I wouldn't say "feel bad for him" but rather have a hard time justifying any further hate stemming from the nothing-burger that is ruining a grifters standing on youtube, which is about as close to real damage he might have caused.

I personally wouldn't be so quick to say that, this guy has such a weak spine, a penchant for weasel behavior, he is underhanded in the way he conducts himself when faced with even the smallest scrutiny. The man is deceitful even when faced with a completely innocuous situation, he would take the stance that up is down if it would put him in a positive light (positive by his own twisted standard). Evil.

Yeah, I agree. Matt is a very disingenuous, two-faced individual who definitely has done some things that he doesn't want brought into the light (all the mystery surrounding his swatting incident or that church story he told on his channel). The ultimate difference between him and Ralph is that Ralph has given us more content by having all of his evil deeds come to the surface. Matt on the other hand has shown glimpses of it but doesn't have as much confirmed about him as Ralph does. He simply comes across as a pathetic individual.

Ralph's cow moments are also very explosive and frequent, like the Faith saga, getting arrested, constantly calling Null a pedo to strangers while dating Pantsu. He's also very defensive and reactive, willing to shout at and attack critics in slurred alcoholic diatribes.
Matt's just kinda boring and passive by comparison. The boulder stuff was funny, and he hasn't learned anything, but Matt doesn't melt down, he doesn't get arrested. He's just kind of a snake in the background who desperately wants to be a famous youtuber. He just can't because he has no charisma or talent, but is willing to latch onto whatever is popular.

I think Matt got a taste of efame during GamerGate and is chasing the dragon.
He thinks he can get that much engagement and popularity again if he just makes the right video. He doesn't think he has to get a real career, because he'd have to use time he could be using to make videos and then inevitably have to quit his job when he starts making money on YouTube again.
Or, maybe he's just not good at anything else and thinks YouTube is his only option.
