I'm always curious where this comes from, so I go back to a person's first posts/comments on Reddit. Maybe 10 percent were trannies from the beginning but the other 90 started out posting in r/lesbians or the male equivalent. This one was posting in everything lesbian and calling themselves female as recent as a year ago, but is now trans and posting on gay subs.

That's one of the things that drives me nuts about troonism. Depending on what's more convenient for them at the time trannies will either claim that gender is a social construct that doesn't matter and that it's fluid or they'll claim that gender is fundamental and unchangeable. They will claim that cis people are so committed to gender roles that we get offended by seeing them reject them when really the vast majority of us just think they're ridiculous for trying so hard (or claiming to try, some of them don't even recognizably try) to reject their gender roles.
They will claim that cis people never think about gender roles and that therefore they're better at being men/women than we are when we recognize that our hobbies and clothing aren't what make us men or women.
Unfortunately, this sort of schizophrenically hypocritical take on transness works way too well and handmaidens never seem to recognize the inherent contradiction until something finally makes them peak trans and everything falls apart in record time. That's what happened to me, but I think that most trans allies won't even think about it hard enough to ever recognize the contradiction. They get told that 1) trannnies reject gender roles (which they sometimes do) therefore 2) transphobes must embrace restrictive gender roles (which they sometimes do) therefore 3) trannies are progressive and transphobia are conservative (which they sometimes are) and therefore 4) that as progressives they should always support trans people.
Why don't we see this sort of approach work for conservatives though? Why don't they claim that transphobes are trying to tear down gender roles and that trannies are embracing them (which is at least as true as points 1 and 2 above)? Well, they do, it's just not as successful on conservatives. That's not because conservatives are more intelligent though, it's because self-serving and hypocritical tranny apologetics is fundamentally an exercise in sophistry and while both sides engage in sophistry progressives are more likely to be convinced by it (because progressivism is almost always full of academics) while conservatives pretty much only use it to enforce their own beliefs. So a few fetishists (AGPs, AAPs, GAMPS and what have you) who probably used to be pretty evenly spread on all parts of the political spectrum ended up making inroads on the left, not only drawing in more fetishists to their part of the spectrum but also managing to flip some of the people who were already there. They still have some of these fetishists on the right, but because they don't get indulged they're usually pretty obviously just conservative men who want to fuck men dressed as women.
One of the best examples of the shallow progressivism of the trans rights movements is traditionally leftist organizations like the ACLU latching onto obvious cases of homophobic parents openly saying that they were worried that their child was gay and being relieved that they're trans (but it's OK for little

I think a lot of it is social expectation and not wanting to lose community. "Straight transmen" are treated like absolute dogshit in the community. Most at least pretend to be "pansexual" or something in order to avoid being hit with the stigma of being considered "straight". There's also a huge assumption in ftm circles that all ftms are attracted to men, so there's a ton of social pressure there. It's part of why a lot of trans-identified women date each other - they can still be in a homosexual relationship like they want, but they don't have to pretend to be straight.
Also, there's significant evidence that exogenous testosterone just fucks with women's sex drive and sexuality. I've read some testimonials from detransitioned women who said they weren't and aren't attracted to men at all, but when they were on testosterone they were. Probably something to do with making their sex drive go to eleven, that it becomes hard to be discriminating or something, I don't know. I wish someone would do a study on this stuff, but they never will because it might make transition sound like a bad idea.

It used to be that way, and it still is in young children being transed by their parents, but since the rise in ROGD (rapid onset gender dysphoria) and social contagion, the majority of ftms I believe are now at least bisexual but probably heterosexual (into men). It's considered cool and sexy to be trans, and, at least among younger people, it's honestly stigmatized now to be a "straight cis girl" (not as much as it is to be a "cis" lesbian but still) especially if you don't perform femininity literally to the highest level possible - IOW it's okay to be a "straight cis girl" if you're an Insta model who takes four hours every day to apply sixteen separate levels of makeup, but not if you're the kind of girl who wears t-shirts and jeans and doesn't wear makeup. Not to mention that if you're heterosexual and "cis", you're expected to performatively flay yourself in service to your trans betters literally 24/7.
