.

The fact that almost everything spooky online in recent memory has turned out to either be an ARG or viral marketing campaign has made the internet feel a whole lot less mysterious.

ARGs are either not spooky in the first place or are massively disappointing to find out they're ARGs.

Sometimes things are better left unanswered.

Wanna thank this thread for reminding me of Lazy Masquerade's existence, I used to watch his stuff but fell off for whatever reason, got a good backlog of videos to listen to while I go about my day, really enjoy his content.

I usually can't stand horror youtubers that focus more on scary stories than actual unnerving events/weird happenings, but Lazy nails it somehow. He doesn't act like a retard when narrating stories about supernatural encounters, going all "omg is it real?? is it fake?? literally impossible to tell anything's possible" he just delivers the story and delivers it well, it doesn't matter if the stories are true or not, they manage to genuinely be scary.

And speaking of ARG's, I don't really know how much you can call this one an ARG to be fair, but this channel Inside a Mind just made a video on it is really good which is a refresher, obvious Local58 influence but it's not an issue, and it's still ongoing it seems.

There's another guy who's decent but I just ran into him and can't recall the name right now, TT something i think, does interrogation videos.

Quick edit, found first one:

Gemini Home Video is amazing, I love that shit. Also check out Eventide Media Center.
First video:

Only somewhat related since this show obviously predates the internet, but recently I discovered that the entire Unsolved Mysteries series, including update segments, has been uploaded to Youtube for free:

In my opinion this show is easily the precursor to the YT Horror/Mystery genre, and a couple of creators have mentioned they're familar with it too. If you aren't old enough to remember this show, I suggest you familiarize yourself with it. The theme song alone is legendary.

You wanna know what would have been a good version of the nexpo video? Use your gay reddit story as an intro, then segue into a bunch of people's fucked up experiences on Datura. The Datura and the visions seen while on it, is the interesting part. Not a fucking reddit post.
For real. Stories of actual trips are a million times scarier than whatever faggy reddit ~mystery~ shit that was

Sweet, also Pluto has an Unsolved Mysteries channel if you want a more "TV like" experience.

I hope Nexpo varies his content because it's concerning his last two videos were about Reddit and the whole reddit dicksucking is honestly annoying.
Before uploading the reddit videos, Nexpo said he'd return to content which resembles his old style of videos. Not quite sure why he said that, since his more recent reddit videos really aren't comparable to his old content. I think from now on, we either get faggy reddit videos or faggy live action ARG videos. Sad, but what can you do.

By the way: Merry Christmas everybody. Hope you're having a good one.

If you're looking for more 411 stuff, there's another smaller channel called Top Mysteries who mostly covers that as well as odd disappearances/missing person cases. I don't know what it is, but the idea of predatory beings using national parks as hunting grounds is insanely interesting and rather creepy.
I remember ReignBot covered it, but it was really rushed and rather shoddy, seeing as how she left out a lot of information and ultimately brushed it off as conspiracy from a washed-up cop looking for clout. That's a big thing I don't like about RB (and any spook channel), she always puts her opinion in, dashes any spook and intrigue against the rocks. I don't care if it could be fake, most viewers are grounded enough to still be skeptical about it at the end of the day.

Oh, I forgot one more channel I don't think has been mentioned: Scary Mysteries does specific lists and topics regarding serial killers/murderers, supernatural/paranormal stuff, the unexplained, real crime, etc. Most of them are under 20 minutes and unlike other channels who pad the runtime out or add stupid shit, he gets right to the point - the meat and potatoes - and move on to the next subject. Imo, the videos have an almost tv-quality feel to them too, like they'd be shown between Investigation Discovery shows or something.

Omg, the nostalgia is flooding back, I remember watching these back when I was little, some gave me nightmares. There's one episode I distinctly remember still, where a family was under demonic attack or something along those lines; guess I have a reason to binge watch them now lol

I recently discovered that the aforementioned Top 5s channel has a second channel solely for TC called "Cold Case Detective" which is pretty great actually.

Also yes YouTube is making it harder and harder for stuff "we" generally like to exist on the platform. SpookyRice's videos keep getting deleted apparently so he has to upload to Bitchute.

He did another great video on Catastrophe Crow, a video game ARG similar to Petscop that actually had me fooled for the first few minutes. Also, major props to whoever actually made Catastrophe Crow. Now that is how you do a creepy lost video game.

After watching both videos, I definitely feel that Nexpo's quality tanked at this point, and that OP was a faggot and faked the whole thing.

Congrats Nexpo, you chronicled someone's very likely fake and gay story of them taking a very dangerous drug.

I've been binge watching MrBallen lately. His narration is great and theirs a huge variety of stories. His videos that deal with stalkers and other odd encounters are keeping me up at night. I can't stand his thumbnail clickbaiting, though, and he does these really bizarre like-my-video games that exist to manipulate children into commenting.

If you skip his intro and outros the guy is more tolerable to watch.
