Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I'll give him and the Democrats credit on one thing, even I didn't think they'd resort to trying to squeeze more money out the people they helped put out of work. I naïvely thought a far worse tax season would kill their lockdown boner and make them consider reopening to make up for that shortfall, but they somehow found another way to sink lower in my eyes.
Considering they used this crisis to exploit abuse an insecure voting method, of course they'll continue to go all out. Gotta milk the bigger chaos cow after Trump for all it's worth.

Fear kept W in power, and "hope" kept Obama running strong. We'll see if anyone lets go of the rope during this tug of war.

How biden will continue his 70% tax increase considering he's going to shut down the country again. Yeah he says "it's only for those who make 400k+) but lets be honest the higher class will outsource or move to another country.

I'm honestly not even convinced he WILL be able to shut down the country again, because frankly, I think the states as a majority are over this shit, and that includes most governors. I know Biden's talking about a mask mandate for his first 100 days in office, but I think that's also pretty optimistic as time goes by and fewer people are scared into submission.

I guess another shutdown IS possible, but we're already in major debt and I'm not sure how it would even work since at least half the population isn't willing to go along with it. Maybe back in March/April when panic was at an all-time high, but between the vaccine rollout and the tanking economy, I'm just not sure it's feasible anymore to mandate it for all Americans.

Idk the niggers see how fredo pushing the vaccines on them first. They think it's sus. Although seeing the fivzer vaccine is already causing bells palsy and infertility I think the vaccine should wait.

Seeing the dems are sweeping the senate next week and how easy it us for Republicans to cuck I think the we will be back on lockdowns especially with a dem senate/house, and spineless opposition.

Joe can't shut the country down or declare a nationwide virus-hijab mandate because it violates states rights. There are so many federal judges in this country all you need is one guy who says "yep, that violates the Constitution" and it's suspended nationwide, just like one judge in Hawaii suspended Trump's "Muslim ban." They can keep litigating it but that executive order will be stuck in the courts for months.

All he can do is scream at governors and mayors to enforce the demands of "the experts", which will probably work to some degree (assuming he brings some DNC goons to do the real talking) since most of these governors and mayors are spineless. I've seen suggestions he'll tie federal funds to it, but that will really only work with muzzle decrees since federal funds can't make up for what will happen after another round of economic autoerotic asphyxiation and even these politicians know it.

Look at what's happening in California -- a place where we see everyone from celebs to nobodies screeching on social media about the evils of privilege. Earlier in this thread, someone posted caps of people in that state willing to pay $25 k (if not more!) to move up in line to get their COVID vaccines. That wouldn't even be an issue if that commie faggot Newsom didn't establish an "independent review" of the vaccine because he can't stand the thought of Trump doing something useful.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles County is the new epicenter of the pandemic in the US. 35k+ new cases a day. I'm an essential worker and we have been so insanely busy. Nobody is taking the stay at home order seriously because the California government seems to come up with their COVID policies by shaking a magic 8 ball. Californians are over the incompetence and it's only fueling the spread.

It's not even religion in some cases; it's flat out hypocrisy. Sounds just like organized religion actually. :story:

Most Whites Must Adhere to Ivy League University Vaccination Requirement; Minorities Allowed To Claim Racism To Opt Out

Cornell students are required to get a flu vaccination before arriving on campus as part of the Cornell Student Behavioral Compact in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Or, to put it more accurately, white students are required to get a flu vaccination.

Most white students, anyway. If you’re Caucasian, you must obtain a medical or religious exemption in order to opt out.

Or, to put it more accurately, white students are required to get a flu vaccination.

Most white students, anyway. If you’re Caucasian, you must obtain a medical or religious exemption in order to opt out.

I went straight to the source on this one, it really is stupid. From the last dropdown tab (or whatever it's called) of this page:
Other exemption (for *FLU VACCINATION* requirement only): Ithaca students with other concerns / extenuating circumstances may request an exemption from the Fall 2020 flu vaccination requirement that is part of the university's COVID-19 Behavioral Compact. (Learn more about why Cornell is requiring flu vaccination for students.) Students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or as a Person of Color (BIPOC) may have personal concerns about fulfilling the Compact requirements based on historical injustices and current events, and may find this information helpful in considering an exemption.
And then there's this:

A history of mistreatment & lack of access to appropriate care

We recognize that, due to longstanding systemic racism and health inequities in this country, individuals from some marginalized communities may have concerns about needing to agree to such requirements. For example, historically, the bodies the of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC) have been mistreated, and used by people in power, sometimes for profit or medical gain. It is understandable that the current Compact requirements may feel suspect or even exploitative to some BIPOC members of the Cornell community. Additionally, recent acts of violence against Black people by law enforcement may contribute to feelings of distrust or powerlessness. We know this history and validate the potential concerns it may raise. At the same time, we know that long-standing social inequalities and health disparities have resulted in COVID-19 disproportionately affecting BIPOC individuals. Higher percentages of individuals from these communities become infected with COVID, and the health outcomes related to infection are often more serious. Away from campus community, BIPOC individuals are not as likely to have access to preventive services or quality health care. The systems, services, and policies being implemented at Cornell seek to address these inequalities as well as the differential impacts.
Just from some general browsing they really are balls deep in the newspeak and other 2020 bullshit.

What are they gonna do when 400lbs L'Treesha dies of the coof because she heard vaccines be rayciss 'n shieeet? Where do the YOU MUST BE VACCINATED OR ELSE people stand on this issue?
They'll blame white people obviously lol.

Home prices have been shooting up in rural areas. I've been in the market for a new house. (Got a new better paying job, so something larger/nicer)

I've watched prices jump $20k or more overnight. Houses that were going for 130-150k in January are now being listed for 220,000+. Stuff in the 200k range is now 300-500k. You can see just how bad it is if you look up the property taxes and assessments for the property. Houses are sometimes 100k+ over assessment value from last year. Anyone having to do a bank assessment for a mortgage is going to have a hard time convincing a loan officer to approve with that on the table.

Add in how many states are going to have to, or already have, raise property taxes thanks to state budgets being decimated from the lockdowns. It's going to be a really expensive time to be a homeowner. (Also, I imagine rents are going to soar because landlords are going to pass on the increased costs.)

Stagflation and insane housing costs are looking quite likely right now. The claims of another 2008 isn't really just doomposting. The eviction moratorium will eventually have to expire and there will be a large wave of homelessness and foreclosures. The economy is going to have to respond to that eventually. We got a whiff of it when the markets tanked in March but that was stabilized by all the massive quantitative easing governments of the world have been blowing into the system.

Tldr: Shit is going to get nasty regardless of what anyone can do now. Best advice is to save as much as you can and make sure you can be mobile quickly.

China's at it again.

Chinese citizen journalist Zhang Zhan sentenced for reporting early on COVID in Wuhan

Beijing — A Chinese court on Monday sentenced a former lawyer who reported on the early stage of the coronavirus outbreak to four years in prison on charges of "picking fights and provoking trouble," one of her lawyers said. The Pudong New Area People's Court in the financial hub of Shanghai gave the sentence to Zhang Zhan following accusations she spread false information, gave interviews to foreign media, disrupted public order and "maliciously manipulated" the outbreak.

Lawyer Zhang Keke confirmed the sentence but said it was "inconvenient" to provide details - usually an indication that the court has issued a partial gag order. He said the court didn't ask Zhang whether she would appeal, nor did she indicate whether she would.

Zhang, 37, traveled to Wuhan in February and posted on various social media platforms about the outbreak that is believed to have emerged in the central Chinese city late last year.

She was arrested in May amid tough nationwide measures aimed at curbing the outbreak and heavy censorship to deflect criticism of the government's initial response. Zhang reportedly went on a prolonged hunger strike while in detention, prompting authorities to forcibly feed her, and is said to be in poor health.

Earlier this month, an attorney flor Zhang who wished to remain anonymous told CBS News Zhang was restrained 24 hours a day with a belt around her waist and both hands tied to prevent her from pulling out a feeding tube.

The lawyer, who visited her at least twice, said she was experiencing headaches, dizziness and stomach and mouth pain due to the insertion of the gastric tube for forced feeding, and that Zhang told him that, "every day is torture."

Zhang is among several citizen journalists whose work offered some of the only glimpses to the outside world of what was going on in Wuhan in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic — and who were subsequently detained by the Chinese government.

Citizen journalist Chen Qiushi went missing in February at about the same time as Li Zehua and Wuhan resident Fang Bin, both of whom also reported on the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan. Li Zehua was released in April.

China has been accused of covering up the initial outbreak and delaying the release of crucial information, enabling the virus to spread and contributing to the pandemic that has sickened more than 80 million people worldwide and killed almost 1.8 million. Beijing vigorously denies the accusations, saying it took swift action that bought time for the rest of the world to prepare.

China's ruling Communist Party tightly controls the media and seeks to block dissemination of information it hasn't approved for release.

In the early days of the outbreak, authorities reprimanded several Wuhan doctors for "rumor-mongering" after they alerted friends on social media. The best known of the doctors, Li Wenliang, later succumbed to COVID-19.

Separately, Agency France Presse reports China has put on trial 10 of 12 pro-democracy activists who tried to escape Hong Kong by speedboat for sanctuary in Taiwan.

The U.S. urged the immediate release of dissidents it says "fled tyranny."

The ten of the so-called "Hong Kong 12" were in court in the southern city of Shenzhen. Their boat was intercepted on August 23.

The Cornell race exemption to vaccination, in addition to being utterly insane, is unworkable and will expose them to litigation under the New York Human Rights Law. What happens if, for example, a white person "identifies" as a non-whitey and claims a racism exemption? Who exactly counts as a person of color? Is the school going to require a blood quantum test to qualify or is it simply based on how you look? If the school denies someone's request for an exemption under that justification, the only possible reason would be race-related and right there they have created a cause of action for unlawful discriminatory practices if they don't allow an otherwise qualified student access to their school.

These batshit crazy progressive policies are very easy to push into untenable positions simply by claiming to be whatever class of person they favor. Under wokeist dogma, a person is whatever they say they are, and the commissars will be forced to impose objective (and often very illegal) criteria in order to implement their lunacy. What we need are people who are willing to brave the slings and arrows of these maniacs in order to expose these shams.

Here's some some nice propaganda, paid for by my government. Brampton is a suburb of Mumbai total turd of a city near Toronto that I have the misfortune of visiting far too often.

She killed her father by being in a relationship with a pajeet!

But seriously, if anyone acts like this in real life they're a neurotic crazy bitch

This seems strange as well:

The hospital started their vaccinations on December 18. “After physicians and staff who expressed interest in the vaccine were administered, there were several doses left. Because the reconstituted Pfizer vaccine must be used within hours or be disposed of, several doses were administered to non-front line healthcare workers so that valuable vaccine would not be thrown away," the hospital's statement continued.

The Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine must be kept at -70 degrees celsius and be administered soon after thawing. The vials containing the vaccine are supposed to hold five doses but some were found to house as many as seven.

The Food and Drug Administration said on December 16: "At this time, given the public health emergency, FDA is advising that it is acceptable to use every full dose obtainable (the sixth, or possibly even a seventh) from each vial, pending resolution of the issue."

Is it?
